I'm Mark and i'll pleased to have my Jeanneau Sun Fast 32.

Sailing ''200 myls SOLO race'' with SV Accelerate 2023
Voor de 4e keer heb ik meegedaan aan deze wedstrijd. Aangezien je maar in je eentje aan boord zit, is het wel leuk om op deze manier de belevenissen met jullie te delen.
In plaats van een korte video heb ik er deze keer een soort aflevering van gemaakt.
Het was een redelijk taaie editie. Het was namelijk alles of niks. 2 dagen veel wind en 2 dagen weinig wind. Ook waren de weersvoorspellingen alles behalve stabiel, lastige puzzel dus om deze editie zo snel mogelijk te zeilen.

helaas 2,5 van de 4,5 dag praktisch geen wind, daarom de 200 myls banen ingekort tot 100 mijl. jammer, maar blijkt een goed besluit door de organisatie. dit was een hele gezellige en relaxte zeiltocht, maar wel met veel rekenwerk om uit te zoeken hoe we de 100 mijl zo snel mogelijk en met zo veel mogelijk wind konden varen. voor baan 7 pakte dat goed uit, Accelerate is hierin de baanwinnaar! he...

Deze editie van 2021 was iets minder heftig dan de editie van 2020. Maar door de ronde buitenom én de verwachte windstilte op zaterdag en zondag de hele route in 3 dagen gepland, waardoor het alsnog een beste uitdaging werd. Zeker omdat op donderdag toch wel weer 25-34kn wind voorspeld was. deze editie weer enorm genoten, op naar editie 2022!

Very impressive, quick and tidy. I always have trouble keeping the spinnaker drawing when I remove the pole, whether gybing or dousing. What is your apparent wind angle when you remove the pole? Edit: Sorry, I didn't see your notes. AWA 160?

''self-fly mode'' is the balance in the spinnaker so it don’t collapse without using the spinnakerpole. in this case, before gybing the mainsail move spinnaker to right so all pressure is off the spinnakerpole. when the spinnaker is not is ''self-fly mode'' you can’t pull out the spinnakerpole becouse there is to much force on the pole. second reason is, when sailing solo, you must trim the sheets correct for the gibe action on the foredeck. your leeward sheet will be the windward sheet after gybing. if this sheet is to tight, you can't fit in the spinnakerpole while gybing on the foredeck. this can give verry unwanted results..... you must figure it out by practice what the exact balance is with your boat and spinnaker. when ease the sheets to much, the spinnaker will flow without control, the boat will roll a lot and the spinnaker will move hard from left to right and back.... sheets to tight, you will have a hard time to gybe the spinnakerpole.... the wind strength, swell and spinnaker shape have impact on how easy you can ''fly'' your spinnaker. hope this makes sense, explaining in Dutch is easier then English for me.
This is the best angle from which all the operation can be seen. If you can add some words underneath, so the beginners can notice what you are doing, step by step.

Hi Mark, leuk filmpje! Maar ik begrijp niet waarom je voor het gijpen de fok uitrolt?
Om 2 redenen. 1. Hiermee heb je minder risico dat de spinnaker om de voorstag heen wikkeld. En 2. Je dekt met het grootzeil en de fok de spi af waarmee de krachten praktisch 0 zijn, wel zo gemakkelijk met een boel wind in je eentje.

Kan me vergissen, maar dacht Ned op het zeil te lezen. Zit de (bakboord) achterstag vd spi al vast voor je hem ophaalde eigenlijk? En waar hangt de onderstag vd spi- pole aan vast? Sorry vr de domme vragen, maar wil er net mee beginnen met dat spi-gedoe 😊
Klopt idd NL! En nee, zijn geen domme vragen. Eerder gaaf dat je het spinnakeren ook wilt beheersen! De lijschoot (bakboord) zit in dit geval al vast inderdaad, maar een paar losse slagen om de lier is ook prima voor het hijsen. De neerhouder onder de spi-boom zitvlak voor de mast vast op via een oog en trimbaar vanaf de kuip, deze zit ook vaak verder naar voren vast, zodoende schuift de spi-boom minder makkelijk naar achteren tijdens ruime koersen. Tip: begin de eerste keren met rustig weer en lekker veel ruimte, 2bft bijvoorbeeld. Als de handelingen goed gaan kun je met steeds wat meer wind je grens verleggen.
@@SV-Accelerate Hartelijk dank! Ik heb een 7.5m licht bootje dat zou moeten kunnen planeren. Ik wil dat spivaren dus zeker leren, maar zoals u aangeeft, rustig aan. Er gaat vaak vanalles mis met die dingen merkte ik.

What are the benefits of doing it windward versus leeward, in the lee of the main/genoa?
The main benefit is that your spinnaker is dropped at the right site when rounding the top mark in a competition for the next hoist.
When I watch the mess people seem to have with this spinnakers, why don't they move to gennakers on a fixed pole?! Not talking about racing boats.
