Marv’s Fix-it Shop-Can It Be Fixed?
United States
Приєднався 17 лис 2013
Life in my fixit shop and more-Sharing my life with you-bringing life to old discarded junk.
I come from a family going back over a century in restoration and building. From my great grandfather to my dad who were old order Amish...a lifestyle many of my relatives live today.
Some of this heritage has rubbed off on me because as a young boy I’ve had a desire to fix what is broken even when others have discarded it as junk. My motto is, “Using new to bring life to the old “. At over sixty years old I’m determined to continue to fix things. This channel will reveal this through many ways showing the viewer how anyone can fix something without spending a lot of money. Along with revealing old family how-to secrets.
Follow me as I share my life of fixing things with you because each project is an adventure you won’t want to miss.

These Weeds Are Nuts-Will This Mower Cut Them?
Watch as we from Marv’s Fixit Shop tackles these ridiculously tall weeds with our Country Clipper mower. This construction lot has been overgrown with weeds and we go try to mow them with this mower. Will we have success? And as we finish up there and head back to the shop, I noticed that the neighbors yard was way overgrown and without permission, I went ahead and mowed. Hopefully we won’t get in trouble for mowing his yard!

Hello "Marv’s Fix-it Shop-Can It Be Fixed?" I saw that in your channel have some problems. For these problems your channel is not much growing. Not getting much engagement. If you can solve these problems, Your channel will get more engagement. If you can give me permission I can tell to you about these problems. Can I tell here or email? Okay?
Thanks for reaching out all I want is to move forward leaving history and a bit of myself for my grandkids and others. My email is in my description.
@@marvinrschwartz7402 ok
I think you have a lot to do and you should just give me those drills 👍
Yes I Should Or at least to someone thanks for watching
Fix them, restore them, save the old history so they can still be around for future generations to see where it all started, before electric motor, back before everything became automatic😊
I enjoy doing it for the most part but it’s hard work and at times frustrating. Thanks for encouraging me to keep pushing forward.
Fantastic content ❤ God bless you & your family 🙏🏻
Thank you!
I sure appreciate the comments.
I want to join and hear your experienced man stories. Respect for hard work and curiosity of nature.

Prayers to you too.
Still haven't adjusted the clutch they're videos on how to adjust on here
No I haven’t but soon. I guess I’m a procrastinator. 👍😀
Awesome...looking good my friend
@@Arizona-.Native.Joshua Thanks. I’m planning to retire from my hardware job maybe I’ll get a bit more done.
@@marvinrschwartz7402 congrats you remind me of my grandpa always busy never could just relax after retirement guess that's how y'all was raised
Thanks for saying that. As a kid my friend and I would do everything exploring fishing camping out at night. We’d leave in the morning and may not get back until evening finding all kind or things to do. It was a fun time to grow up. We also had all kinds of jobs we did. Catching debeaking and vaccinating chickens. Shoveling manure and more. Hard work and hard play was a way of life. You are right I can’t just sit doing nothing. I appreciate you!
@@marvinrschwartz7402 sounds like you had a great childhood good times..these days kids get these new technology apps that's are garbage..
Good stuff congrats on the new build 👍🏼
Thanks! This month I’ll be doing a few more fixits on this truck I hope you will stay tuned in.
@@marvinrschwartz7402will do 👍🏼
Hey Marv, remember when a bumper was for bumping !? As you are proving in this video repair series, they are now just giant cosmetic brackets to hold all of the other cosmetics in place. Good lord, what has happened to pride in manufacturing ? It’s become a joke.
Thanks for sharing and yes it’s almost a joke
So beautiful!
Thanks my wife puts a lot of work into it
@@marvinrschwartz7402 good job to your wife! 🙌
Do you want to sell that truck does it have v8 in it I have one just like it might buy it if your interested in selling it and we can agree on price
No I have more projects I need to do on it. Stay tuned to see everything. Thanks for asked my though
Keyless entry, the greatest thing, and the worst thing, ever engineered for todays vehicles.
Yes I was stumped for awhile but finally figured out how to open it. Thanks for watching
Most people use knives like this specifically because they don't want to bother with sharpening. But if you are going to sharpen them, you need to understand that from the factory they ship with *two* bevels on each side of the blade, not just one. Understanding that is the key to sharpening them like a pro.
Yep two sides In the day I sharpened mine often
Great video!!
@@MindyLehman-x6p thanks
What did you mix in the gas?
Did you mix 2t?
@@WeekendJigger-eh1bq I used recreational gasoline, which is ethanol free so and then mix the regular mercury to cycle oil with it 50 to one
Did you forget to install the ball bearing for the enrichner
Good catch! Yes I did.
@@marvinrschwartz7402 I was a Mercury tech for many years, often times the ball bearing gets pushed into the spring causing a very rich condition
@johnropeleski6006 thanks for the tip. The motor runs really good but when cold and first start it starts really hard. Something still isn’t 100%
Well done! I like how you used a decent pallet as your starting point. 👍🏼🎯👏🏼
Thanks it’s a bit overkill but I wanted it to last. And with my skid loader I can move it around.
@@marvinrschwartz7402 yes! This is probably the most practical design I’ve seen👍🏼
Ultrasonic 20 mins to 30 mins...
Thanks agin for the tip
I have worked on slot o Never seen a Honda carb like that. I'm learning
Something else different is the flywheel is under the mower deck. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it. I didn’t realize this until after I made the video.
Don't screw the oil stick in.. Briggs engines you do screw in
Thank you for the tip I will remember this for future projects thanks for watching
I just picked up one of those HRS21 mowers at the curb last week. It had been left outside for years and looked like it went down with the Titanic, but once I got the old gas and water out of it much to my surprise it fired right up and ran great. These are very interesting engines in that they are built “upside down” with the flywheel under the deck and the piston / cam etc. up at the top under a cover. It’s like Honda just let the engineers run wild and do whatever they wanted with this one. Great mowers, I’m keeping mine for rough work and trimming.
Now that’s very interesting I did not realize that. Makes me want to tear one apart
There is an untapped market for old timers like ourselves who just want straight answers and no bs videos, keep on doing what you are doing… Does not matter if you hit the big time, what matters is you care, and we love you for that ❤
Now that is encouraging THANKS!!!
One thing never changes, finding a good repair shop is like finding a diamond in the rough… where i live i have spent 25years finding a good mechanic.. i will not recommend him… if you spend 25 years looking for a good one… why the hell would i want him to raise his prices and put you on a 3 to 5 month waiting list? I give him as much work as i can..
Yes so true and thanks

