This is so stupid, I seriously had a whole month to think about making this and I still did it why- (it’s because Christmas is on a Wednesday this year)

Context:
So Commonwealth of England banned Christmas which wasn’t very nice of him.
Everyone in the first scene (England obviously, Yorkshire, and Wales) is royalist and doing something Commonwealth of England would disapprove of (England and Yorkshire are drinking and Wales is standing next to a Christmas tree. Christmas trees weren’t really decorated at the time but they were the decoration themselves)
Commonwealth of England is annoyed by this
Younger Commonwealth is shown with England who is dressed as the Lord of Misrule who was basically someone appointed during the Christmas season to be in charge of Christmas celebrations which often involved wild parties and drinking (the younger Commonwealth had longer hair by the way but he cut it when he was older which is also why he was called a Roundhead) his younger self here is also wearing clothes from a portrait of Charles II as a child
Commonwealth is then shown writing a letter to Papal State and here he is shown wearing clothes from a portrait of Puritans (the Puritans, very appropriately, liked wearing “sadd colours”)
The Papal State is annoyed at the letter but in all honesty he’s received one of those from everyone so he doesn’t really care. His hat by the way is called a “galero” and was worn by cardinals until the 1960s.
In 1644 the Commonwealth of England banned Christmas because it happened to fall on the last Wednesday of December, his day of monthly fasting and prayer. (Scotland had already banned it in 1640) In 1645, he banned Christmas again and said it wasn’t supposed to have any special celebrations or services. In 1647 he banned Christmas AGAIN, this time completely banning any celebration, even in private, and this time there were riots in Kent (probably so they could be Royalist more than because they were against the ban) In 1652 (did this guy have nothing better to do with his time when he wasn’t trying to end the world or something?) he had laws that fined anyone caught going or having a service during Christmas and ordered shops to stay open. He also changed the name of “Christ-tide” because “Christmas” sounded too Catholic and was too popish or something. He also didn’t like gambling which is why Kent is shown with some cards but it’s a bit hard to see-
Despite all these bans, people still celebrated Christmas and the sound of people having fun kept him awake at night.
His hitlist is just people/ countries he doesn’t like. I had considered adding Spanish Empire and Dutch Republic but he hates the ones on the list far more.
The last scene with them he is trying to take away a mince pie from England. This would’ve been in 1644 when they were supposed to be fasting-
