Ants first underwater trip

Having done every mistake in underwater videography in the past 15 years, this is new: an ant made it into my underwater housing. Must have been pretty scary for the poor guy. And of course, this happens when you encounter 20 nurse sharks. Filmed in Maldives.

The reef is amazing! I have booked the resort, but a bit worried about the snorkeling there. When you snorkel, is the current strong?
Many tourists die because they go without fins. Current may be strong and changes several times a day. You can always go to the next exit safely IF you wear fins. Diving school provides you with daily tide times and expected currents. Just NEVER go without fins and you will be fine.

I don't know. No contact to the former owner. But I assume there's a guard living there and he will not allow guests.
@@jotbernard8420 yes there are 2-3 lights shimmering yesterday evening. Probably somebody’s living there

Dankeschön! Als leidenschaftlicher Schnorchler hat Bathala einen sicheren Platz in meinem Herzen. Dann kam die Vergewaltigung mit den Wasserbungalows und seither ist sie uninteressant für mich. Und zu teuer. Aber jetzt, 7 Jahre nach der Bleiche, müsste es dort fantastisch sein.
Danke für die schnelle Antwort. Gut zu wissen. Eigentlich bin ich bei meiner Recherche über Filitheyo auf deinen Kanal gestoßen und habe ihn sofort abonniert. Filitheyo ist preislich noch erschwinglich aber ich weiß nicht, ob es sich für Schnorchler lohnt. Vielleicht magst du mir ein kurzes Feedback geben?
@@miriamkosters8805 Auch auf Filitheyo war ich mehrfach, was in erster Linie am Schnorcheln liegt. Ist halt ganz anders. Nicht so wild wie Bathala. Und eigentlich nur auf einer Seite richtig gut zum Schnorcheln (Nord). Wenn Geld keine Rolle spielt würde ich Bathala nehmen an Eurer Stelle. Mit Filitheyo machen Schnorchelfans ganz sicher auch nichts falsch.

Brilliant video I presume you were using zoom function to get those close ups of the eagle ray? We've been to Filitheyo a few times really like the island, food & snorkelling - what time of the year did you go? We have in recent years been to the Bahamas Out Island (see our channel) but variety of fish not the same as the Maldives. Thanks. The sharks come in the evening at 6 because that's when the trash boat heads out to dispose of the organic waste some meters away from the reef. So they are used to being fed, same as Alimatha.
Lovely images. We stayed and dived from there in 2002 and loved it. Really quiet island then, hopefully it still is.
Sadly, they messed the island up with a lagoon full of overwater bungalows. Would have gone there many more times ...
@@jotbernard8420 what a shame, we really liked it simple like it was. A lot of the islands have gone that way and its hard to find simple small diver islands now 😕

@@jotbernard8420 y merece la pena ese hotel por el arrecife que tiene? Queremos ir en febrero pero no nos decidimos porque queremos ir a un hotel donde haya mucha biodiversidad marina
@@Ketomonaa Buceais o solo snorkeling? El arrecife es bueno para snorkel con mucha vida. Mucho para descubrir. Para bucear la region esta buena, pero hay mejor. Para bucear Gangehi o Bathala.

Thank you Bernard, thank you for reminding me this pearl of the Indian Ocean, Asdu Sun Island. I met her for the first time in 1987, and I went back many more times, the last one in 2014. Unfortunately this pearl is no longer available, they closed 2 years ago. Thank you Bernard

Le recif est totalement detruit. Combination de étoiles de mer pour 2 ans et depuis blenchiment en 2016.

I don't think it will ever reopen. But you can ask Ahmed Ismail on Facebook. Maybe he gives you reply. I didn't get one.
do you have free access to the smaller island in the end of the video or is it paid to go there
The island itself is free to access, but you will need a boat to get there. That‘s not cheap and depends on availability. By the way, it is not a real joy to visit unmanaged islands. You will find another video on my channel about this specific island.

Hi. Can you advise if it's a house reef in your video or you have taken trips out of island to film it?
It's a mix of house reef and other reefs in the atoll I have been to with the dive center.

Jojotheragdollcat No. House reef has many living hard coral blocks. They are very nice. But if you refer to the branching corals in the video, they are from different reefs close to Filitheyo.

Auf der Insel waren wir vor gut zwei Jahren,wunderschön gelegen im Süd Nilandhe Atoll. Leider etwas in die Jahre gekommen.als wir dort waren waren einige bungalow mit neuen Dächern renoviert worden 👍 wir werden sicherlich dort nochmal einen Urlaub verbringen
