2019 Gatton CNC Christmas Challenge
In this video I make printing blocks for Christmas themed lunch bags on a CNC.
First time trying to film a CNC project and you can tell I need some practice! The camera was going the wrong way for a bit, oops. More down here ↓↓↓ Click SHOW MORE!
These designs are from a collection of vintage letterpress clip art. If I have time I will re-carve the Happy Holidays design. I was using scrap wood and I don't think I carved deep or evenly enough. But for the sake of time and getting the video finished I carved away a little extra material with a small chisel and it printed better. The ornament block came out much better, imo.
I've been obsessed with printmaking for many years and just got my first CNC in November. I love working with wood and making prints. I hope to get better at filming projects and using my CNC.
Stuff I'm using:
Piranha FX CNC in a homemade dust box
90° 1/2" V bit
1/4" end mill for the clearing path.
Software used Vectric Vcarve Desktop, Photoshop & Illustrator
Xcut Xpress craft press
Still lots to learn. Thanks to UA-cam videos by Vectric and Mark Lindsay CNC for getting me this far. Lots further to go.
Happy Holidays!

Переглядів 36 тис.10 років тому
We've had this truck for a year and a half. I got rid of the camper shell, cleaned it up, got a 520 dash and made some other improvements. Still have the original L16 and 4 speed transmission. Thanks for watching!

I wonder though. The 1970, and 71 and 72 1/2 Datsun trucks had square side marker lights. This one has round side marker lights like the 68 and 69 Datsun trucks had on them.

My dad bought a 1970 Datsun 1600 in baby blue color. That was the first straight drive vehicle that I learned to drive in 1981. It was hit in an accident by another drunk driver and was totaled by insurance company. Man I miss that little truck.

Sad that a drunk driver took it out. I wish with all my heart that these little trucks could only come back into production all over again. Gas is headed towards five dollars a gallon now in days, Go Figure.

A 1970 Datsun Pickup was my first car ever, it did everything so well and was so reliable, I put 50,000 miles on it in the first year, I drove it from California to St. Louis to get Married, it hauled many motorcycles, furniture, lumber, Surfboards and for having 96 hp and only weighing 1,900 pounds, it was fast for its time, I could beat Porsche 914’s all day with it, and it got a consistent 25 mpg.

The 1969, 1970, 1971, and 1972 Datsun/Nissan trucks were a 521 series truck. They were really beautiful in looks and performance and ran very well, giving especially great gasoline mileage. It would be nice that these little girls would come back into production once again as gasoline prices are going towards 5 dollars a gallon and yet even much more in todays modern society year 2023.

Sweet! Drove across the country and back in my ‘71 back in 1983. What a great truck. I’d forgotten exactly how spartan the interior was.

I had one...for 30 years. Then after giving it to my two kids. I gave it to Boys Ranch. There never will be another smaller truck with a mighty heart like this truck.

In 1972 I bought a 1970 Datsun pick-up that looked almost exactly like yours, down to the camper top, only difference is that mine was maroon. I only drove it in the summer months since I live in the snow, ice and salt area up north. Loved that sucker, and it took all the beating I could hand it. Only improvement I made was to have the seat reupholstered with real vinyl and a bit more padding than the factory originally put in. Sold mine in 1974, but I'd buy another one in a heartbeat if I could find another with the same early body style. Have fun with yours.... I sure did with mine.

This is a 521 series Datsun/Nissan truck. They are beautiful in looks, beautiful running little trucks as long as you keep up with matianence on them. I to live in an area whare there is snow and ice, however with these little girls, best to paint the underside of the truck chassis and floorboards, all the frame along with the underside of the bed, every conceivable place you can paint black rust olem paint underneath the truck. When you do that, your preserving it and keeping it from rusting. Then of course, you also want to always keep a fresh coat of car wax on the outside of your truck to. Now in days, a paint on bed liner is a great way to go keeping the bed from getting scratched up to much and yet functional when you want to haul anything in the back of the truck.

That would be a 521 series Datsun/Nissan truck as 1972 was the last year that series truck was produced. In 1973, the 620 series trucks were introduced and were produced until 1979.

Sweet looking truck! My aunt and uncle had a Datsun pickup truck, it looked just like this, except theirs was red, and I don't remember it ever having a canopy.
