Hi, I'm VCQ. Welcome!
I've made this channel to just put myself out a bit more to the world really, and hopefully to grow and learn a bit more about myself in the process. Initially, I'll be playing a lot of games and looking at various strategies, discussing gameplay and trying some self-set challenges among other things.
Eventually, the aim (time permitting) is to chat or learn or discuss a bit about everything really: sports, plants, science, philosophy, the list goes on......
Any Q's or Queries, slap me an email.

Age of Empires: Definitive Edition: Glory of Greece: Hardest: 5) Colonization of Ionia
Colonization of Ionia is a tough mission where you have to fight both Aegean pirates (Yellow) and Luwians (Red) to destroy the 3 Luwian Government centers.
Both enemies will frequently drop off units at your shores and pester you endlessly with ships so a strong navy and defence is a must, or you run the risk of being routed. Which is kinda cool, cause the previous missions were lacking in difficulty where you could lose.
War galleys are a must and several of them need to be built to intercept transport ships, while a few should scout the surrounding area for location of enemies and for finding resources. Start heavy on gathering wood, as those scout ships are important for your defense. Spare wood can go into fishing ships as there isn't much food on the island and there isn't much free land for farming either. Athens (Brown) is your ally, though they will literally do nothing. Use their dock to trade resources for gold.
You should build walls and sentry towers on island and train at least a few axemen, until your navy can safely intercept enemy transports. Once you feel set-up, there are two little bases of Aegean pirates that are guarding much needed gold and stone. Use your navy and army to destroy these small bases to secure the gold you need.
Additional scouting will reveal both the Aegean Pirates and the Luwians on one land mass. It's best to invade the Aegean Pirates first and simplify the situation while using their leftover resources to bolster your own army. With a few hoplites and a stone thrower, they shouldn't be a challenge.
The Luwians will have several towers and some enemy units around, so several hoplites and a few stone throwers should do the trick.
Destroying all three government centers will grant you to victory.

Age of Empires: Definitive Edition: Glory of Greece: Hardest: 4) The Trojan War
Переглядів 1299 годин тому
The Trojan War is a step up in difficulty from the previous scenarios. In this scenario, Agamemnon has ordered you to attack Troy, to retrieve the artifact (potentially Helen of Troy), and kill both Paris and Hector to win. The starting tips are accurate: one will need a strong navy to prevent landings by Troy (red) and to be able to reach small islands that contain a lot of the gold and stone ...
Age of Empires: Definitive Edition: Glory of Greece: Hardest: 3) The Conquest of Crete

The Conquest of Crete is one of those typical scenarios where you flee for your life and run back home to gather your mates and then return to crush the enemy. You begin ambushed by the Minoans (yellow) with your composite archers under fire and you will lose all of them. You have four cavalry units to the east of them which you must use to get to the southern corner of the map to find your all...

The second scenario of the Glory of Greece campaign is Acropolis, where the Tiryns hold some ruins atop of an acropolis that you are tasked at getting back and building two sentry towers around to display your dominance. The nice thing about this scenario, is that you can progress along the main route on land or try to be sneaky and go down the river to drop off a landing party and invade from ...

In the first scenario of the Glory to Greece campaign, you are tasked to build 5 farms and destroy all the Pelasgian (Red) farms. Obviously building your own farms will be easy but destroying the farms of your enemies will be a lot harder. It's best to plonk down your town center quickly and age up. With some quick scouting, you'll find yourself close to Yellow, who you should eliminate quickly...

I go through some other game rules and game settings that I previously haven't done. Apologies towards the end, I got a bit jumbled with words as I was searching for the words: "game rules, game modes and game settings" and had a blank trying to words myself back together again. Moving onto the different game rules: A death match gives 20k of each resource relevant to the age you start in. An e...
Rise of Nations: Game mode: Diplomacy and Survival of the fittest

I wanted to do a diplomacy video, but after the AIs were asking for an absurd amount of metal, I realised that I was never going to make an alliance or at least peace and got railed hard. Being the Lakota didn't help either. So, I was determined to beat them as the French and had a better go of it the second time around, but the AI still won by wonder victory, and I still couldn't afford an all...

