Helpful and fair review! I also have it, as a crowdfund backer. I would say it was worth the money, even adding the... $150? of shipping onto the $300 crowdfunding price. However, I don't know if I would pay the current $945 price tag for it. I also experience the seating space front to back as pretty limited, and one of the arm wings has started to fail in less than 6 months of having it (ie: It is not staying locked in place). But my biggest complaint about it is its inability to tilt backwards as a whole. Yes, the backrest will tilt backwards, but the seat itself will not, and I've realized as I've been sitting in it, that's something that I enjoyed very much from my other office chairs. Still, the functionality of the chair in other ways is pretty cool, especially being able to stretch my legs out on one side while leaning back on the other wing is awesome, and being able to change positions when in the office for extended Zoom meetings is great, from the knees to sitting on the backrest with my feet on the seat, I would say being able to do all that outweighs the downsides of the chair. However, I would hope the company would listen to these critiques, and make the chair better in its future iterations.

Thank you for this, it was a long wait from supporting it on KIckstarter to getting it. Mine arrived just before Christmas 2023. Shipping, thanks to Canadian rates and exchange, cost me nearly $500 to Ottawa. Also, I know the base has to be large and strong due to the positions the chair permits, just realize it is NOT going to go through most door openings, certainly in home office configurations. I had an adjustable height desk, need to find another smaller version. Time will tell if it was money well spent. I think the quality is good, however.

I agree, thank you so much for doing the review, I came on here to find out how to recline this chair because I had the exact same issue with the back cutting into the seat space and me prefering having my feet up there with me. This is also my only concern, which I hope will not be a problem as long as I can recline. I didn't back the campaign, didn't know it existed. But a friend of mine did and when he got the chair I went on ebay Kleinanzeigen (German craigslist - but without the really creepy vibe) and low and behold - I got a brand new one for 450€, still fully packaged. Beyond happy about my comfy chair so far (I just put it together)

I don't understand how they're justifying 200$ shipping for a chair, when my solid metal standing desk that weighs over 200 lbs was under $100 to ship from CA to TN...

I am UK customer and got the base delivered 3 weeks after payment. Unfortunately they still haven't send out the top part and i am waiting the last 10 days that the provided tracking number will be updated. I really don't hope that they are scamming me :/ and just waiting for time to pass that i can't get my money back from the credit card company. I called up DHL about the delivery and they told me they haven't received the parcel yet....

Zero customer satisfaction on their end. Been waiting four months for the base of the chair. Zero stars.

Don’t waste your time or money with a company that sends damaged products, doesn’t take ownership, questions your ethics or integrity after our support and money for almost 3 years. I can not begin to express my disappointment with the entire experience. Here is how my purchase transpired with Be You Furniture November 12th, 2020. A Be You chair was purchased through Kick Starter for $349.00 USD. Backer Number 5774. December 15th 2020, a second Be You Chair was purchased as part of an early bird promotion for $309.00 USD Between December 20th 2020 and September 2023, Almost 3 years, Be You experienced a series of challenges. Covid, Manufacturing in India, Manufacturing in China, Design challenges, supplier issues, shipping issues and we stuck with them for the ride. September 7th 2023, we were finally able to book shipping of our 2 chairs for a very hefty $612.00 USD. September 28th 2023. UPS delivers the legs but no chairs. A claim was put in to both Be You and UPS. October 4th 2023, UPS delivers the chairs. October 17th 2023, one chair is in good working order, the other chair has large blemishes on the back of the chair that has been very poorly touched up. This is sent to Be You with photos. October 20th 2023 Be You responds that they are looking into it. November 1st 2023, I have not heard back from them and send a follow up email asking for updates. November 3rd 2023, they responded. “Sorry for the wait, it looks like you received your BeYou chairs on September 28 - 1ZWE5177DL22792477, 1ZWE5177DL28417899 and on 4th of October 1ZWE5177DL21716480, 1ZWE5177DL21609864 but only chose to reach out to us on October 18th. Considering this, there is nothing we can do because this was not reported when the chair was received. The esthetical aspect of the chair needs to be reported exactly when the chair is received.” I respond the same day asking for the situation to be escalated. At no time was I told that the chair had to be inspected the day it was delivered. November 10th, 2023, this is their responds. “We understand your situation but we have mentioned numerous times that the BeYou Chair will come in 2 separate boxes due to its size. Verifying that a package is ok upon delivery is common practice and as such we expected this to be brought to our attention much sooner. As we can not account for the happenings between the time the chair arrived and your notification about the esthetic issue we can not replace it. Our factory has a thought quality check process that would not allow such an issue to be present on a delivered chair.” The chair sat in the box until we were home. Three things stand out from this experience. First the hypocracy of us waiting almost 3 years and them saying that we took too long to unpack the box. 13 days to be exact. That we explained that we travel for work and did not have time to open both boxes and assemble yet they took almost 3 years from order to delivery. Somehow that is an acceptable timeline. That they take 5 to 7 days to respond to any communication and have zero tolerance for us not opening a box the day it rolls in. Second, that they send us a defective product with one gash measuring 5 + inches and the other blemish measuring 1 inch. Not a little mark on the back of a chair. Then they tell us that because we didn’t open one of the boxes for 13 days that they will not take responsibility for sending us damaged goods. I explained that we were travelling for work and were not home however they deem this as a non starter. So, if I opened the box the next day, how would that change things? Would they take the chair back? Lastly, that they are calling us liars. That the factory would not allow a product to go out in this shape. The back of the chair is clearly damaged and touched up. Yes, if your control processes worked then this none of this communication would be needed. The short answer is that Be Your Furniture does not stand by their product. Their service is an embarrassment. Vote with your hard-earned dollars. Don’t waste your time or money with a company that sends damaged products, doesn’t take ownership, questions your ethics or integrity after our support and money for almost 3 years. I can not begin to express my disappointment with the entire experience.

