    I never understood why people in USA are so worried about Gibson headstock being copied after the actual model. when the entire guitar body is exactly like Gibson and so many other guitar companies are replicating the same and that's not a concern to anyone at all!!! why worry about the headstock? IMO, Gibson should be out of business for f**& sake. A decent Gibson costs $3000 at least and how many people can actually afford that? All these overrated guitar companies should be kicked out of guitar business world period and let the other companies come in and make decent guitars with affordable price! So that guitar players can really enjoy an instrument!

    I don't want to call you an idiot but your without a doubt in labor and materials going to put into that what a Gibson Les Paul costs.... remember the only super expensive ones are with fancy finishes or artists signatures,, that crap bumbs the price double and Way beyond... There's collectors grade and players grade and players grade used guitars that sell for half... I'm far from rich and when I was a kid I managed to have a Paul, it wasn't that hard and that was many years ago, I think I paid under 400......, Also , let's add in two things,, one , your order was something most can't do and two , I haven't yet played a guitar Epiphone included that felt or sounded as good as a Gibson,,, so , what are you accomplishing...., LASTLY, EVEN AS YOU SAY " THE WOOD" IS AS GOOD AND ITS ALL SIMILAR IN CONSTRUCTION, I WILL BET YOY 1000 BUCKS THAT IN 5 YEAR'S THE CHIPSON LOOKS LIKE SHIT AND THE PAUL WILL LOOK LIKE NEW

    Hello Jimmy, this is Jimmy in Tampa ,FL, and I have a question for you. Since you are so familiar with Chinese Les Pauls, could you direct me to the one of which you deem to be the best manufacturer and qaulity? This is my first time viewing one of your videos and i enjoyed it very much. You have a lot of knowledge on my favorite guitar of all times. Would you please direct me to the proper company I should purchase from ? Also, I am wondering how you will change out the frets due to the binding wrapping over the ends ? Appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience with us.

    • @JS-lr8nj
      @JS-lr8nj 2 роки тому

      James, I couldn't tell you. When selecting a manufacturer, I needed to find one that was willing to do a very small production run. (Versus, say, 100 or 200 units.) If you want an overseas-made really good Les Paul Clone, look for something made by World Musical Instrument in Korea. The folks making Chibsons and selling on places like Ali Express are just completely inconsistent. Also, the person who sells you the guitar is never the person who made it. The people selling are like brokers, and they buy from the manufacturers. These sellers TRULY don't care which guitar you get. They might sell guitars from a good manufacturer for 10 years, then run out and sell the worst guitar in the country. You may want to check out the Chibson review channels on youtube. WMI makes Les Paul clones, but not very close copies, in the US. You can check out AIO Wolf guitars as an example. Used, they go for maybe $300. As far as I know, WMI makes pretty close Les Paul Clones in other countries, though. You may be able to find one of those if you look. Also, guitars like the Tokai Love Rock isn't really available in the US, but it's available in Canada. So, you can order from a Canadian store. The other thing to consider is that once you add hardware, etc., you're better off just buying a used Epiphone Les Paul. Gibson is getting away from the "headstock of shame" to punish people who buy an Epiphone. Those are basically chinese-made Les Pauls, but with good quality control. (Make sure to go with a recent one. Early chinese Epis are very inconsistent.) You can buy new epi les pauls for $500, and used ones for $300 and less. Gibson doesn't make binding over fret anymore. These guitars don't have it, either. In the past, you just trimmed the binding and refrets had "fret over binding" versus binding over fret.

    Typical white racist guy. I didn't know a guitar can have an ethnicity. Never heard of a Chinese guitar. I can understand if the title said guitars made in China. But you did the typical white guy with no sense of culture other than white. Let me guess, when Fender have their guitars made in Mexico, MIM, those guitars are called Mexican guitars.

    Good unboxing. Did the custom specs double the price? Did any of the six come with an actual flamed maple cap? Do any of the six have any identifying markings inside that show it was made in China? I'm trying to identify the country of origin for my LP copy. All the measurements are correct. It has a nice neck with larger frets and nice inlays. It has no logo or name on the headstock (all black). The body is 2" thick mahogany with an actual flamed maple cap (veneer on back). Comes in at 7lbs 6oz and it sounds and plays great. It had some writing in the pu cavities and I showed it to a couple of Chinese and Japanese friends, but neither could identify the writing.

    • @JS-lr8nj
      @JS-lr8nj 2 роки тому

      I think it's a flame maple veneer o a thick maple (non-flame) cap. If it's an actual flame maple cap, IDK. that would be surprising. I specifically wanted things like a scarf joint on the neck so that these can't be confused with a real LP. But honestly, I think if you dismantle an actual gibson LP, you can see the difference in quality. These are maybe a in the ballpark of epiphone quality. I know gibson gets a bad rap, but the4y do make quality guitars.

    Gibson could learn a lot by making guitars this way and letting players do their own modifications and hardware. Hell, I bought a Gibson Les Paul and paid over. 1000 dollars for parts to make it better for me…. I bought a Chibson for 229 and added 150 worth of parts and it plays and sounds better than my real LP…. Gibson should reimburse China for FREE advertising by having their name on a Chinese guitar…. Gibson should also invest into China and get these guitars in the hands of everyone they can at an affordable price. If it were not for Slash, after Les Paul himself , Gibson would be looking for a hero…. And let’s NOT forget that Slash had a FAKE Gibson made by Chris Derrig, RIP. Gibson did not sue or go after Chris for making a realistic copy of a 59 LP…… I love my Chibson and you should too and unless you are allergic to having money in your pocket, buying a Chibson will save you money for a Friedman Amp and pedals…. Win …win

    I have one that has a 2 piece body and a 12mm maple cap which I thought would have a veneer over it but more poking in the cavities with a sharp chisel revealed it's actually a flamed maple cap. I got the guitar from a guy in my locality and did a swap for an ibanez gio And I think I came out pretty well. I did have to level and re dress the frets and it has the usual cheap bridge and tuners and horrible plastic nut which I swapped for a bone item and fitted Grover tuners. Overall it's very nice now and I think I'll keep it, at least for the foreseeable future.
