Thanks for explaining things so well!

Want to learn more
U do great teaching. How much to go to your school.
Thank you! Well I don't have a school but I have been asked that question before and if I ever decide to do a school I will let all of you know on my website. www.stingsaddlery.com
Good looking horn !
LOVE the video!! New skill I learned on how BEVEL the excess edge off. Have you done a video on how to REPLACE a padded seat or put a new on on? I just replaced one and I am sure there HAS TO BE an easier way... I think they used BARGE for EVERYTHING.. as everything was glued down soooooo hard. The Leather Lady, LLC
What’s the purpose of all the extra leather on the backside of your kennel seems like a waste
Well I always find that it’s better to have to much excess than not enough. And the only waste you really have, is all belly, so you really aren’t wasting leather that’s usable for anything else.
I have always found that it is better to have to much excess than not enough. The last thing you want is to start putting on your binding and realize you didn’t make it big enough. The only leather that you waste is all belly and you can’t use it for anything else. So you might as well use it for excess.
Love the video and What kind of Camera are you using.. VERY CLEAR close ups.. Good job to the camera person :) a few questions if I may please. why type of hide and weight did you use for the cantle and seat? looks like a 3-4oz calf ?
Thank You! My wife does all the filming with an IPhone 11. Leather used is 10 oz that is skived down to a taper so it folds around and into the stitching groove perfectly. The excess is around 3-4oz
What kind of tree is that not the maker but the tree itself
It’s a Modified Association.
Nice work…do you know places to source fresh rawhide? I’ve found it difficult, even online.
Bueno el trabajo👍👍👍
from a practical perspective, this method works. From an educational standpoint, I don't think this explanation is correct. I could have been taught wrong or misunderstood, or perhaps these definitions are colloquial.
I just now saw this comment. Sorry for taking so long to respond. I know that just about every saddle maker does things differently, so it doesn’t surprise me that this way seems odd to you. It’s the way that works for me and seems easy to learn. If you have a way that works for you I would suggest you stick with it.
You missed some steps before you started the stitching dam it!
Hi 👋🏻. Цена седла? И отправляете ли вы в Россию?
Where’d you get the pistol? Looks nice
It’s a Ruger vaquero 45 caliber.
Where do you get the pattern for the horn and the measurements I am redoing one and I am having trouble finding a pattern
I make all my own patterns. The best way to make a pattern and know that it works is to make it out of chap leather.
Ok thanks
Keep making videos brother I enjoy them.
What king of grinding wheel you have to sharpen your tools,
I need to do this exact job to my saddle. What Oz of leather do you recommend?
The bottom is split to 8 oz middle is 8 oz top is 9 -10oz
Looks great. What weight leather do you use for the cantle binding?
Packin' a firearm in the shop???
Always! That day it was a 45 Ruger vaquero, today it’s a Ruger sp101 357 magnum. 😉
Serious young master!!!
Yep! $5000.00 is middle of the road for a custom base price saddle.
@Sting Saddlery it is a piece of Art, not just a saddle, so a price for Art had no limits some times. Hope one day I will be ready to buy such saddle! Thanks!
@@Alex-horsman thank you!
Hi there, I am just trying to find out what are the best duck bill or cantal plyers for saddlers also what brand, l have noticed that you have some very nice tools so it would be great to hear from you thank you very much.
My favorite are cantle pliers made by Jeremiah Watt www.ranch2arena.com I have a lot of tools made by him.
@@SterlingCampbellCustomSaddles Hi there once again, l would just like to say thank you very much for your quick response and the information that you gave me. I have just ordered the cantal plyers that you suggested but I live in Australia say they might take a while to get here but still once again a big thank you and I also enjoy your you tube videos they have tort me a lot 🥃👍
@@lancesim9218 you’re welcome!
Hello. Are you in USA? What is the average price of your saddle? Thanks.
Yes I am. $5000.00
thank you
What type of foam do you use and where do you get it? I'd like to use it for different application. Thank you.
I use a high density memory foam that’s 1/2” thick. Where to get it is the problem now. I am currently looking for a new supplier as well. It’s also called insulation foam.
thanks
Saludos👍👍👍
i havve missed you sir, thanks for another great session
Well it was un edited but I’m glad you liked it.
Muy bien👍👍👍
Love the video, your slickfork looks great, I have only made 28 saddles, the last one 20 yrs ago getting back into it, you didn't show how you set up the rawhide, could you show how you set it on the horn thanks, from Australia
Hello from another saddle making student of Jesse Smith,
Howdy!
I've been trying to figure out set up like this. Thanks for showing it. I also really appreciate your saddle making tips. I'm about 3/4 done with my first saddle
You’re welcome, glad to help. That is good to hear, life is to short to learn all we can, can all we learn, and sit on the lid. I was given a gift and I will always share it. If you have any questions feel free to yo send me a message.
Your narrative of those processes you utilize is always clear - makes learning much easier.
Thank you. I try to keep it simple. If you ever have any questions just ask.
Thanks for videos I’m doing ground seat on my first now
You’re welcome! Glad to hear.
Saludos👍👍👍
👍👍👍
Could you please make a video of how you did the braid on the horn?
Okay! I will do that.
Just adding your DNA to it
Incredible craftsmanship!
Thank you!
You’re welcome! Let me know if there’s anything you want to see and I will make a video on it.
Liked and subscribed! Please keep them coming!
Nice! Thank you!
You had commented on the video How to put in an Inlaid Padded Seat. But I can’t get to your comment. The reason I put rubber cement on the foam first is so I can take my seat out without damaging the foam.
Saludos👍👍👍
Saludos muy buen trabajo👍👍👍
Hey how's it going I still have the stick 😊
It’s going good! That’s good to hear. How is it going with you?
@@SterlingCampbellCustomSaddles it's tiring here but still alive
@@kingdavid6685 well you can come back out here. It looks pretty much the same except it’s only 20 to 30 degrees. Lol
Beautiful works. Can u show how you install the strainer plate? Please
If you started in the middle you would not run out of thread and your thread will not looks nasty when you get to the end!
It was very good but you didn’t show how you placed the rawhide binder on
Your right I didn’t. My wife ( who is the one taking the video) had to leave and she didn’t get back till I was done doing that. I have an other saddle coming up that has this same style of horn on it. If you want to see how that is done I will do an other video showing that? It’s probably the easiest part of the whole horn.
You are a true Artesian. Thank you for the video, I look forward to your video showing the application of the natural rawhide to the swell around the outer edge of the gullet. In addition, I'll definitely watch the next horn video, wherein you show the horn cap and crimping of the top portion of the rawhide. Thanks again and Happy Trails to you as well.
You got some great music going! Buck up and Huck it!
Thank you! You can never go wrong with Wylie Gustafson. Not only is he a friend of mine but he’s a great singer.
How much prec
This is an old add when my shop was in Helena MT but base price on my saddles is $3,200.00. The ruff out saddle in this video would cost today around $4,000.00 the stamped one with all the spots would be around $6,800.00.
