I could have done so much better editing this, but I was learning as I went along and didn't feel like repeating my work when I'd learned how to do it better. Character He-Man copyright by someone other than me. I just put a pretty purple karma-stealing triangle on his chest.

Duck Brand UA-cam page: ua-cam.com/users/theduckbrand I DON'T OWN ANYTHING. I will happily remove this video at Duck Brand's request, but since I can't find it anywhere but Vimeo, I'm uploading it. I also do not have now nor ever will have ads, this video is for entertainment purposes only, and I have no plans to use it to make money.

From S5E2 "The Legend of the Holy Rose" Part 2 There's a ruby about the size of a fist inside that gold ball, btw. UA-cam or CBS has matched this video and issued a copyright claim. BUT! CBS, unlike other companies, allows this video to remain in its entirety with the stipulation that I cannot monetize it, that is I cannot earn money from advertising on this specific video. I never had any inte...

"What are you doing ambrose-senpai uwu Impregnate me with your gunpowder"
Well.... it seems to be a four-level-setup laser for enabling continuous mode! 😉 However... ruby-lasers are a three-level-system! You will get a pulsed laser beam then.😂 And yes... calling it a 'light pump' might sound weird or even unscientific for laymen but it is actually correct. Damn... growing up with McGyver might have been the reason why I studied chemistry and made my master in it! 😂 And yes... chemistry has got a lot to do with lots of physics and chemists do like lasers as well! 😉
2:02 slow laser beam, lol 😅😅

The special effects coupled the melodramatic music really makes this entire episode work so well.👍
Who saw this as a kid and it left an imprint?

They forgot to remove the pump after it had done its initial work opening the cave.
That would ultimately save their lives.

This worked sun is very powerful and harnesses right lot of power there
I met the science advisor for MacGyver outside a hospital where he had designed a clean room. I think he was trying to pick me up.
WOW!

Me encanta
Si Ambrosio fue un adelantado para su tiempo.
As much as I loved and still love MacGyver. This is probably one of the most ridiculous episodes ever
I'm not ashamed to say that when I was younger, this was my favorite (aside from the bombs on the ship)
That's why I always have a magnifying lens in my bag in case I lose my lighter.
@@isolinear9836 Oh it was fun to watch, especially for the special effects.
@@mardus_ee One of the reasons why it was so impressive is that you have to remember: this was during the Cold War and the Ronald Reagan project of Lasers in Space. So this episode had a LOT of cultural validity for the time when everyone from the US Military to the US Semiconductor industry was busy with lasers, lithography, laser pens in school, etc. As a younger man, I was only beginning to learn the Physics behind the theory Macguyver was talking about - so it wasn't so much a suspension of disbelief so much a matter of ignorance. Now having had a career of Electrical and Systems Engineering, I know this scene is kind of hokey, but it's one of the reasons why I was so interested in getting into Engineering and the Navy - I'm not the only one. So this Macguyver episode for all its faults, inspired a generation of Engineers (much as a recent Chemical/Process Engineer out of school mentioned to me that he got interested in his trade from watching Breaking Bad....personaly I consider Macguyver more morally and ethically wholesome entertainment)

I love how slowly the laser travels - and the fact that you can even see it.
lol yeah I was sitting here giggling over that. TV the visual medium.
this episode was a wild chase between mcgyver and the bad guys. i think it was the father of the more recent "national treasure" movies. when those movies came out i remembered this episode.
The Indiana Jones franchise preceded those, and Jonny Quest even that. Plus lots of action-adventure movies, comics, and books in-between, including "The Hardy Boys", which was a long-standing action-adventure / mystery book series for adolescents that ran through 1927−2005.
I like the episode. May have you full episode?
kids this is not how laser with solid resonator works.
Macgyver seems a little high on cocaine in this scene, running around in circles all sweaty and out of breath.
Cool to see the explanation en espanol.
THANKYOU. it has taken me YEARS to find this.
At first I thought that was Molly Ringwald when I looked at the thumbnail!
lol here I am, just looking for a video on optical pumping, the lab I just did, and this is what I found. I wonder where they got their magnetic field from to make the laser work
Ruby lasers don't use a magnetic field. A ruby rod laser uses a ruby rob, a fully silvered mirror, a partially silvered mirror, and a flashlamp coiled around the ruby rod.

Duct Tape is a misnomer, created due to copyright issues over the name Duck tape. Originally, the tape was created for the military during WW2 by contract as a multipurpose waterproof tape for sealing canisters. It became very popular for a variety of other uses with the troops, and took on the nick name "Duck" tape, because water bounced off it like off a ducks back. This company then started producing the popular tape for the civilian market, and got rights to the name Duck Tape, so no one else could call a similar tape the same thing. Many civilians started using the tape to seal duct work, and because no other brand could call it duck tape, everyone else labeled theirs duct tape. It was determined within 10 years though that duck/duct tape is COMPLETELY unsuited for duct work, as it doesn't hold up in high heat environments of attics. The California safety board even strictly prohibits and warns against using duct tape to seal ducts, and instead recommend aluminum tape and other alternatives. Unfortunately, the "duct" tape spelling was in use for so long that many people still refer to it as that. It really should go back to the original and intended spelling of Duck tape, especially when you are specifically referring to duck branded duck tape.
The tape is reinforced with heavy cotton string, which at the time was called cotton duck (it is still called that in the industry). It is true that duck tape was created as a waterproofing tape for canisters, but the other explanations of the name are cute, but incorrect. Etymologists have finally confirmed this after years of speculation.
This is wrong in so many ways but fuck it... rule of cool applies here. But light speed sure was slow back in the '80s. Or was this already the '90s?
Is that why everything was neon?
Ha! Yeah....I didn't remember light moving that slowly back in 1989.
What? You've never heard of slow lasers?
That and transparent plastic wouldn't act focus the light to a point.
When I was a kid I tried to reproduce that with Legos, pieces of transparent plastic and a torchlight. It never worked, I guess I was lacking some gunpowder.
Me too but I did with jewerly(fake jewerly)

I can only hope to be as cool as that guy...
I admire a guy who finds the time to play tron with duct tape. And by the way he scored well with that wife
