Rod knock diagnosis
In this video we verify knocking from the bottom end of the engine. We're using a scan tool to disable the cylinders using the fuel injector kill test. Notice the audible change in rpm for each cylinder. The audible change for cylinder four is very different than cylinders 12 and three. When cylinder four is disabled the audible not almost stops. This knocking sound is likely a connecting rod or wristpin.

Great vid. Thanks! I really appreciate knowing the Allen wrench trick!!
Is this V8 or V6?
Hi, this video is the V6
I don’t have a lift in my garage but I still used this video to remove and replace mine. I just crawled up underneath my truck. Thanks for uploading!
That was so extra for just a change of batteries
Thank you for the help :)
I love you for the video . Thank you
I can only hear half the video. Broskie, can you just do a voiceover and add it so we know what you are actually doing? Or maybe just wear a mic for other videos
Thanks. I am currently not producing new content, but future videos will have better quality.
Can we change it from the top only or do we have to access from the bottom?
I found the easiest access is from under the vehicle.
"Larry....LARRYY!!! Those two crazy old coots up the road are setting off the damned car alarm again!"
i have all the tools and jack and stands and power tools etc but i still get a little intimidated doing something i havent done before especially on a friends car. But seeing this video it doesnt look bad, thanks!
Being intimidated is part of the process. Take your time and accept the fact that mistakes, broken parts and frustration are the costs of success. You got this.
No sound
First time going live. I hope we can improve and provide more valuable content as we grow. Thanks.

Thank you, this was a big help changing the belt on my 2005 4runner, especially the part on getting it past the fan clutch.
I was thinking about just taking the fan off to make room
Wish I had seen this before it snapped on the highway today but great video so I know how to replace it in the future
I am loyal
Great video. Educates consumer to know what's done & what to look for. Thanks 👏
WOAH
Saved me a heap of trouble from doing the way I was, thank you 😊 🙏..
You're welcome!
Nice video! You should upload more often like this, you put out good content!
Thank you! I have recruited a partner to help me create content. I am hoping to increase the frequency of new videos.
Is this motor the 4.0 V6 or the 4.7 V8?
This is the 4.0 V6.
Gracias muy buena explicación!!!!
Thank you!
Nowhere as easy as you made it look for me 😂😂 but I got it done
Excellent job of showing how it's done,, Thanks so much!!!
You're welcome
Thanks for posting this !
You're welcome
Thanks a billion. My partner and I literally just changed the belt on my SUV. We don’t have a car lift so 2 people doing it makes it much easier when it comes to the tension wheel. My car is now purring like a kitten. I saved so much on repair fees. Total amount spent for belt…$41. I really appreciate you uploading this articulate tutorial. It’s a good day today!🤩👊🏼👍🏼
Thank you, happy this helped.
Omar thank you for posting, I am also interested in your scissor lift because of the garage low celing, any info appreciated
The lift is from hunter engineering. The shop was engineered with flush mount installation specific to the equipment. This allows us to drive very low vehicles onto the lift to perform alignments. The price tag for lift and alignment equipment was about 60k in 2011. Not sure what it would run today.
Just the lights out on mine
Wish my tensioner had the magic hole
It can get broken off if incorrectly used. This can happen very easily. Maybe aftermarket does not have it.
Best video on UA-cam for this job. Well done and thanks
Thank you.
dude sooo helpful thanks
You're welcome
great video.... thanks!! i have a 2004 4runner that have just had that problem as my son was driving it
Glad this helped
Ah tollota hf
The 2011 4runner (I assume all 5th generations) has exact same configuration. However, changing the belt can be done from the top. Not that difficult.
Is serpentine belt replacement procedure similar for 2010-2021 4runner? I cannot find videos for my 2011 4runner.
Not sure, hope you got it figured out.
Whoever clicked thumbs down must have made an inferior video. Thanks, well done. I need to do to my wife's soon.
Thank you
You forgot to mention that the glow worm was out of key (which means that the glow worm had a bad tone of song.)