Survival of the fittest is a free-for-all game mode where it's everyone for themselves! No alliances are allowed so getting ganged up on is definitely a possibility. There are many ways to win: Either: 1) Control 70% of the world's territory until the timer runs out 2) Build enough wonders to get enough wonder points (could be 8, or it could be 24) and then keep them from getting destroyed unti...

The way the game mode works: Each player is given another player to assassinate and also the name of the player who will try to assassinate you. An excellent game mode for those that like to be ganged up on. I take on 4 other toughest AIs and try to hold out for 30 minutes. Barbarians try to gain up on a nation that needs to hold out for a specific amount of time to win. The nice part about this is how...

More skill tests! Whack the general is fairly straight forward, although I feel it's less about speed of mouse clicking and more about accuracy. Hotkeys handling tests your knowledge of hotkeys, which is a great way to become a stronger player, as you don't need to shift your focus away from your current task and you can generally get tasks done quicker with hotkeys than with a mouse. Aging madness 3 is on a whole new other level, and I had...

Alright ladies and gentlemen, I believe this is the last scenario in the Entire World Campaign that is unique and to be honest, I wouldn't count it as a scenario. Basically, keep your units alive for 5 minutes to win the game. Easiest way to do that is run to the east or west corners and do nothing for 5 minutes. That's it, that's the scenario. Nothing to do and no tactics or strategy, so it's ...

Sudden death is a tough and tricky mission regardless of skill level. In 90 minutes, capture a city off of each of the three allied tribes in the region to secure your victory. Capturing a city of that tribe eliminates them from the scenario, while the tribes have to capture your capital to win. This is tricky because if you decide to take a long siege on one of cities, you'll probably succeed,...

Feels almost too balanced in some respects. I wonder what would happen if the developers gave more strengths to unique units.
افضل لعبة استراتيجية في العالم . كنت اتمنى ان تصدر النسخة الثانية من اللعبة . نهضة الأمم 2 لكن للأسف وقع الغاؤها منذ عدة سنوات
Yeah, it's a bit surprising a second Rise of Nations was never released. Guess we will have to dream and wonder what could have been....
Why do you keep building near the major building with so much nukes drooping at it? Put them further away and spare resources... or is there another purpose?
At that point, I wasn't thinking more about how to get my economy on track and less about the best building placement in event of another nuke being dropped. Building on the edge of the economic zone is the right idea, as the nuke are less strong, but I had placed my cities too close together, which i didn't account for.
You spent way too much time booming, way too long to build a fort and too little scouting.
Yup, don't deny it!
Maybe you should try to rush at least one of the ai? Cause that’s pretty much impossible when you let toughest ais to develop.
I feel if i do that, then I leave myself defenceless against another AI, with my economy down the drain. But you're right, it's a valid option!
That was a strong AI... he fought till the bitter End🫡🫡🫡
On toughest, they don't give up!
Strange mission haha
Such a bad scenario. If they ever remade it, it'd be cool to see this re-worked into something more challenging
It’s sad that this is the latest video on rise of nations…
Be the change you want to see in the world!

