I’m back on my bullshit. Here’s a little Shared System diddy recorded to my Tascam at half speed 🖤
Buchla Easel/Digitakt - HSC

More experiments with the MOOD, Easel and Takt’ combo. This one gets a little “line noisey” thanks to the quietness of each loop I’ve recorded but I think it kind of works ❤️ A long version of this will be used as the backing track for the next episode of my podcast, The Deerhorn. The guest is also a fellow ambient musician on UA-cam 👍

Some more Easel n Digitakt asynchronous fun. Easel is also processing a field recording! Ultrasheer on the reverb duty ❤️
Buchla Easel/Digitakt - Sand & Sea

I played some phrases from the Easel live into the Digitakt and let them play asynchronously. No sequencer with a little bit of modulation, pitch shifting and some field recordings to lay the cherry on top 🍒
Phenol/Cocoquantus - Faded Grey

I wanted to test the Phenol out for processing external audio! In this jam Phenol is processing a couple loops from Blooper & CT5 via it's bandpass filter. Coco has a pitched down version of those loops frozen in it's buffer and later in the track I fade in a Phenol voice which is being sequenced by the Digitakt. I'm still feeling out this setup but I hope it can be the rig I use to start worki...
Phenol/Digitakt/Plumbutter/Coco - Background Beginnings

This one is a little busy and messy in stereo but I am getting closer to the sound I've been trying to find with this setup! Digitakt samples are all OP-1 through my pedal board and the Digitakt runs into the AV Dogs on Plumbutter. I'm using the random LFO on Phenol at audio rate to modulate the AV dogs VCA section. This is similar to using dust but I found it to have a different vibe and it's ...

I've had this patch set up for a couple days and wanted to record it quick before I tore down. Sorry about the shitty camera view. If anyone is curious what's going on, I'll do a quick rundown since the video won't help at all: - Phenol is sequenced by the Digitakt. That's the main melodic voice that plays into a drenched Ultrasheer. I've took the clock out from the Phenol and ran that into the...

A nice little rainy day jam! This one was inspired by Aldrin and the way that he used asynchronous looping on the Octatrack to create his amazing album, Parentes. You can find the album via Folded Note Records here: aldrinsound.bandcamp.com/album/parentes There's also a second edition cassette of my album, Due To, available over there too :) My pedalboard is off camera but its basically just a ...

It’s been awhile but I’ve been busy, busy, busy! A repress of my album “Due To” is now available via Folded Note Records here (in case you missed it): foldednote.bandcamp.com/album/due-to I was recently a guest on the amazing Podular Modcast too! That was very surreal. You can hear that chat here: podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/podular-modcast/id1363821591?i=1000531569908 I also released an EP f...
Elektron Digitakt - Pacific Phase

I biked into Pacific Spirit today with my Digitakt and a Glock. While biking in I put my phone in my shirt pocket and hit record. I sampled the ride in and hard panned a copy to each side with P locked pitch shifting to create the crumbly textures. Every other sound came from samples of the Glockenspiel. Some of the resonances create a somewhat dissonant feel but the major key scale kind of hel...

It’s been awhile but I think the Digitakt single synth dumps will start again. I have so much fun making these little Digitakt soundscapes but they never amount to anything I’d want to actually save for a release but I do like them enough to share :) Synth sounds were all made with a Yamaha Reface CS via melodies I played in manually and chopped up. The rest of the noise comes from the lower cl...

Another little Digitakt jam made with oscillator samples from my 2600. I’m about to tear down my studio as we continue prepping for a move to the coast so this optimistic little jam will be the last for awhile 👋