Yes, that is one of the symptoms that should have been analyzed. Thanks for watching.
By far the best DIY drive belt change video on UA-cam! Very clear and straight to the point with a few added hints to make the job even easier. The 5mm allen key trick was a life savior and made the job that much more simple! I was flushing the cooling system and replacing the thermostat with a new one and after draining and flushing most of the coolant out, I went straight into doing this drive belt replacement job with the old thermostat and hose pulled out of the way, which I think made the job even more easier... less stuff in the way. Thank you Omar Sevilla for a very helpful video! Appreciate the upload!
Thank you. I post these videos when I can.
Yeah, now all I have to do is buy a 12ft high garage, so I can get that lift in it. Then buy a belt. Nice.
G l o w o r m
Killer video! Thanks for all the inspection details and the trick with holding the tensioner!
You're welcome
Hey guys my 2006 Toyota 4Runner has the factory serpentine belt with 205K this is unbelievable.
I’m here to say the same thing. 2006 208k and finally deciding to change it just because lol
My 2004 originL belt just broke lol.
That's amazing
God bless. Very helpful. Thanks 🙏
Thank you
Very helpful. Thanks for posting. Just curious that since I’m replacing my alternator, will it be easier to do it from above?
Hope you got that alternator replaced ok. Im pretty sure pulling it from the top is easiest.
Thanks
Well presented - thank you
damn near impossible to figure out if old one is gone! REMEMBER REMEMER how old one came off, or else you are doomed. I didnot find the allen key hole either, just wedged a pipe onto handle of ratchet and jammed the handle under a hose. AND be sure both sides of the belt are either side of the breaker bar else you have to take it off .
The hole can get broken off if used incorrectly. This may have happened with yours.
Hey Mr Sevilla, I think you'd like to see this ua-cam.com/video/Bi0IevLRGDg/v-deo.html
I like the Allen wrench trick!
Update,i went Advance auto ,got a reman CARDONE power steering pump for about $200 but with the $45 core charge,i will pay less.I got home a bit late thinking i will get the pump drop but ran into issue with that 17Mm NUT (the high pressure hose ).Tomorrow a friend of mine is going to bring a impack gun to help me get that line off.
Another pointer is, i dont know if the belt had ever being changed. I bought this 07 toyota 4runner 3 or so months ago with 104,675 Odo. Hope it's not a faulty fail pump because it don't make any noise,no leak nor i feel nothing but smoothness when i turn the steering.
If the belt is not being damaged and the power steering pump is not making noise maybe it is a normal condition. Notice in the video that I put my hand on each pulley to verify that it feels normal. I would pull the Power steering pump shaft in and out to see how much it moves. It should only move a few thousandths of an inch.
@@OmarSevillaAuto Thanks for taking the time to respond to me 😊😊🙏🏼. I will update upon my task with my 07 Toyota 4runner.
@@OmarSevillaAuto SO after leaving the comment,i went and got the serpentine belt and check the PS pulley with my hand. The pulley as expected went IN and Out with about 3mm and i also did a record video of my moving it In and Out. Since the pump need out, what QUALITY brand would you recommend me to get???
@@doobedi I would compare my pump with the new one before replacing. Toyota factory parts are the best but any aftermarket parts will work. It really depends on your budget.
@@OmarSevillaAuto So i got the pump and compare them which look very identical. I put on my new /reman pump but when it came to put the serpentine belt back on,it couldn't go over the pulley. The hole that you put the 5.5mm Allen key in to hold the Tensioner broke on me 😔. I try not to frustrate myself and not going give up.
I did exactly what you did but on idling i saw my PS PULLEY going IN AND OUT.
If you are having a problem with belts being damaged it may be time to replace a failed pump. I would remove the belt and see if I can slide the pump shaft in and out by hand.
@@OmarSevillaAuto well this is a new belt i just put on but the pulley going in and out. If by chance it goes in and out by hand, they pump will need to be replaced??
