I have a pair of SB-500X and I must say that they sound wonderful, I use a Technics SU-V3 and its sound is amazing, I compare them with some JBL N38ii, which I use as speaker B, I use the Technics as main and I enjoy them every day unfortunately the sound quality is not appreciated in this video, as when listening to them in situ

Hey Grant, I am having the opposite problem on mine. It drags across the record upon starting/stopping. It does not lift up before moving horizontally. Could this be fixed by replacing the grease or is this a different issue, spring related perhaps?

It's doing exactly what it's designed to do. When you open the lid you can see the record size switch is set to Auto, so no record means one turn of the platter and it shuts down. If you manually set a record size it should spin up. Hope you sorted it.

Nice sound. I also have 2 pairs of Technics SB-EX3 speakers, they sound very good but I think the sound can be improved if I add a subwoofer for the bass sound around 20Hz to 37Hz because these speakers can't reproduce all the audio spectrum for the music but they are very clear and high quality in the mids and highs.

Honeycomb flat diaphragm. . AFD . It sounded great. Not sure why manufacturers stopped making flat diaphragm woofers . This sounds better than today’s technics speakers

Love the setup you have. My brother has the SA-200 amp and I have his old SB-1950 speakers here. He bought the system new in 79 I think for $1100!! I also got his M6 tape deck and cabinet. He kept the amp and turntable which he still uses today. Also have a pair of SB-EX3 speakers on the wooden stands I picked up from a op shop recently for $40..................Soon as I saw them I had to have them! They work well but looks like a cat attacked the foam surrounds in the past.

Still have mine that were bought brand new in "84? Still able to shake the windows.