I clocked the SQ-1 in this patch via the pulse out of the SSG’s smooth side which was self cycling. However, that clock and wave was feeding the stepped side which I then patched to control the rate of the smooth sides LFO. It was a tricky patch to dial in as the sequencer could easily brought to a halt. Way more magic happened before I started recording but I wanted to share this snippet at le...
Lovely stuff, thanks for sharing. I'm trying to convince myself I don't need an Easel but it's not going well!
Beautiful performance! 👏
👂🏽 ♥️
Hi Is the seq modified for the Serge?
I'd like to see you do a patch from scratch like this one.
I wish I could figure out how to make a patch like this anymore haha
Really really nice!
I don’t really hear too much of that low bit rate ringing on this… it’s what bothers me most I can deal with the sound and such but that ringing really gives it away as a bit crusher of some sort. How did you achieve a patch like this without the ring?
The slower the clock rates are, the more that sound comes in. I can’t remember for certain but it’s likely that the delay time was just a lot shorter here. A lot of people embrace the bit crush and slow clock crunch so I def get what you’re saying!
Lovely work on this Jae !
Thank you ❤
very cool beat and sounds ... this PB2 looks very intriguing and appealling !
HI, I try to put my address here but it seems it gets deleted every time. I wrote you on insta, just in case. Thanks!
Hi! sorry to disturb here... is there a way to get your PB unofficial manual? I tried writing you in lines. Thanks!
What’s your email? I can try and send it that way. I haven’t been into music much lately so haven’t really been on lines or anything. Lemme know ❤️
@@jaeryan1337 it is simont , followed by the snail, followed by simont , then a dot and then O, R, and G 🙂
😍
Lush!
Great video! Is it an AV Dog doing the drone and then the Deer Horn making those almost vocal like "oh oh"s? Beautiful!
I think so! It’s been a bit but that def sounds right.
Awesome sounds. What’s sequencing?
Korg SQ-1 :)
really nice !
I want to purchase one myself I'm undecided between this and Inori. what can you tell me ? thanks
love it!
Hi Jae Fantastic!
This sounds very inspiring. I have to hook up the Easel with the Digitakt and a looper.
Love this
That first pad sounds absolutely amazing!
Very nice. Sorry about the missing tree. ❤
The sound of earth weeping
Do you think this could be recreated with the Arturia software version of the Easel? That is if I can somehow zoom in and see the patch cables!
I don’t see why not! I believe the software has everything and more 🙏
So perfect track... this transitions... and so well tuned <3
Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. I have a "modern" Easel preordered for Fall of 2023. It's almost humbling given how amazing is this instrument. So great to hear and see you play and perform on it!
Enjoy it! It’s a classic
Just now found this. Its so nice seing someone using a Ciat-Lonbarde instrument for something ambient and _not_ chaotic.
Great work! remind me "Everything ends here" by Cortini & Don Buchla)
❤
Gorgeous stuff
nice track and i realllly dig the title of it, v spooky
I keep coming back to this video. One of the best Easel compositions I've heard. I have an easel command but still waiting on the LEM218's to be available. This is fantastic.
What a lovely patch!
Love the slow moving nature of the jam. Rocking.
Nice jam! Subbed.
~ greetings from germany ~
Awesome patch, how are you sequencing this?
Thanks ❤️ and SQ-1 I do believe!
@@jaeryan1337 ah nice nice - I've been watching your Serge and Easel videos. Which do you prefer?
@@LeeCantare I’ve bought and sold several different serge setups. I’ve bought and sold the Easel a few times but it’s almost always been one of my main instruments. I still own it but no serge! I think it depends on the person though! Serge is one of my favourite sounding instruments of all time BUT it’s a lot of work to patch and make music. I like the immediacy and “instrument” side of the easel a lot more, plus it has the depth for patching if you really need
amazing almost sounds like formants around 5 minutes
Wow this is so good, what a trip! Would love to listen more. Did you publish anything outside youtube?
Thank you very much! I do ❤️ foldednote.bandcamp.com/album/due-to And also: samueledmund.bandcamp.com
Curious. Is there an adaptor you use for connecting the SQ-1 to banana cables? Also curious if you use any other Eurorack sequencers with La Bestia?
This just showed up on my home page, lovely stuff my dude 🖤
excellent. i repeat. excellent.
it rains on my youtube account...yes!
I like the non melodic parts of it......where the high pass filtgers takes away the melody. dhoes that make sense? ytyty
👍I LOVE ! 💙⚪❤
Love this
Absolutely beautiful, thank you for sharing.
Really nice ..... which effects do you use ?
did you build this panel yourself?
