More Historical Fiction Manga
History is fun, but so is being entertained. Here are some more "historical" manga I've read (or watched) that are based outside of Japan, mainly in Europe. These ones are not biographies, don't place in Japan or during WWII, and don't involve being transported back to the past.
I neglected to mention this cool stuff

It'd be nice to have copyright consistency on here, but I don't know, so we'll see what happens
I feel like I should be citing all the manga panels but there's no guide for that sheiße + I'm lazy

History is fun, but so is being entertained, so I read the fictionalized manga biographies of Hatshepsut, Charles-Henri Sanson, Eumenes of Cardia, Musashi Miyamoto, Robert Johnson, and Hojo Tokiyuki: The Blue Eye of Horus, Innocent, Historie, Vagabond, Me and the Devil Blues, and The Elusive Samurai. I don't understand why the ending of 20th Century Boys was changed for the publication of the Perfect Editions, but I don't like it. It'd be nice to have copyright consistency on here, but I don't know, so we'll see what happens UA-cam told me I have to do this: I Am Running Down the Long Hallway of Viewmont Elementary by Chris Zabriskie is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 lice...
namo | Mangaka Time

namo is a mangaka whose art and stories I enjoy, and maybe you will or would or do too. Ookami showmen wa kyou mo uso wo kasaneru or The Boy Who Cried Wolf Tells a Lie Today Also is his most popular work, but Madoromi-chan ga iku (Go! Go! Madoromi-chan) and Cuprum no hanayome (Cuprum’s Bride) are also funny, cute, shorter works. namo’s twitter: namo_ namo’s pixiv: www.pixiv.net/en/u...

Manga I'm Reading
Переглядів 1292 роки тому
Just gonna talk about everything manga/manwha/light novel that I'm reading right now. Apologies for some sheiße audio. I frick-fracked editing up too and put Psycome in Haven't Read Enough Yet when it should clearly be in Dropped. Also this is coming out like at least a week late so some stuff is slightly off, took me way too long since I have no idea what I'm doing. Better Videos Mentioned: Sc...
A Best-Selling Manga in Japan, but Unknown in English: Do Not Say Mystery (Mystery to Iu Nakare)
Переглядів 9612 роки тому
Mystery to Iu Nakare, or Do Not Say Mystery, is a josei manga from mangaka Tamura Yumi that is very popular in Japan, but relatively unknown outside. It has over 10 million copies in circulation, but no official English translation or even license (It's now licensed by Seven Seas). We follow Kunou Totonou as he solves crimes and puzzles and engages in social commentary. It'd be nice to have cop...
Frieren's Predecessor
Переглядів 982 роки тому
Bocchi Hakase to Robot Shoujo no Zetsubouteki Utopia or Lonely Professor and Robot Girl's Despair-like Utopia is a relatively unknown manga, despite the mangaka, Yamada Kanehito, currently being the storywriter for Sousou no Frieren or Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. It's both funny and thoughtful, and I think lots of people would enjoy the short, 33 chapter, read. I used their illustration twic...
The Precursor to ODD TAXI: SETOUTSUMI

