One of my friends comrades went down there to help with the peasant movement, which had nothing to do with joining the guerrillas, and the government shot him 5 times. Paralyzing him. The government does something called red tagging down there. If you are an activist or they don’t like you they call you a communist and shoot you. I would suggest people check out Jose Maria Sison’s writings if you want to know what their ideology is like. JMS is very intelligent. He was imprisoned for around a couple decades and wrote extensively while he was there. He was a educator before he became a revolutionary and speaks multiple languages. His writings aren’t the work of an ideological fanatic. They are the work of someone who is very intelligent with a genuine commitment to fighting with the oppressed. And it was said that they were supported by the Khamer rouge but he definitely was not a fan in the writings I read from him. He also was no fan of the “Gonzoloites” of the shining path. But I can see why people would claim they were uncritical fanatics of both to do the normal scare tactics of “insane bloodthirsty commies.” Not saying that is how this video presented them I actually thought this was relatively good. The guerillas are extremely progressive and support LGBT rights including holding marriage ceremonies for LGBT, they do literacy campaigns, they give provide healthcare with traveling drs, they help build shelters, they do extensive work to protect the environment, do food drives, do many education programs. I can understand why people don’t understand these movements but you need to understand how a population that has been oppressed by outside oppressors and puppet governments for generations upon generations would feel about a group of people who came by and actually helped them while saying they want to help them liberate themselves from this terror. I think that we should actually try to let people choose their own destinies and stop trying to install governments in these countries and assume whatever government is most friendly with the US and friendliest to corporations is what’s best for the people. Everyone should have the right to self determination. And that includes letting people try to build a more equal and just society. Even if that includes violently freeing themselves from their masters.

As a result, the Chilean Army inherited the Prussian model directly from the source. Chile is in fact the custodian of the Prussian military traditions, and proudly so.