maybe you will try some mulitplayer mate? or you pref single?
Probably single games but might have a gander at some multiplayer stuff.
Bro why do i get attcked periodically by wolves in AOE4 multiplayer
That was an amazing battle. I would have given up already, for sure. Kudos to you for fighting until the end and actually winning it! Also after being nuked its probably not the best idea to build everything again so close tho the town itself. I usually build around the perimeter in modern age, because AI gonna nuke just town not production.
Cheers for the kind words! I'm a bit stubborn, so if I think I can still win I'll keep going. That's definitely correct! Although, in most of those maps, I'm on the defensive and so have limited room so everything is bunched up together. If I had more room, I'd definitely do that. And also if I wasn't under pressure!
I think your army composition could be better. Why do you build so many archers when enemy almost doesn't use heavy infantry? I almost never build archers in army. Espetially in gunpowder age. Its a lot better to spend wealth on knights. Also you should use more infinite queue for unit production. I usually make 2 regular infantry + 1 heavy and press infinite. Also for cavalry I use 2 heavy cavalry and 1 ranged cavalry and also press infinite queue. And I use my patrion as a rally point so all units always go where he is. Thats pretty convenient. It has its drawbacks but in general it helps to replanish army in battle regulary.
It depends. Archers help add to a fort or towers' garrison power. Since they never usually see the front lines, you end up with more of them after a battle and with any sort of tank, they're getting off lots of volleys. I probably built too many in that scenario, but their range also helps me to snipe out certain units in the battlefield and producing them helps give other resources a bit of time to replenish and doesn't strain the economy as much over a long time. Plus, sometimes you just need units on the field! But good points!
gg mate
Cheers!
gg nice to see my favorite rts ;)
Glad I could showcase it in some small way!
I just recently started playing and I’m shocked by your speed of play
Haha, thanks! I think I could be even faster if i bothered to learn all the hotkeys, but I've played RoN for a few years now, so I know the game intimately and on toughest, the AI doesn't give you any rest, so you have to be quick!
The battles are getting pretty intense
They were intense! I couldn't give the AI any time to get on top as they would be merciless if I gave them a chance.
I always love Hideaway since it forces you to be fast and aggressive (I play medium difficulty). Great video as always!
Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, it's a good change of pace from other scenarios! I wouldn't mind having to grab more territory on harder difficulties though. It's also interesting that in the early ages, the strategy is simple. But in the later ages, you can use copters, or tanks, or towers and win with a bunch of different methods.
Nice video mate
Cheers mate! Glad you enjoyed it!
How to download this game? Memorable 🥰🥰
If you have a computer with Steam installed you can purchase the game!
Why not let the first city complete building, then take it over immediately and extend your reach?
That's a good point, I think in the moment I was concerned I wasn't going to be able to hold it or that it was more disruptive to just straight out deny it being completed.
How about attacking Bantu? Maybe the Greeks get the Germans during that time.
Wasn't keen on attacking the Bantu as it kinda locks yourself into Africa. With Europe there's more possibilities to be flexible, or at least more chances to knock out other civilisations.
Awesome, looking forward to watching this series.
Sweet! Hope you enjoy it!
I know that the one who is watching the always sees more than the gamer. To win this battle ist so hard because you need the set up a bridgehead in the african side and hold it long enough to have the good economy going and having 3 baracks and 3 stables and a siegefactory there. Then to let out the soldiers quick enough to overrun them.
Yes, once you land on their territory and can grab some territory, the land battle is much easier.
2vs2 seem to be very tricky. I know this map very well. It's important to have more than one harbour because the keep sending ships. Protection of your friend with towers ist also an option.
I was also prepared to spam cannons in case towers weren't going to the job.
A very close to fail battle.. just 15 min left when you captured it. Very suspending. Master Hitchcock would be proud of you.
You should see some other scenarios where the timer gets below 5 minutes! XD
Why you like to destroy the colossus? Gives you more Population in future battles and increases your woodproduction. Or do you not allow yourself to have any wonders. You are like the monk in "the name of the rose" who Hits himself. Lol
I think I addressed that in the description but it's definitely worth mentioning again. After my first few failures, I managed to defend long enough to produce a military. But then I was outnumbered and that's due to the colossus. One of the benefits the Colossus brings is an extra 50 population. Now I don't know about you, but taking on an extra 50 population is tough, so to level the playing field I had to raze it down. The extra challenge is nice but I would have liked to have kept it for future battles! I am no monk but thanks for the compliment. Ha!
OK, i see now that you do that
I watch that Scene after min. 50. You can used bomberships to destroy the Fortress in the way to his capital
You won that battle great. But you forgot to move the other army towards the Americans. After beating the Irquois you can have the Americans surrounded with 3 armies. The nationstrengt of the american card is very useful.
Yeah, three armies would have been helpful. The American card is indeed strong, but I'm playing this challenge run with no tribute and no cards allowed.
@@vcq8856wow, that makes it extra hard. I hope you sucseed in the end with having the whole world. Does it mean the enemy can't use cards either? You can't build a wonder with your card?
In the Capital some fields don't have workers you missed a lot of food there.
Yeah, something I need to work in the late game.
The town you captured first turn into a militarybase with at least 2 baracks 2 stables and one siegefactory. The fortress you build later. Your atempts to build a fortress there where at least 3 times destroyed.
Your soldiers fight better with the Senator on their side. Why you wait so long to let him out? Tradelimit will also increase 50.
He is definitely helpful, but I think I was more concerned about economy and military at that point. Need to get cities and their buildings up, so the senate isn't a huge priority at that point.
@@vcq8856but he heales the troups
@@danielwickli1564 He does but I can do that with a garrison and early in the scenario it's not a strong priority.
You have 33 miners, the tradelimit is 600, you can't get more metal with so many miners.18 will do as well for the gold.
You still generate resources even going over the limit, just not as much if i understand it correctly. That's been helpful in difficult scenarios like this one as I need the excess to trade at the market when I'm running low on a particular resource. But i definitely could macro manage the economy better at that stage in the game.
@@vcq8856I'm in a vacation in Greece at the moment, but when i get Home i will definitaly try a hardcore worldconquest on my PC. I will combine some of your methods with Mine and hopefully sucsessful.
You can actually maximise your economy without building so many towns. I have normally 15 fields, up to 18 on mining and up to 18 on wood. The rest can be soldiers. Fortresses are better to win more area on the sides. Sometimes i can build a fortress right near their capital. And with the military buildings i can rush the capital pretty quick and they have no time to attack one of your cities.
The extra cities give me more territory, which is important as I deny the AI, and get more out of taxation upgrades. I also reduce the distance of potentially getting to the capital. Lone fortresses are good as an alert, as they give you time to assemble a defence.
I think it's also important to have about min. 3 generals to make quick moves.
Ideally, I'd have a few more for each army as you can position yourself quicker, but decoys, ambush and forced march are super helpful at any stage of the game.
Hi, i'm a big fan of strategiegames myself. I think you do a great job. I always build about three cities and build first the economy and the science.during that time i build up the army and just defend myself. When the library got most of the developements i attack with an unstopable army. Most players i watched before build lots of cities with little defense and they get sometimes lost to the enemy. I rather build a fortress with military buildings closer to the enemy.
Hey there! Haha, thanks for the nice words. Yeah, the strategies and tactics in games are almost like a puzzle waiting to be solved, which is why I like them. That's a good balance between military and economy. I can't relax in toughest difficulty and go full boom as I know the AI will be on my doorstep in moments, so I do have to commit some resources to military or towers/forts just to hold them off a little while.
You are a really good player! Thanks for the playthroughs!
Hahaha, nah, I'm pretty ordinary. Just know how to beat the AI, haha. But thanks for the kind words and I'm glad you've enjoyed the playthroughs!
What a beast!! GG
Love rise of nations!
I always wonder how the game would evolve if it got the same attention as the Age of Empires series.

