BO2 was the reason I stopped playing COD. Shit zombies, sweaty MP, stupid campaign, and to top it off I worked the whole summer before it came out at the age of 15 to buy the hardened edition, only for Nuketown zombies to be absolutely ass.

This company meant so much to the community it created that even to this day people still respect the old games. No one plays it except me doing high rounds on custom maps. There were few video games that got me interested in history as much as Call of Duty WaW and Black Ops. Maybe Assassin’s Creed but not many more.

WAW did NOT play it safe at all, and if anything they brought a new way of portraying WW2, no other Call of duty touched on the Pacific Front, and no other game in any other franchise showed the ugly nature of war. All of them only showed the superficial bleak heroic aspect of war. If anything COD4 played it safe as well as previous games. COD4 did not show the horrors of war, except for a few instances, it uses war as a backdrop. These stupid reviewers get thirst traps from Modern warfare games because they're biased and are close minded fedoras. Blood spilling environment and decals, Gore, Dismemberment, executions. This is the OPPOSITE of playing it safe. It got banned in a couple of countries as mentioned in this video. Treyarch WENT ALL OUT with the portrayal of WW2, they did not hold back. WAW clearly did not play it safe, they probably are a bunch of sheep court hearing other reviews and making a terrible verdict based on that. Also the setting is far from "ReDuNDant" we dont get to see the inside of the Reichstag, neither did we ever see Pacific Islands before. It was far from redundant, WW2 was not portrayed accurately and authentically enough like WAW did, neither did we see the method of warfare that the Japanese used as shown in WAW. These reviewers are legally retarded because obviously that statement about the game being stuck in the past is stacked with BULLSHIT. WAW felt new, it was a major leap in WW2 FPS and gaming well in the PS3, 360, PC era of the 2000s. WAW showed what a Trench Gun can do to someone's head by COD4 didnt. The setting is more open and less linear, so its far from being recycled or reused, WAW is unique

Modern warfare 2019 was also a little gritty but not to the extent of this game. But in mw 2019 they had the london attack with the hostage strapped with a bomb and Price just throws him off of a balcony. And that game had suicide bombers that ran at you and blew up if you did not shoot them fast enough

Black ops 1 Vietnam missions had a similarly horrifying vibe like this game. The way they just jump at you in the rat tunnel and the way the screamed from blowing their limbs of with the python revolver. They even did the snipers in the tree and popping out of spider holes like the Japanese in waw

I remember buying this game at Hastings when visiting my father during Thanksgiving 2008. The moment I turned on my Xbox 360 and popped in the disc, I was blown away by the menu alone. I had finished the campaign in just two days and was met with surprise at the end with the reveal of Nazi Zombies, making me stay up for another couple of hours. Such simpler times I wish I could return to. Even if it’s just to see my grandparents again and to feel like a teenager.

I remember liking the game but hating shg for the shit maps. I mean they weren't tge worst but they aren't really memorable. Hardhat and Dome still stand out to this day. Other than that, not much. The gunplay was more polished and it felt like you had much more variety. Ks selection was better and specialist was interesting Overall a more polished version of MW2 with worse maps
