The sport of BMX racing and freestyle first hit the UK's shores in the late 1970s. Over the years, the sport has seen many highs and lows, but throughout that time has been kept alive through the hard work and dedication of many people - the riders, event organisers, officials, the BMX media, the BMX industry, and an army of volunteers - to the point that BMX in the UK is now experiencing a new golden era, as evidenced by Team GB's haul of 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
The purpose of this long overdue event is to remember and honour those people who pioneered the sport of BMX in the UK as well as those who continued to carry the torch for future generations to enjoy this amazing sport.

Brill podcast i use to race 13/15 cruiser in the 80s raced with dale & Darren o neil etc I loved them days I remember screaming at the TV channel 4 when geth beat the yanks I've always liked geth a humble man and both dale & geth are the dons back then dale any chance of interviewing big Trev Tim march ruffell mark white sid sailbury Jamie Vince Pete Middleton it be great to hear of all the old boys great pod cast 💯💯👍😬😬

What year was this ? And the presenters were great sports , due to insurance, I’m sure you wouldn’t see them doing that nowadays
Not 100% sure but I think 82 or early 83. Big Trev Robinson is running the gate on this clip and he's still not on Birmingham Wheels which he was for the 83 season.

Good question & maybe the one they used on Blue Peter with the Mongoose Team.
@@britishbmxhalloffame Really Enjoyed Riding at Outwell indoor.. It was Where My parents Purchased My Hotshot Racing kit. The Windles had a trailer inside the venue. It was At Outwell I first see Dx pedals I couldn't believe how massive they looked at the time. The outdoor track was fun Think it was ukbmx sanctioned at the time? Great memories ❤️

I won’t lie when Andy accepted this for his brother, I had a tear in my eye. We we’re sat at the front and the emotion from Andy was felt big time. RIP Neil Ruffell.
He was a real nice guy to meet on that night.
