I could never avoid speculating that Garibaldi probably had a close family member who was very savagely attacked, or who might even have been murdered.
Did they check every part of the station before destroying it? There might have been a lurker hidden in Down Below.
why blow it up tho ? they could just made it into a casino and hotel joint
The sad part is that the creators of GOT knew this well before they started GOT
"Swallowed in fire but not in darkness."
How a good cop can stop a situation from escalating.
Did "DS9" really rip this show off (nevermind in New York the fact that they both were on WWOR)?
1:19 Humans: forever dumping junk, trash, rubbish and litter in Space
I've been "binging" this series for over the summer. When the series originally aired I only made it to 12th ep/Season 1. Then caught it when I could. Never saw ending of it during any of its seasons let alone finale. I finished finale season/series. Man what a great show. Throughout I steadily found myself a big fan of G'Kar/Andreas Katasulas. He, Furlan, Biggs, Doyle, Firth, Connway.... all gone far too soon. And I found it interesting from beginning that show started from ep1 with "It was the last of the Babylon Projects." Not fully appreciating the reality of that line..........
3:12 That right there can choke you up & make you a little misty eyed. _They're not really gone. Not as long as we remember them._ 🥹
0:07 Man, the first seven seconds and we see a roll call of the dead from the main cast as of September 2024. Just a little depressing, could make one say a discouraging word
It always broke my heart seeing the station go up like that - all those thousands of lives given to defend it over all those years. One thing's for certain, nobody will risk using that jump gate again, not with all that debris flying around the system!
This is how a series should end...
You wouldn't blow up Babylon 5 on purpose. That would create a lot of unnecessary debris which would be a terrible navigation hazard. The best solution for disposing of it is to send it into the system's star.
Susan Ivanova: "Babylon 5 was the last of the Babylon stations. There would never be another. It changed the future, and it changed us. It showed us that we have to create the future, or others will do it for us. It showed us that we have to care for one another, because if we don't, who will?". Those were the last five minutes of Babylon 5, from the series finale entitled Sleeping In Light. It was twenty years after the precedent episodes of the fifth and final season of Babylon 5. The year was 2281. They were and they are still the very best final scenes ever on television. The most beautiful finale of any TV series in history, all genres and styles combined together. There will never be nothing to match it. Excellent narration by Susan Ivanovna (portrayed by Claudia Christian). I know ir's sad to see Babylon 5 exploding in outer space, but that makes the beauty of these final moments of this sci-fi TV series. We will have to wait for long until another sci-fi TV series like this will be releasd. Farewell Babylon 5.
I watched the show religiously back in the 90s... The finale still has me in tears.
that music too
Just one lever destroys the place? Amazing that the enemies didn’t know that.
There was a shut down crew which did what a demolition crew just like we would take out a building
Technically there was a pilot episode before this.
The greatest sci-fi show ever made, just perfection from beginning to end
Sad that Dr. Franklin lived longer than Richard Biggs.
2:33 I love that look Ivanova gives herself, like 'Keep it real! Don't let this position go to your head!'
We're your Rangers. We live for the One, we die for the One.
You’re telling me the Count Dracula looking guy is evil???
WOW. It is so eerie watching this. Knowing that so many of the B5 cast are gone. Sinclair (O'Hare) Zack (Conaway) Delenn (Furlan) Garibaldi (Doyle) Leaving Ivonova (Christian) J'Kar (Katsulas) Sheridan (Boxlightner) Franklin (Biggs) Molari (Jurasic) Vir (Furst) Lenier (Mumy) The sheer number of supporting actors who have passed is vast too. Iconic characters, all of them. I think they are making a huge mistake trying to reboot B5. No one will ever be able to see these characters played by other actors because these actors were monumental. No one will be able to encapsulate the authenticity of Andre Katsulas' voice. Same with Furlan. No one speaks as they do. If they do a reboot, I won't watch it. I have all seasons of B5 on DVD and I cherish them. If they do a reboot it is ONLY FOR CASH.
Bruce Boxleitner is still alive.
Best television ever made, period.
ΤΕΡΆΣΤΙΕ ΘΕΜΗ ... ΦΩΝΑΡΑ ΑΤΕΛΕΊΩΤΗ
That was the brilliance of this show. They had nearly all of the episodes for all five seasons written out and ready to go, with room to maneuver if a cast member had to be replaced (like when Sinclair was replaced with Sheridan). The overall epic story arc could continue even as actors came and went.
NGL, I bawled like a baby when I watched this back in the day. Teared up a bit just now remembering it all. This whole series was a masterpiece.
This is one of the best TV finales I have ever seen and those last five minutes are absolute perfection. I could rewatch this episode and the entire series over and over.
I remember when this aired, on tnt in 1997. The Great Maker, Joe told the composer to break his heart and his wasn't the only one. Everyone in this scene except Ivanova has passed beyond the rim. And what a great emotional poignant ending. The best I have seen for any sci-fi or any series for that matter. bravo
"In one hour I'll have to search your quarters" Fans back in the day asked why Garibaldi didn't search Londo right here for weapons. It's an open secret that the ambassadors smuggle in disassembled weapons via diplomatic parcels. Making things official would just mean Londo gets kicked off the station. Maybe the next ambassador is worse. Maybe Centauri Prime refuses to send another ambassador. Babylon 5's fledgling mission of peace could take a credibility-hit barely into its infancy.
I couldn't stomach this show in it's first run. Pity, watching it later it is one of the best sci-fi shows of all time. Odd, I feel the same way about DS-9 as well.
in many way's i would love a reboot of this show, but if it ever happened it still wouldnt compare to the original it was one of its kind and you just cant replace the cast of this show that has gone across beyond the rim.
Why did they destroy it in the end?
I can't remember exactly, but it was in the way of interstellar traffic and became useless. It would never be useless to me though.
Thank you for this.
Good-Bye, Babylon 5.
Good-Bye, Babylon 5.
I watched every episode. This brought tears to my eyes. But I was truly happy to see Claudia Christian again in the tv series “911”, a show about firefighters and first responders!
One of the best endings, and one of the best shows ever made for television.
It is June 2024. Of the six people who entered the elevator, only one is still alive; the rest are all dead.
I don't care HOW OLD the station was....why destroy it???
B5 was to me the king of Sci-fy and can never get tired of watching it. I wish they could do a B6 series but I doubt it would happen. With the way Hollywood is so screwed up I fear they would just screw it up and being axed half way through the first season never to try again. I can see it now, it would start with the opening Babylon6, where aliens would meet to moan and bitch and whine about DEI and shoot anyone that complains about it. Set in space near the closest McDonalds orbiting wildly around the station run by a sick looking clown called Pennywise who would steal kids from their beds and ram tasteless hamburgers down their throats. Hmm, think it would sell??
Londo and Garibaldi both understand the inevitability of "doing what has to be done", so they never waste time complaining and just get to it.
So many years later, and this STILL hits like a sledgehammer!
Not many shows now that make you feel so much for characters that is what is special about this series every single time I watch this its make me laugh and cry. Bless those who made this and rest assured you will always be remembered.
I think that came from later in the series....not the first episode.
Amazing foreSHADOWing...
what really get you is that Londo is the one who arranges the appointment
And now so many people from B5 gone beyond the Rim. RIP 🙏