33:35 Ayy thats where I live. 🇦🇺
I lived there for roughly 10 years. 🇦🇺 Man, how time flies.
This is gonna be a rough challenge. I would say dlc not necessary, just beating the game. Artorius and Manus i think are harder than Gwyn.
At this point in time, I've recently beaten Kalameet but not Manus. I'm a bit of a completionist, so I definitely feel the DLC is necessary but I get your point, haha. So far the run hasn't been too bad, there's been some frustrating moments for sure, but nothing where I feel helpless as of yet. I have just Manus and Gwyn left and I agree. Manus is definitely proving to be the hardest obstacle.
@@vcq8856 Actually I agree now. I thought about it and if you really are doing a challenge run then depending on what you want to do, trying to beat everything as level 1 is more glorious than just beating the game. And like you beating the black knights in the undead berg as well is a part of that challenge. It's not necessary to do but it makes it more interesting to watch.
@@zonefreakman Well said and it's a bit of fun and exploration. Some areas and enemies are a lot harder when you don't have as much health, stamina, poise or damage. That's it, gotta go for glory!

Eek 32k Souls - Would anger me too.
Less upsetting in the endgame but always hurts to lose a decent amount
I feel like people who jump from intermediate to hard don't realize you need to harass the enemy and keep doing it. If you play against intermediate AI, you can literally defeat the enemy with only one huge attack, things are different on hard and micro gains significant more importance.
Yup, the transition is a bit of a jump since you also have to split your focus between managing your military and economy. Getting too caught up in one can see you lose track of the other.
