Rare Action on the NS Asheville District (October 2024)
On Sunday October 6, 2024, Norfolk Southern ran train E11 out of Oyama Yard in Hickory, NC with traffic going towards Linwood Yard. The pair of Geeps (normally used as power for P71 and P95) would muscle almost 7,000 feet of train from Hickory to Barber where they would leave the cars for P61 to take the rest of the way to Linwood. On the return to Oyama, E11 picked up SD40-2 3270 along with 45 cars headed for Hickory. Enjoy the sights and especially the sounds of these old EMD workhorses and they prove their worth on the railroad just one more time.
On a side note, Western North Carolina and East Tennessee have be ravaged by Hurricane Helene with many folks loosing everything they have with some even loosing their lives. Please keep these folks in your thoughts and prayers… They need every bit of help they can get.

On September 16, 2023, I traveled to East Tennessee to witness a rather rare occasion, a doubleheader featuring TVRM stars 630 and 4501 on the first return trip to Summerville, Georgia. Weather, as well as a finicky camera affected what shots I could get, nonetheless I hope you enjoy this return of steam to the Peach Tree State!

I got word that NS 8099 (Southern) would lead NS 101 west from Bulls Gap, Tennessee in good lighting so I headed west for the volunteer state. I also caught several other NS merchandise trains while I was there as well.

Supposed to be headed for a restoration. It will return as a power cab car for the museum.
This could honestly be the new P60. Uses SD40's and heads to Barber. Its been like 4 years since P60 has touched east of Hickory. Still, its pretty amazing to se a big train lead by GP38's. Nice catch Ryan!

@@trirail812productions8 Asheville is NS only. Nothing runs east of Asheville besides P89, P87, and P60. West of Asheville is 135 and 136.

@@Help_2024 no it wasnt home made. This whistle was made when steam was a big deal in the United states. So its origin we have no clue, but we did get it due to the resemblance of the polar express sound
