How to make Sorrel Cake - Full Recipe | Jamaican Rum Cake | Hibiscus Cake
Hi everyone, I hope life has been lovely since the last video! Enjoy a special treat this season with this Sorrel Cake recipe.
Fruit Blend Recipe
You may allow your fruits to sit in your refrigerator overnight up to 1 year before baking into your cake. I allowed mine to soak for 3 weeks this time.
Sorrel syrup:
2 cups water
1 cup dried sorrel
2 cinnamon sticks
1 tbs grated ginger
1 tsp orange zest
2 cloves
1 bay leaf
1 cup brown sugar
Fruit blend:
1/2 cup rasins
1/2 cup currants
1/2 cup prunes
1 cup glazed cherries
3 oz white rum, Wray & Nephew brand preferably
8 oz red fruit wine, Red Label wine preferably

Cake mixture:
2 cups butter (4 sticks)
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 tbs orange zest
2 tbs lime juice
8 eggs
2 1/2 all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbs ground nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tbs pure vanilla extract
2 cups fruit blend
1 cup sorrel syrup
1-3 tsp food coloring (optional)
You may bake this recipe in a 10” x 3” round baking pan, 9” bundt pan, cupcakes, mini bundts, anything is possible with this flexible batter!
Bake at 325 degrees for 1-1 1/2 hours.

Nice attempt but of course we have to give positive critical feedback number one we don't mix our ketchup and soy sauce in a cup we added directly in the pot we don't measure Jamaican cooking does not measure ingredients you just know how to cook Jamaican food. Secondly after it was pressured for the 25 minutes when you added the additional season and the butter beans you should have kept it on sauteed instead of pressure to render down the additional seasoning and the butter beans and also thicken the gravy The gravy is too watery That's not Jamaican cooking but nice attempt better luck next time
