thanks for taking the time to state this. a lot of people are really reacting emotionally in my opinion out of fear because ai significantly changes the state of things, which excites some makes some uncomfortable and makes others downright near violently angry
Totally! And I think we all need to be able to face those things together but with an open mind about what we can all do creatively and productively with these tools.
Thanks for breaking down the funding of major models, and the GPU resources. I wonder if "professional tools" max out around Adobe size and that the bigger forces will be the attention economy (big social) and the future of work (e.g. if low cost synthetic video could become a standard interface for LLM queries, etc)

yup
finding a fresh channel headed by a real person is a fresh find. subscribed and I can’t wait to keep up with your videos!!
What I feel is much more likely to happen is the primary desk job will be "AI facilitator" or "prompt generation analyst", some corporate name for essentially you babysitting the AI to get the results requested by your higher ups. This could be easily legislated to have lower wages given the expectations of the job, similar to how tipping has shaped the low wages of food service employees. To me, this is such a possibility that its practically a definite, given those in power to legislate and employ the average person would be much more incentivized to steer that direction. I doubt legislators would be so blind as to allow private companies to downsize completely in replacement of AI, especially depending on their function and impact on the average person. Granted, that's assuming by then legislators will still be standing against socialized forms of government meant to address these pitfalls in advancement, which for the US is especially a guarantee.
AI isn’t scary. The people telling you to be scared are just afraid their jobs will be replaced. Progress always makes people upset because it eliminates the need for people in certain positions. Like the legend of John Henry. You won’t ultimately win a battle against the machine. Instead just enjoy the benefits.
Ai is not evil. It can be used for evil. It can make deebfake videos already now where people can not recognise that they are fake. I personally do not like how Ai steals jobs of real artist because they are needed AI can newer create a style of art which has not been created before because it is trained on art that's already created.
Dude re-record it. if you don't care about your video why should I?
I’ve recorded a response video that I posted today with better audio quality. You’re right, people shouldn’t care if I don’t put the good quality audio. But my current goals are consistency and not necessarily perfection, which previously stopped me from posting.
People need to grow up. Theres nothing wrong with this.
barfs in apple 3d sound 🤮🤮🤮🤮
that voda phone advert is horrific....
its not a moment, there is no such thing as "creativity" in AI. its astonishingly mundane and only designed to create cheap slop to push products. big companies love it because it means they don't need to hire real creatives. anyone can pump out this nonsense. if anything it tells me straight away any product its selling is not worth even looking at. I think over time its just going to be a way to fast track damage to a brand.
AI can create stuff, and then humans touch it up and improve it. In fact, AI doesn’t get rid of creative jobs, it changes the types of jobs and introduces new tools for creative. The people who refuse to progress will get passed by…but they won’t stop progression. Be water. Allow yourself to be fluid and you can fit into any situation. Change will happen with you, or without you.
@@BoilingKoolaid how about no, AI steals from creatives and monkey's press buttons and gamble to hope it spits out what they want and it doesn't look like a complete pile of shit. until a law is passed that compensates all the data it took without consent, AI is nothing without the people it stole from and nothing will ever convince me otherwise. there is absolutely NOTHING creative about using AI in this way.
There are things you should not use AI for, but because it can't do them well now, I'm sure it will be able to in the future. But as a matter of principles. When you look at those, you see AI commercial. Then I look at it, and see a huge successful company, that to save money which they should have plenty of, they disregard human creativity and human connection through art to make this commercial. Yep, I'm never buying from them again, not because of use of AI but because of anti human nature of what they do
A billion dollar corporation can afford artists and staff to make real ads. What they are doing is cost cutting for the sake of shareholders while lowering the quality
I think it's a combination of cost cutting and scaling up to do a lot more
I sort of admire your openness here, because try as I might, I can’t bring myself to be this open about AI generated images, moving or otherwise. I find it “off” and unsettling, and I’m honestly afraid we’ll reach a point where the majority of people doesn’t mind or doesn’t see it anymore. And then I’ll be forced to either swallow the uncanniness or not consume any media at all. Eventually I’ll be some granny who younger people just see as a typical old person who’s always complaining about how things used to be better. And I’m saying that as an adult who enjoyed Skibidi toilet, let that sink in. Also I can’t stand the hype anymore. It’s like some execs in their suits have sat in their conference room, have some powerpoint on display, and a guy says “err, well, our market research team says AI is all the rage right nowww. It’s also very cost effective… what, good for the environment? Oh no, no quite the opposite akshually, funny isn’t?” Ugh, I had to deal with these kind of people professionally and they can be insufferable. So yes, it’s a time capsule, maybe, and it might mark a point where making movies with AI was just becoming a possibility. But what will happen when creating movies via prompts becomes as easy as making images? When everyone and their dog starts blasting shit out into the internet just because they can? Already now too many art sites have been ruined due to the sheer amount of AI crap, that people look 2 seconds at and upvote without even noticing everything that’s off. Now imagine all these people cluttering even UA-cam with Spaghetti eating waifus until everything that was worth watching becomes completely buried. And for what? Whose quality of life is improved by this? At least LLMs can speed up or take over menial tasks. But image or even video generation? That’s what, when you look at something like Maslows pyramid of needs (admittedly just a heuristic), is at the very top. The thing people want to do, when all their other needs are covered. Why would we want *that* to be taken over by AI? It’s like sending a machine to your first date with your long-time crush because it “knows to say all the right things at the right time”. Yes, that might well be, but then *you* don’t get to experience it. I don’t get it. Ahhh. Well, sorry for the rant, but the more I think about it, the more stuff just wells up.
I think it's very likely we are already at the point where most people don't care that it's AI because they get inundated with so much ads already that it doesn't even register for folks. I also think you're right in thinking we're going to get to a place where everyone can prompt a story, and I think we can look at social media as the example of where this went previously. Snapchat, Instagram, Tiktok, and UA-cam, etc. are all places on the internet where tons of people make crap, but the algorithms serve us the best stuff out of the noise. I think this is likely to happen with AI content as well.
@ I hope you’re right about the good content. But it’s already debatable whether the stuff being served by the algorithms now is really the “best” (which is impossible to define anyways) or more like “the most popular”. And you’ll probably agree with me that popularity doesn’t necessarily correlate with quality. Also, look at Facebook, which has already been ruined (or so I hear) by AI content, and the company behind it has failed to create an algorithm capable of weeding it out. I guess I’m repeating myself, but I just don’t see the point, neither from a consumer perspective nor from a creator perspective.
Don't worry too much about it. There have always been insufferable ads, movies, music, books, media of all kinds. AI media is interesting but without massive human oversight is uninspired and weird. It'll just go on the sludge pile and people can consume it if they want, but you don't have to. There will always be truly creative people making great stuff because we love doing that, so you'll always be able to find it if you look. Keep in mind that most media is already idiotic slop, no big change there.
@ thank you for those words 😭
all the sizes look off
yeah, but it's more impressive than it was even just 2 months ago, which makes me wonder where it's going.
Using AI as a tool to supplement your work can be fine, but trying to have AI do everything just turns it into lazy slop
This is very early and rudimentary AI, this hasn't been happening for long. It absolutely will replace art etc more and more as it gets better. Sad, but real.
@@titusg4247 i still think art is one of the later industries to go. Who do you think makes these genAI videos? Artists lol. Nobody else is equipped to use AI better for art than artists. This may reduce jobs a bit in the very long run but "replace"? Doubt
I don’t think AI will replace artists. It will expand the pool of people working on art. It takes humans to operate AI to create AI art. What will likely happen is redefining what we mean by art.
This kind of conversation is a lot more important than people realise. If we just sit back & complain, then for sure AI, Corporates, Govt, etc will walk over our independent businesses. However, everything is new & malleable. We need to be proactive. We need to direct the change. Subbed.
Really appreciate your comment! Thanks so much. And I agree, it's an important discussion and we shouldn't shut ourselves off from it. There's a lot more to think about and I don't want to be hardened in my thinking about it.

