I've been a member of the Screen Actors Guild since 1973. Chico and the Man was my first speaking park. In fact, I actually read for the role of Chico. The producers told me they liked me, but they saw Freddie on Carson and said if he was half as funny as he he was on Johnny Carson, then he would get the job. Then they said if the pilot would sell with Freddy, they would call me. I told my agent what they told me. And I responded that I didn't have a pilot's license. She laughed like hell. Months later, they called me and gave me my first part. I atually opened the Episode number two with a few lines and I was on my way. I went on to do Boulevard Nights for Warner Bros., Scarface for Universal, Commando for Fox, Blood In Blood Out for Hollywood Pictures, Wild Wild West and a few hundred other parts in TV and Film. I used to work as a production assistant (on TV) and I can truly imagine how to director, the cameramen , and the control room staff were all truly laughing out the lungs!