Got mine. This is a great and accurate review. TBH the big box is VERRRRY heavy. I could barely lift it on my own, and I'm strong. Not that that excuses the shipping cost, but it's the heaviest box I've ever ever had shipped to me. Just a head's up.

Pity they are shady shady scam artists trying to charge me $500AU shipping for my indiegogo pledge. Total scumbags.

They forced pre-order customers to pay 300%+ "MORE" for shipping and refused refunds to those who didn't want to pay the excessive amounts. We can purchase different chairs for less than BeYou Furniture is charging to ship their chairs, not even counting the money that we originally paid. Their website terms have been changed and they have not honored what they promised to thousands of customers.

Got my beyou chair after waiting 2 years & it doesn't work as promised. Backrest is broken and they aren't responding to my customer service issue.

I just assembled mine and heavily debated the exorbitant shipping fee but ultimately caved as i already had sunk cost of two chairs (i crowd funded at reward level of two chairs). I like many wish they wouldn't have made so many design changes to original prototype. Additional note, the wheel base is so big it does NOT fit through doorways without being removed so cannot move between rooms. I had to bring all pieces into my office to assemble. My back doesn’t go fully horizontal to be able to sit on or use as desk like it is supposed to, so i will be contacting beyou. Still waiting on second chair to arrive and hopefully it doesn’t have same problem. To get the tilt to work i had to the first time press down much harder than i was comfortable with, but after first tilt is now not needing same level of force/effort. Thank you for your review/video! Update: I did figure out the backrest move to horizontal requires the back to be in its fully tilted position, which does feel awkward but explains the massive base I guess for stability of having weight not even close to center of chair.

I'm so frustrated and overwhelmed by this stupid chair. I, like you, funded the chair for 350$ over two years ago reading every monthly update till the final release. Despite everyone getting their codes to pa for shipping, I didn't receive mine until about a week ago and when I tried using it... the check out, in my cart, said that I would be paying 1,200$ to purchase my black beYou chair and I live in California, the place it ships from! I was flabbergasted and obviously didn't purchase it. I read reviews just like yours saying they paid almost as much as they funded if not less for their shipping so how in the world did mine come out to over a grand?! I rechecked my code today hoping it was just a fluke accident and now, like so many others, there is no availability in ALL chairs and I'm stuck... 350$ down the drain, no chair, no stock, no working code, and overall frustrated and regretful for backing it in the first place. If I had been as lucky as you I wouldn't have much regret because like your wonderful review, I wanted this chair to experiment the positions I can sit in as I always sit like a gremlin, but here I am...

It is big- so mind your toes!!! You may stub them a few times until you get used to the wide wheel base lol

Just got my chair and agreed with your point until i saw you can actually adjust the back part, using the lever that raises/lowers the chair just push it down and then adjust the back

Follow up review: Now that I’ve had the chair for about a month, I am more and more satisfied with it bc I do wiggle around a lot in my chair and so far it has accommodated all of my fidgeting.

Hi! I have a question about the type of fabric this charge has. I have a cat and she is brutal on the furniture. I replaced my couch with shade like fabric and it is perfectly fine. Does it feel like the fabric is sturdy? Thank you.

i bought this thing thinking it would be more accommodating for sitting cross legged in chairs. its really ironic to see that it somehow makes it less easy to sit cross legged, while providing all sorts of other seating positions that are useless. i dont see any reason i should pay the ransom of $200 bucks to get my $350 chair. its the sunk cost fallacy. fool me once

Edit addition: Btw I was able to cross my legs in the chair quite comfortably: lean the back rest back, you have to sit side ways, with you back to one of the armrest and the other down.

Just put mine together, so disappointed. You're right, the seat is not deep at all. The reason I bought it was to be able to sit cross legged but the seat isn't deep enough to be able to do that with huge back.
