I am so disgusted that the writers are using Octavia as an ‘obstacle’ to her dad’s sex life. There’s no character this ship won’t trample all over and twist to be part of its narrative. (Brandon Roger’s called her a cockblock) Medrano and the animation leads also said Octavia, a child, was one of their least favourite characters. Because she criticises their precious prince.

45:11 another thing to note, it’s Gamzee specifically that summons Cal into dream Dave’s tower using weird Rage powers. It’s whenever Gamzee’s talking about making their universe terminal, he also summons the Jack doll to dream John’s tower. So possibly without even realizing it, in summoning Cal to Dave’s tower he may have been pulling Cal from the void that Roxy will/already has banished Cal to.

Loved this video! I think about this a lot, so seeing an actual in depth video on this sort of obscure homestuck topic on my feed surprised the hell out of me lol. Definitely keep up the good work!

Given Helluva Boss is slowly falling off (decreasing views per episode) I'd say this video called it. People are sick of the Stolitz melodrama. Especially those who know it's endgame. Making the melodrama feel like padding.

I used to watch NC when I was in middle school. I only stopped watching NC, because of the Wall Review when I was a sophomore in high school, then I heard about the Not so Awesome controversy a few months later from my friends. I thought that review was worse. I haven't watched NC in a long time, but I'm glad to see your point of view on NC reviews.

Just remembered an interaction i had with my mother after watching his review, when it's just came out (It is her fav film). I was like "Hey, there is this guy, who said that Rango wasn't that good and deep", and she looked me right in the eyes and said with full seriousness, i quote "If this GuY thinks this movie is mid- he's dumb". I'm not gonna elaborate it any further.

I had to come back to this video. Because Doug basically did the whole "Maybe someone say these ideas and did something better with them" BS again with The Hollow Man. Because it didn't go super deep into themes of gaslighting, voyeurism, and SA that somehow makes The Hollow Man far worse than the Blumhouse version of The Invisible Man. Doug CAN still make good videos. I've seen him do it (yes, not that great of a person but I follow a lot of horrible people. I care more about their content than content of character unless certain boundaries get crossed), but at this point I have to watch the END of his review before everything else to make sure he's actually engaging with the material instead of what he wants it to be or do.

I’m starting to think you didn’t like NC’s Osmosis Jones review

I just want to say something I said when I watched this with a group of friends. Man Knuckle's voice is jarring given how he usually sounds like now adays. That being said, I like that hat. We should have kept the hat.

I'll take Rango over Minions or any other Illumination slop anyday.

The only way Stolitz can work is if it serves a purpose narratively. No matter what, if he remained a villain who KNOWS he takes advantage of imps, that version of Stolas is the only way his existence would make sense. Because, rather than creating conflict for Blitz and higher stakes, and possibly bring forth a topic of SA that doesn't get much representation (male survivors in this case)- they turned Stolas into MLM wish fulfillment, by nullifying his already amazing characterization, which had potential for being the main villain. It ruins the world building of imp classism. The oppression could have become a main plotline, maybe it could have even ended with assassinating Stolas. But that's if the team wasn't full of fanfic writers trying to make a quota so the emo teens will buy their latest Stolitz ship merch. At this point that's all it is.

I know for a fact if Rango was more "weird without any explanation" like Doug Walker suggests, he'd just complain that it doesn't explain those elements Coming from someone that has watched Rango this year and loved the hell out of it, I'm glad you are still putting Doug in his place, he's everything wrong with online reviewers He's lost his way since his anniversary films amongst other movie-parody related fuck ups he did At least in 2010 I could say he was being comedic, even if it doesn't land now he always is trying to make a serious point all the time but he's not capable of putting in effort to do research (unless it's Avatar the Last Airbender) so his points are pointless like the pointless moments in his heads that claim are in films that go over his head (*cough* Bebe's Kids(classic but still counts)) I can't stand when critics try so hard to be comedically angry and or humorous all while trying to make a big point about something (for his Christmas with the Kranks video, he just spelled his points out for us like we're children) and they're even bad at making a good point Granted, I'm not a sophisticate I laugh at the stupidest jokes from Flapjack, Chowder, and Seasons 4-6 of Spongebob but even I could digest Rango I find it funny that someone who watches more "sophisticated" animated series' such as Batman the Animated fucking Series and Animaniacs can't even digest Rango Hell he talks about how Bruce Timm's batman villain meetups inspired the anniversary films he made but he forgot to make them well written Here though, he's really hit the sauce this time

This review is a classic case of criticizing something for what it isn't rather than for what it is What Rango is trying to be is a western, not yet another deconstruction or parody just an honest to goodness western movie What nostalgia critic wanted was an episode of love death and robots, something you won't understand on your first viewing and it generally vauge and mysterious This kind of mindset "this isn't what I specifically want therefore it's bad" is the definition of a bad faith criticism, acting like the film has to be exactly what the person in question wants otherwise it's no good, which is one of the worst forms of criticism
