I’m curious if these passenger cars are former Santa Fe El Capitan high level cars and did this operation take over trackage that was once operated by the original Indiana transportation railroad museum?
You are correct on both accounts! These are former Santa Fe El Capitan high level cars! The Nickel Plate Express took over this line in 2018 when the Indiana Transportation Museum had to be evicted. They were able to save the tracks between Noblesville and Atlanta, but north to Tipton is abandoned and south to Indianapolis is now the Nickel Plate Trail.
@@Connor-Media I think the the nickel plate express for saving that track although I’m kind of saddened it wasn’t all saved I know one of the biggest losses was the section of street running track which is not far out of the original place of the Museum’s gates and fences
@TexasRailfan21-RailfanRyan It’s was sad to see that the street running track gone, but the track ends only feet away from the road. They sometimes take trains to that section just for the heck of it!
@@Connor-Media that’s so cool

It is certainly strange to see a GP9 pull cars that look like the Amtrak Superliners.
It is a really neat sight, but maybe a little strange! When Nickel Plate Road #426 pulls the trains, it’s really cool to see a locomotive that ran the line pulling Amtrak Superliner/Surfliner type cars.
What was wrong with 4214
On May 4th, 2024, NKPX #4214 was put into the wrong position while starting up before returning to Noblesville on this trip. A chain got stuck in that position and the locomotive was not able to move. NKPX #200 had to become the main power for the rest of the trips that day. The crew returned on May 5th, 2024 to do a deadhead engineer training day and they were able to nudge the chain back into place. The locomotive was in operation the next weekend as you will see in the “Nickel Plate Through The Heartland” program. Edit: The crew was very professional and they made sure the trip went smoothly with the shove move.
@@Connor-Media I Was Surprised To See The 200 On The Lead End, Normally It Would Be Nickel Plate Road 426.
NKP #426 was out of service and having some maintenance done and will return to run trains around Father’s Day Weekend 2024.
Devine Wye is the former Clair Wye to the now deactivated Clair Generating Station. INRD used to run coal up from Senate Avenue yards to Clair for electricity production at the old plant. I took 35mm pics of the last movement back in the late 1990's.
To my knowledge, and I could be wrong, but the Devin Wye has always been called the Devin Wye. When Norfolk Southern ran the line through Cicero they did use that Wye for the power plant (now a Duke Energy). After, the Indiana Transportation Museum (ITM) took over the line some coal trains still went to the plant using the Wye; the ITM also used the Wye to flip their locomotives and cars around. Now, the Nickel Plate Express is hoping to get the Wye back in service for their trains. I don’t believe that the Indiana Rail Road ever came up to Noblesville or Cicero; however, the INRD did have a Wye at the AES - Harding Street Station. That Wye has long been torn up, but you can still see it’s outline on Google Maps. It is really cool that you have 35mm pictures of the last movements on that Wye!
Awesome Video
how much traffic does the crawfordsville sub get?
I’m not quite sure these days; I’m not around that subdivision as much anymore. There used to be about at least 6-8 trains a day, including Amtrak. Hope this helps a little.

This was back when the General Signals Type 2 Electronic Bell was still dead between July 1st and August 6th of 2023, the dead bell has since been revived and it’s now alive working like new again.
I was born in So.Bend in 1949. By the time I became interested in trains in 1956-7 all passenger trains were pulled by Diesel's. Grand Trunk ran Steam freight until, I believe, early '58. So,I was able to see live steam, first hand. By then maybe 20% steam so I was so happy when I could see smoke coming our way while parked at the crossing. My dad pointed out a couple of 1930's Pierre Marquette boxcars. My paternal grandfather helped lay the first GT tracks in So.Bend around 1908. New York Central also had tracks into S.B. and also the South Shore Railroad.
765 and the big boy will be busy for the FIFA world cup which is coming up soon
You know, it makes me happy to see steam thriving in the present day. Even though there aren’t many left as they used to, people’s love for steam locomotives gives these beautiful machines an opportunity to have their own share in the big world of today’s railroad. Edit: 11:04 What a breathtaking view of 110 with the sun behind her.
Great catches and nice video
765, without white walls, is the best 765 out there, I will not hear otherwise, blacked out driving wheels ftw Amazing catches!
110's bell sounds a bit like 765's bell.
I don't hear a resemblance
765 should reunite with both 1225 and 611.
Would love to see it!🚂❤️
Awesome video! I just chased 110 over Father's Day weekend and it was awesome! My video is up now!
Thanks!
@@Connor-Media You're welcome!

Love that Mars lite!
Awesome catches and great long video
The theme song had my toe tapping. I grew up in the Chicago area, so Indiana is not unfamiliar to me. 7:03 - Nice to see a young lady (in short shorts) enjoying a bit of railfanning. 10:30 - Some people think the roar of a motorcycle is cool, but in this case it sounded like someone had the all-you-can-eat baked beans special. Once again, I realize that I've been too busy watching train videos to notice that I haven't been to the sites where you have to checks the "I'm over 18" box.
Saw her once when she overnighted at Logansport.
Interesting to see the wheels blacked out, though I like the white tires a bit more
she looks like when she was in 1984-1993 and 759 in her excursion career
I want to personally restore 759!
Looks so great with the wheels blacked out
I would definitely agree! Though the white tires do add a little flare!
Beautiful 👏

Keep up the great work!
What a wonderful adventure and video. I enjoyed watching it while I was working on packing for college. I would love to see more!
More on the way my friend! Paris is already out! The Cotswolds & London are out today and Friday!
First!
I’ve been along this sub recently and there has been an abundance of foreign power. Most recently they keep running the same latch up of Kansas City Southern and UP. UP seems to be common on CSX rails but seeing a KCS is pretty neat. Recommend checking it out again sometime soon it’s pretty neat.
Thank you for the information! I will be on the lookout for these trains along this sub again soon!
