@@larsvegas1505 I’ve rigged some more baits up with corkscrew jig heads and trebles but this venue is so weedy they aren’t fishable hence why I was using the weed less belly weighted hook. Later in the year it might be possible to fish them in the top 3 feet of water over the weed once it dies back.This lake is just left as a nature reserve so it’s choked with weed in the summer. And we aren’t allowed to use boats on any of the waters in my area. But yeah definitely a better hook up rate when not fishing weedless I agree but more like 50/50

@@Reguez01 yeah this was last week. When the water is below 10 degrees slow down your retrieve.

@ of course !! You can catch them on lures all winter just adapt your lure size, the depth and speed of retrieve.

@@PT-Gethooked proberly local as i live in plymouth the big whiting havent turned up yet this winter though :( was average size of 2ib + last few winters dont mind catching them when there all that size

@@timeluster it was stranded on the sand as the tide was going out so I saved it. They all play an important role in the eco system.

I've had them upto 69lbs but they are in there upto around 84lbs now I think. In the Cat N Carp 2 lake there is ne around 96lbs which Ive seen surface and tail splash - it was massive!

Looking at your videos the specimen lake looks to produce as much as cat and carp 2 does, surprising for a dedicated specimen water, I’m heading there this week much heavier equipped, I’m hoping for close to the success you’ve had, looking forward to your next cat vid 👍

@@PT-Gethooked cheers mate, I’ve learnt from that mistake, I’m going with 4.5lb cat rods, penn reels and 35lb mono for this one, never again will I attempt cats on carpet gear 🤣

@@ryanlotgd I find it easier to lug the gear to the lake on the Specimen lake. There’s a monster in Cat N Carp 2 though I’ve seen it tail splash.

@@PT-Gethooked yea thats understandable cat and carp was very boggy last time took 2 trips from the car with gear should of been one but wasnt risking it, think the biggest in cat and carp2 is 75ib ish unsure if my set up would land it if i hook it but id be down to try biggest so far is 35ib which actually took a strawberry pop up over a pva bag of pellets and crushed boilies unsure if it went for the bait or was after something attacking the bait around the hook 😅

They are the New Direction Tackle Spring Bite Indicator T10s Bobbins. They can be adjusted with a small Alan key for difference line thickness. I was using 40lbs mono. They work a treat. 👍🏻
