@@MysticMiniaturesForge yeah, I feel like the rules are too complex/too many, which is a bit of a deterrent in my enjoyment. I feel like Hawker (my opponent in this video) and I both have a decent grasp on the rules, and we still fuck them up a few times per game.

But green 💚 and Kessig Rangers 🐺 (SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE VIDEO) I wonder if any 500 pt AotP army would have a winning record against 8 sets of Stingers. The heroscape diehards seem to think that AotP is completely OP in a fight against heroscape, but the common spam armies from heroscape seem to beg to differ, especially with results from games like this. It's even crazier because Arlinn's armies are amongst the hardest to beat in AotP, yet a shitload of Stingers walked all over her.

You're not wrong. Americans spend a lot of money that they don't have on things they don't need (often, for the latest fashion trend, probably due to perceived social pressure/trying to look rich and cool.) People in my personal life do not think this is a good price. Hell, I do a Heroscape-aligned YT channel and I think it's too expensive, and I love the game! When it costs as much as the leading miniatures wargame (Warhammer is probably the most popular wargame in the US) many people aren't going to buy the niche game when they can get the established and popular game for the same price.

@@stormk-1130 No, not cheaper, it's about the same price. Warhammer is arguably better quality and has a much more recognizable name/community, though. The price tag of heroscape doesn't match its popularity/renown.

But is not a disadvantage to play warhammer with a starter kit? if you like to play with other people how can you beat better armies than yours. i know warhammer 40k is really big. And heroscape dont have that much figures so is easy to buy and get. Also to play. At the end you dont spend more money in 40k? Btw what you recommend to start in warhammer?

@@stormk-1130 Heroscape has *tons* of figures, if you count the old stuff from ~2005-ish. And THOSE are *VERY EXPENSIVE* to get copies of. I know from a buddy in my area that a local game store is doing heroscape tournaments and they allow the use of those old figures, and the masses of common squads are more powerful than the new heroscape figures. Idk what to tell you about Warhammer... I don't play Warhammer, it's too expensive and I don't like painting miniatures. The same reasons why I'm not playing the new heroscape 😆

@@lefton4ya Oh SICK thanks for chiming in 🔥🔥🔥 I expected that nobody had ever attempted it, given basically every heroscape player I've talked to never gave AotP even a first thought despite it being 80% the same game engine. I'd expect that blue and green are worse into heroscape, especially bc blue's nature of countering spells, while red and black are probably the more OP stuff due to their general ability to kill low life squads. The standard heroscape common spam meta builds would probably do decently enough into any AotP that isn't red or black, but in general, the name of the game for beating AotP armies is to kill the Planeswalker before they can play all of their spells (this is often the key in non-scenario deathmatch AotP games) and I'd bet that heroscape has the tools available to them to pull that off with some reasonable consistency. Namely, single-target assassins or board control figures which can maim/expose the Planeswalker - think Cyprien, Sujoah, Wyvern, Gladiatrons, maybe even the Deathstalkers, and a good chunk of the dragons (Nilfhiem and Charos especially, but even Braxas would melt AotP's multi-life squads just as easily), etc. So, are you saying you are here to play our refined mixed ruleset with us? 💪🏻😉

@@aiRCoft I'll have to check it out 😆 I enjoy a good corporate hate post. Have you heard of Arena of the Planeswalkers (AotP)? It's literally Heroscape (figures, 3D terrain, army cards, hexes, same move + attack systems, etc) but also has a spell deck, and set in the world of MTG; many recognizable cards and faces. You can still find ENTIRE AotP sets on eBay and such for $25 + shipping! If you want a game similar to Heroscape that's actually affordable, jump in. My channel covers AotP heavily, we have a whole community working on customs and playing games online! You can find links to the discords and subreddit in the description of this video.

@@unhingedmanchild Oh yeah, I actually have all three of the _Arena of the Planeswalkers_ games, because there were rumored custom C3V/SoV units that used them, which never came to fruition... I haven't actually played them, but I only paid like $5-$10 for each of them, years ago. And hey, thanks for the info! :D

​@@aiRCoftDamn you never played AotP?!?!? Many of us who play AotP find that it's absolutely an upgrade in strategic options over regular heroscape. It's 75% the same rules. If you have a good understanding of heroscape, you can be taught AotP *very quickly*. I'm honestly shocked at the general hatred of AotP that comes from the heroscape community (not talking about you specifically here, ofc) when many of them never even learned how to play. I've been in bouts with the heroscape sub bc I WILL promote AotP and they come back saying things like "AotP is bad bc reason XYZ" and I can immediately debunk it bc their reasoning is literally illegal by the rules; they were playing the game wrong. Dawg, if you ever want to play AotP online (or if you'd like to play heroscape against AotP online) hit me up, I'd be happy to get a game in! I appreciate you spending your time here!

Yes, great comment, this is something to consider. However, that's not a standard I'm buying into. I already don't play Warhammer for that reason; too expensive and I'm not spending my time to paint - I wanna game, not be a painting artist. Economy is way dumpstered rn for me to spend $65 on a figure

I tried fighting your team with only 6 units but I did a miss play with veyle on the last turn. It was close. But then I used a normal team and sweeped the your units. Man they are super tough. Congrats on a great defense.

@@Arilinity I’m actually about to update it by having more halberdiers, and changing the emblems a little bit, halberdier has surprisingly decent magic for a physical class and way better bulk than the tome classes, so I’n trying out a Soren and Celica on halberdiers. Soren is better when you consider chain attacks too.