Thanks for the video, not far off approaching the golden age myself, i appreciate the effort that took, i have a chainsaw that needs looking at.. it probably is uneconomical to repair but i like tinkering with engines, besides, if its busted then i can’t break it but your video has given me the motivation to have another go at it… besides, chainsaws fit on the desk easier, not so tough on the knees.. 😁
Yes, I hear ya chainsaws are easier at least on the back and the knees, but they are so tiny fact is I had one that really busted my chops that I showed on my channel. I’ll leave a link in this message but with that chainsaw I took it into a shop 30 years ago and they told me it was junk and would never run again. Thanks for the comment and I challenge you to keep going. Hey Marv, I do a fair amount of rattle can spraying, so I can relate to the finger length thing when holding on to the the spray can, lol. For the past few projects I have had to do, I’ve been using the Rustoleum spray can trigger handle that clamps onto the can. For me personally, It is the best thing since sliced bread ! It’s almost akin to using a regular spray gun. I highly suggest trying it Sir ! Great video !
@@yzmoto80 thanks and yes I’ll give the trigger handle a try. Again thanks for watch and the suggestion.
why did you use paint and not an Undercoating product? just curious
If I ever sell it I want people to see what it is under coats can hide a lot of rust giving the appearance of being better than it is plus I really won’t drive this in the winter. Otherwise I would.
Thanks for asking
If theirs a nail, theirs a hammer/square/ruler/angles
Yes these are pretty neat hammer. Did you check out my channel youtube.com/@marvinrschwartz7402?si=mEcGZoviOKLA6UpI
That was great. I like to fix things too. I think I am older than you, so I have the same problem as you, and then some. My kids say to just throw it away, but that's no fun. It's fun to fix things.
Keep it up and yes we were taught to fix but anymore it’s a throw away world. Thanks for the input and watching
You need a plastic welding kit! Metal staples would hold that part together.
Tanks for the tip. I did find a new one then. I have a playlist with all the videos of this outboard linked below if you are interested ua-cam.com/play/PLixR3FUmp19Qjpkm43iLH6BsrsUv_vWzI.html&si=I6BjYL0-VDVV_2sd
That’s a rough ride Marv, I had an Ecoboost F150. Hopefully they changed the oil frequently as those turbos are very sensitive to dirty oil.
I hope so too
That’s a rough ride Marv, I had an Ecoboost F150. Hopefully they changed the oil frequently as those turbos are very sensitive to dirty oil.
It’s been taken care of. It was part of a construction fleet. Owned by a small contracting company. I’m not investing too much into repairs just enough to make someone a cheap vehicle.
You're were just like my grandpa always staying busy doing some kind of project. That's awesome 👍
I take this as a great compliment! One of the reasons I am making these videos is so later in life my grandkids will have something to remember me by.
The other thing these motors need is to get rid of the flat no gap spark plugs. Use a traditional gapped plug and they will not foul out if you do a lot of idling. The only other things that would make it run bad are the crank seals sucking air. But it looks like you got her doing well. Just make sure you replace the water pump if it has been sitting. You don't want a petal breaking off and get shoved up into the block.
@@tommeboy3334 sorry for the delayed response. I have learned so much from individuals like you in the comments. This motor does run now but starts a bit hard. My plans are to tear down the bottom end replacing seals and reeds. Also teak the timing some. Thanks for your help.
Rebuild your fuel pump!
Thank you I did finally got this motor running here’s a link if you are interested ua-cam.com/play/PLixR3FUmp19Qjpkm43iLH6BsrsUv_vWzI.html&si=gKPJPnq8njkHmcFu
Go outside have some fun with your toys you wont regret...or make some room and sell
I will most likely sell or give away.
You have a wonderful, positive, and loving attitude Sir. Very well done ! And please always remember, you are posting videos on an internationally available viewing stage, there is always going to be someone who very unfortunately lives in a life of misery, and will try and include you in that misery. Don’t give them the satisfaction of even mentioning their negativity. Keep on going with your happiness, and share your wisdom with the world Sir ! ❤️❤️
