St John Boat Race Video
Webb's Slough Sprint Boat Races in St. John, WA
The summer sun beat down on the dusty plains of St. John, Washington, as hundreds of campers descended upon the banks of Webb's Slough, eager to witness the annual sprint boat races. The air crackled with excitement as the powerful engines roared to life, their thunderous echoes reverberating across the water.
The track, a narrow channel carved through the rolling wheat fields, was a sight to behold. Its banks were lined with cheering spectators, their faces painted in the colors of their favorite teams, and the smell of freshly grilled hot dogs and popcorn filled the air.
The races were a spectacle of speed and agility, as the brightly colored boats sliced through the water, leaving a trail of white foam in their wake. Drivers maneuvered their craft with expert precision, navigating the sharp turns and obstacles that dotted the course.
One of the most anticipated races of the day was the Grand Prix, a high-stakes event that drew the biggest crowds. The drivers pushed their boats to their limits, their engines screaming in unison as they raced towards the finish line. The cheers of the spectators grew louder with each passing lap, their excitement palpable as they witnessed the thrilling spectacle unfold before them.
As the day drew to a close, the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the track. The crowds dispersed, leaving behind a trail of empty cans and bottles, but the memories of the day's exhilarating events would linger on for weeks to come.
The Webb's Slough Sprint Boat Races were more than just a sporting event; they were a celebration of community and a testament to the enduring spirit of the Palouse region. For two days each summer, the small town of St. John was transformed into a haven for racing enthusiasts, drawing visitors from all over the country.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the last echoes of the engines faded into the night, leaving behind a peaceful silence. The Webb's Slough Sprint Boat Races had come to an end, but the excitement and anticipation of next year's event already filled the air.

You got any new Zealand racers at this event
I don't think so. U.S. and Canadian racers mainly. It would be cool to see New Zealand racers enter this race.
