Mountain biking mostly; hiking and wild camping when I can. Less sugar more wilderness.

Tsitsikamma Hiking Trail | Garden Route
Hey mate, i did a little rekki of the area on foot earlier today. I came across pot noodle just by chance, that isn't too far up from the long chalk path that leads you up. How far up the large common are the trails in this video though? When I reached the to where it opens up into the large green common there were so many off shoots I had no idea where to start.
If you start at the very top of the big open green common (as it opens up from the bridleway), brown trousers is the second entrance on your left.
Hey mate. Where are you getting all the names for these trails? Can't see them on Trailforks. Thanks.
Hi 🤙🏼 if not on Trailforks, it’ll be on Strava segments.
@@bradsorour4884 brilliant. Premium subscription only?
Which I have here in Allentown Pennsylvania
This is almost like the trexler nature preserve
Is there a good place to cross the A24, say you rode the box stuff then went over to Alfred P, how would you avoid riding on the a24? Cheers.
Yep, I simply use the pedestrian underpass on the A24. This route goes Headley Lane > Old London Rd (B2209) > A24 pedestrian underpass > Westhumble Street. Hope that helps 🤙🏼
@@bradsorour4884 ah, amazing thanks. I rode past the underpass this evening and didn't even think! Thanks v much.
@@bradsorour4884 trying to figure out where Brown Trousers starts...any chance of a pin?
I really enjoy trail names 🤣
some good names on that area for sure. pink eye, pot noodle, Sprout bag 😂
Looks like you’ve found a decent loop. Are you using another app other than trail forks? Navigating myself around up there is just never easy. I’ve followed a few mates, but never remember the routes
@@just_another_user it’s a bit like a rabbit warren out there for sure. I’ve just used trail forks until things get familiar
I want a pot noodle now😂 happy riding ✌️
@@hotsause123 some of these trail names are ridiculous 😁
I have been in Les Trois Vallees, Alpe D`Huez, Le Grand Massif,Le Grand Domaine , Valfrejus, les Sybelles, Arlberg and Zillertal, Next year i will be in la Plagne ! It looks great !
Going back here in January for first time since 1984.
When was this filmed? Im going next week but at 8:02 it looks very busy. Overall love the video!
Thanks 🙏🏻 This was filmed last year 13-17 Feb 2023. It was during school holidays so it did get quite busy (especially towards the end of the day)
Ehhhhm - you took the cable car from Stechelberg to Schilthorn....
It's always great. Your video is excellent quality. We liked and enjoyed to the end. Thanks
🙏🏻 thank you!

Great video. We started skiing in La Plagne when our children were young; we've been other places but always drawn back to Belle Plagne. This year we will introduce a 7-year old grandson to our favourite slopes - am sure he'll soon outski granny, but it will be such a joy.
🙏🏻 Thanks so much. We would definitely like to stay at Belle Plagne next time around, it looks lovely. Agreed, La Plagne is just great, it’s ideal for all levels and abilities. Definitely one of the best resorts. Have fun!
Watching this makes me wish I was in Switzerland right now.🥲
This is beautiful. Thanks for sharing this amazing scenery with us.
🙏🏻 Thanks, yep Switzerland is something special, truly breathtaking 🙂
Did you go on your own? If so how was it?
Yep, a solo mission this time around. Was tentative on the first couple of runs (would’ve been better with mates) but got the feel of it after a while. I’d say it’s a step up from Bike Park Wales (if you’ve done that before) in terms of speed and natural tech.
Nice vid. Looks like some amazing runs. I'm off to plagne 1800 with 4 mates in March. Cant wait as it will be first ski holiday not with kids and family. Was apres good too?
Thanks 🙏🏻 yep, the après-ski was good. We had kids in tow for the most part but managed to sneak in a few sessions at the end of the day. Enjoy it, looks like it’s been a good start to the season.
Bar La Mine in 1800 great place with live music most nights their own brew ale is very refreshing
@@raymondsmith4316sounds like one to definitely check out next time around, thanks for the recommendation
Thanks for uploading this vid. I'm off to Plagne 1800 with the family this coming winter (half term). My boys are 7 and 10 and this will be only their 2nd winter hol (last Feb they did 4 days of skiing in Kaprun/Zell am See as a trial to see if they liked it, and they loved it). Your video makes me think we made the right choice in La Plagne, based on quantity of nice, easy going runs that I could see. We've had a good start to the season weather wise, so hopefully that continues throughout December and Jan. Where are you heading to this winter season?
Cheers 🙂 La Plagne is really great for intermediates and novices (for all levels actually) and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The girls’ favourite by far was the blue run called “Lainés”; nice and wide and perfect for intermediates. We’ve got a couple of days booked in Champery next year (also half term) but definitely can’t wait to get back to La Plagne.
it so amazing )
fair play to you, i ride redlands and know that a lot of those technical bits are more sketchy in real life, skills to pay the bills.
thank you!
Do you know where I would park and how to find these trails look insane good riding aswell bro👌
Nice footage man, Yoghurt Pots probably my favourite trail at Peaslake.
Thnx 🙏🏻 yep love YP too, nice and flowy!
‘Brown Trousers’ - so called because there were a pair of brown trousers stuck in the trees when they built it.
Hehe, that’s great, thanks for that!
Wonderful...God is so Great and Majestic
Thnx 🙏🏻
Great vidio
Thnx 🙏🏻
Thanks Trenac, yep it’s great out there, you’ll enjoy it!
Nice video mate. Been wanting to go to peaslake for a while. Gonna go next bank holz
amazing
What a great video!! Great background music BTTW. I am doing this trail from 8 May 2023..Wish me luck!
Thanks Yaaseen. Brilliant, you’ll really enjoy it - it’s my favourite hike in SA. Good luck!
Nice, 7:10 that's where we stayed last year :)
Epic location
I went to Belle Plagne in Jan for my first ski holiday, loved it that much I'm going back end of April. Only ever skied in the Snowdome in Tamworth up until then, perfect snow and breathtaking views.
Belle Plagne looks very nice, would definitely look to stay there next time. We can’t wait to go back either, skiing holidays are just the best!
Great trail and nice Video, like to follow your route so could you please give more details if I would love to follow this hike eg. how long does it take? How to book a camp site , is it too difficult for a beginner hike? Etc thank you
Thanks for the video - walked the route Sept 22 (hotels and luggage transfers so not as much a challenge). As I only live 6 mile from St Bees, thinking of walking in reverse next year and walking my way back home.
Love Language
Hi Brad - nice job on the filming. you did better with your iPhone than many of the other youtubers have done with camera equipment. Well done. It looks like you wild camped the entire way. Did you have any issues finding a suitable camping spot?
Thanks Richard, appreciate the kind comments. I reckon it was 80% camping and 20% accommodation (was forced to stay in a hotel one night because of a rolled ankle). 3 of the nights were at proper campsites where I was lured in because of the hot showers. No, it wasn’t really an issue finding a suitable wild camping spot; sometimes I’d need to walk just a little further in order to find a suitable pitch. Looking back, I would’ve made more of an effort to have wild camped for the most part :) All the best
Great trail and views
Thanks Andrey, yes it’s an amazing trail.
@@bradsorour4884 i plan doing it this September, going from Meiringen to Kandersteg. I doubt if i can do it because of the length and elevation.
Very good.
Awesome video..going to give it a go 🚶♂️