Setoutsumi, a manga with Story and Art by Ka(d)zuya Konomoto, the scriptwriter for Odd Taxi, is a work I believe you will enjoy. Please read it (or watch the movie or miniseries based off of it) Link to read Setoutsumi for free on Amazon: www.amazon.com/s?k=seto utsumi&i=stripbooks&s=date-desc-rank&crid=1C3UB4RZJSWP7&qid=1648451597&sprefix=seto utsumi,stripbooks,125&ref=sr_st_date-desc-rank It'...
This disappoints me because it means both the "perfect" editions of this and Monster had baffling additions from Urasawa. The ending with this one, and the redrawn panels in Monster (which look nice, but actively hurt a first-time reader's experience by needlessly messing with the continuity of characters' appearances, I think - particularly the early redraws of Johan and Nina). Why couldn't they just, reprint the mangas as they were?
Was that Gilbert and Sullivan music in the background?
Nice! (comment for engagement)
I would recommend Ad Astra: Scipio to Hannibal. Its similar to Histories by Iwaaki but focusing more on warfare than the early life of its characters. the best manga are ones you read with wikipedia open lol
This looks really good. Thank you
I never actually realised there was two varying endings. I know I really wasn't fond of the one I read and now I'm certain I must have read the manga with the film ending. Gotta check that out, something always felt off about it too like it lacked the Urasawa touch
Class videos on your channel you got great taste. Shame we're never gonna get an ending to Devil Blues. I check out the authors new works every time, and although the art remains pristine it's just repeating trashy ecchi since prison school which actually had its moments
What site you use
tks for the video, love most of the manga metioned, waiting for part 2!
Glad you enjoyed
There’s actually an ongoing manga about emperor Hirohito has some lovely art, untranslated but have been reading using google translate and it’s a relaxing read
Showa Emperor Tale? Seems like it could be an interesting read
Thermae Romae is fun
It looks fun
"im gonna spoil the French revolution for you guys" LOL
nice
Seto Utsumi sweep BABY!
Awesome Video. Sad that Im 2 years late. I was searching for ANY Part Time and Golden Gold Content. Thanks! I personally am VERY weak to purely heavy series like the last one, anything by Asano or Oshimi Shuzo, and series like A Lollipop or a Bullet and the ones you mentioned. I think the reason Im so weak to these series is because I take every heavy subject there seriously, and atleast I take it to heart. So that kind of a developed connection really messes me up many times. So I save these series, just to read them later and then stop all action and contemplate life for the next week or two. So I wont read it now since its study season rn. But still thanks a lot for the vid, even tho its been 2 years!!!
Better late than never, good luck with study season
@@presidentporpoise8476 Yessirr you got it. Im on the GRIND rn. Im surprised you responded after so long! Its an honour truly 🙇♂️.
What’s crazy about this manga is the art is “eh” and the author overuses face shots. But the fact that the writing snd character and dialogue carries the whole thing is insane.
The dialogue does do a lot of the heavy lifting, but that's what I think is most interesting in this type of story
I did.
now he design character for anime shuumatsu train
I didn’t realize that, thanks for the info
What what your trolling right right 😢😢😢
Wish I was
I'm always looking for new manga to read so I'll definitely check this out! Thank you!
You deserve more subs
ok
thanks for making a vid with ura baito i love the series🙏🙏🙏🙏
One of the few manga I’ve read that can actually be genuinely creepy
can you make another video pls?
School year is almost over, so that’s the plan
Botan best girl!!!
video was really well put together will be checking it out forsure
Thanks, I hope you enjoy it
We are gorillas chapter was pretty good.
Honestly I was about to get angry because travesty used wrong is a huge pet peeve of mine, but I paused and saw the thing LOL. Just going through your vids since I randomly got reccomended them, thanks.
That would be a good anime series
I think that ship has sailed, unfortunately. Hopefully Frieren gets one though, then maybe this series will get more attention
@@presidentporpoise8476 well that sound like a good idea but it need some help to do it
I got the manga maybe in 2017, and didn’t open it until I saw your video😂😅 I like OddTaxi, so I will give it a try.
Hope you enjoy it
Yes! I absolutely adore Seto Utsumi and more people need to read it! My favourite chapter was Stars and Stagehands. I decided to read it whilst Odd Taxi was airing and I was very glad I did. A small correction though, Konomoto has authored more than just Seto Utsumi, he also made the mangas Territory and Spinner Bait, but neither of those have been translated. He was also the scriptwriter for the drama Black School Rules.
Thank you for the information (and for watching). I hadn't seen anything about Territory, but I should have seen Spinner Bait since it doesn't seem quite as obscure. I'll look into those now and I do plan on watching Black School Rules, I hope its good. My favorite chapter would probably be Future and Folders, but Stars and Stagehands is definitely up there.