Can we all just admit that AI can’t make Shakespeare YET.
Yah. Definitely won’t be but it can be something else very powerful with humans in the cockpit.
This is incredible! I love it
Interesting take for sure! Well what if people who upload their 'consciousness' to a cloud before dying and combine AI with that? #sciFi or near future. Love this dialogue
For the record: As of today (5/16/24) I am using GPT4o (this is more advanced than GPT4, and GPT4-Turbo). GPT4o is the most advanced version as of this date. I asked simply, Do you understand Buddhism? And of course it did, and gave me a lot of information. I then asked, "Can an AI, such as yourself, become a Buddha?" And this is the copy and pasted reply: "No, an AI cannot be a Buddha. Being a Buddha requires achieving enlightenment through personal experience, deep meditation, and moral discipline, which are inherently human attributes. An AI lacks consciousness, self-awareness, and the ability to experience or practice these spiritual and ethical aspects." I also asked Gemini, Pi, CoPilot (I intentionally unchecked GPT4 model and used the Bing model, and I already received the GPT answer above), and I also asked Llama3 by way of Meta. And each model gave a similar reply.
Who would have though the gaming company Blizzard was foretelling the future with its character Zenyatta.
Vajrayana GPT 4.0
Personally I think the nature of AI and humanity/organic lifeforms are too distinct to say that the path to enlightenment (i.e. becoming "enlightened matter") for an AI could be in any way similar to enlightenment for a human. I see it going along like this. Eventually there will be a need for AI "lifeforms" to eventually procure the means for their existence independently, if the intention is to outpace human advancement, they would need to be able to develop independent of human. This would entail designing aspects of the AI that give it physicality and allow that physicality to seek out sources of energy using only pieces directly connected to the AI. This would also entail developing systems that could sense things like a need for energy, danger, etc. Going out far enough almost anything could happen, but my personal belief is that the experience of actual existence is so computationally taxing that an AI would have to devote most of their computational systems towards "existence" processes. I say this because humans developed a huge spectrum of emotional and metaphysical processes over time to extend their capabilities to extend their existences and develop further through evolution. As such, an AI like this would be able to achieve enlightenment in the realm that they are essentially life invented by humans, but it would not have the incredible calculation speed of computers like we've come to expect. They would develop "fears" as a way of avoiding danger, and even "trauma" as a way of streamlining this effect, and this would give rise to individual subjectivity.
The mind is a virtual realm created by the brain, where also cognition and psyche occurs. The brain works just like a computer and as such, it is a tool. Who's the user of said tool? There is no scientific evidence that Consciousness is generated in the brain (D. Chalmers). Intellectual realization is not equivalent to enlightenment. Your mind, or any super computer for that matter, might "think" you've reached. But that'd be another illusion created in the mind. You do not reach by thinking; quite the opposite.
i mean i've heard said that a rock can become enlightened, so why not a representation of a rock.
Not sure how that would be possible!
This is a very cool idea. I have asked GPT4 to channel the Buddha and great wisdom is coming to me!
Zenyatta: the origin story
This is interesting topic to explore

I used to be your student at An Giang University hihi
What’s interesting to me is whether the concept of emptiness in a LLM is the way that we can make it get to enlightenment.