Thanks Alan, hope you guys are keeping well down under mate!
Great video Brad and it brings back lots of happy memories from my C2C in 1980, 10 day solo hike with my 35kg pack, good job I left the kitchen sink at home, but wish I had taken some camera gear with me. Now all I have are memories of 40 yrs ago and videos like your. (Y)
Hi Anthony, thanks for the kind words. C2C in 10 days is an amazing achievement; and there’s definitely something special (and challenging) about doing it solo! It’s great to have a platform like this to be able to share the experience with folks like yourself. All the best.
Hey Brad, really loved your film of the C2C. It's one of the best I've seen & I've watched loads of them in preparation for my own adventure!! So refreshing to just have music with no chat & let the scenery & trail speak for itself. Lots of nice tent shots too! 😍😁 What did you film it with?
Hey Sarah, I’m glad you liked it; and thanks for the kind comments! I shot everything on my iPhone 8 (1080p, 30fps) and used a tiny (gorillapod-type) tripod to help get some of the shots. All the best in preparation for your adventures! Cheers, Brad
Is there a tour guide?
Hey Blessing Breakthrough! We didn't research it when we did the hike. I'm sure there must be one available...
Anyone thinking of visiting this place?I wonder if there are any restrictions now these times of covid19, I am planning to go to South Africa in March and just hike around Tsitsikamma, it looks nice
8:49 that river locaation absolutely stunning id have wanted to camp there somehow. lovely video
Yep, really pretty. Thanks for the kind words Martin.
That's all rather good, thankyou.
Any issues with cattle?
Hey True North, no real issues... just plenty of them along the Yorkshire Dales section. A bit unnerving if you're not used to them, especially some of the bigger bulls.
Loved this video and the Tsitsikamma one too! Do you have any good websites or links for getting info about them such as stages etc? I couldn't find much online.
Thanks for the kind words! SanParks website is good for the Otter Trail. I had a similar issue when researching for Tsitsikamma at the time - no real definitive guide other than hiker blogs and vlogs. With the Otter Trail it’s fairly easygoing in that you finish each day around midday because of the distance. Info on this trail also seems to be more readily available compared to Tsitsikamma as it’s more popular. I would also recommend you check out the Hiking South Africa website here www.hikingsouthafrica.co.za/tsitsikamma-trail/
I really enjoyed this Brad. You definitely took the viewer with you on the walk. The C2C walk is definitely on my to do list. I recently walked the Cleveland Way and met a few C2C walkers on the way. They all had great things to say about it. Not sure about the cows though. They seem to sense my fear of them and won’t move out of the way for me😆
Hi Anthony, thanks for the kind words. The Cleveland Way is really beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed walking a small portion of it during that stretch of the C2C. Yes, the cows along the Yorkshire Dales are plentiful (and some are better behaved than others)!
looked an awesome hike Brad its on my to do list : ) atb daz
Nice one daz. Do it, it’s awesome!
