I haven't lived here long but have visited this mall quite a bit. I appreciate this history... I am sorry I missed its heyday. I think I heard just recently the the Buccaneers plan has been scrapped.
I remember the early days.
We used to go to this mall all of the time. It's really changed alot. But this brings back a ton of great memories ❤
Yes!.My home turf!.Used to frequent this mall in my youth and still do to this day.And the surrounding malls as well.I was just in this mall yesterday and it is a very busy and bustling one, because it is located by several major highways. This is also one of New Jersey’s busiest and biggest malls.Paramus New Jersey is locally known as the retail mecca of the NJ,NY Metro area and a fun place to shop.Thank you Eric for this upload. This is one i have been waiting for!.😎😊
Never heard of this mall.Interesting history, thanks for the upload!.😎
Around 1999 they built a halfpipe in the middle of the mall. It was the first time i saw people skateboarding. I still skate.
Not permanently. For an event.
Those arena plans for the Buccaneers fell through.
My favorite memory of the Boulevard in the 70's and 80's was when we would leave - we would always pass by the fountain and stop at See's candy. My dad would always get $1 worth of fudge, which would average half a dozen pieces.
Thank you for this upload!.😎
Happy times going to this mall as a young child in the 1950s. 🌞
it would kool to see some mall videos from texas San Antonio Asutin & Houston or dallas or fort worth
Right now I am covering some of the earliest malls from all 50 states. Thanks for watching
Yes I remember this Mall very much so. Was one of my very first job. Spent a lot of time here. Sad when it went vacant
Great videos love your channel subscribed
Thank you for finding my channel. It is a slow process and I hope it will grow.
Shocked don't have more views so much history here
I love how you say "Broadway Southwest".. that's the OG way! I loved shopping at The Broadway in highschool! Macy's sucks!! lol
I did your suggestion on Esprit. It will be coming out soon on Eric C Productions
Thank you for another interesting mall video!.😎
Sears is under construction right now
I have been going to gateway since I was little. Still go there every week
This was a big childhood staple. Many times the family would go all day after Church. In the 90's Penn Square Mall was where all my friends liked to go.
I use to love Crossroads Mall. The Arcade there was amazing. Over time it just got trashed out. Just like Shepard Mall did. Sad
I spent a lot of time in that arcade....watching other people with tons of quarters play the newest and greatest.
Park Fair Shopping Center on Euclid Ave. In Des Moines, Iowa, was the first indoor Malll opened in 1956.
There is now (July '24) a mixed age school (s) in the main building, a science academy using some of the perioheral buildings, the two hotels are still operational, an AMC theater (probably soon to close with conatruction greatly hindering access), and a VERY busy texas roadhouse. The remainder of perioheral buildings and the majority of the main building stand empty.
AMC closed in Jan 24. Building owner refused to make updates to the property.
I bought my first suit at the Dillard's in Park Central and I still have it! I've never worn it, probably be buried in it 😅😂
All the whys and wherefores.,victor
Stop yakking it up and listen.,victor
heritage park mall is also just 7 miles away in midwest city and a lot closer to the military base. too many malls in too small an area
spent a lot of time at the lenscrafters here
All those years ago (before Hurricane Katrina hit) when I was still living with my mother in Mississippi at the time... I used to hang out at the Aladdin's Castle Arcade that used to be in that mall.
Love these mall history uploads that you do!.Thanks Eric!.😎
Thank you Eric, for another great video!.😎
I remember browsing Eastern Treasures as a kid. They had lots of cool martial arts things and Asian art. Seems like there was also a dedicated martial arts store there once too. That was kind of a craze in the late 80’s. There was a really cool hobby store next to it where I learned about table top roleplaying games. Used to hang out at the arcade too as a teenager in the late 80’s.
The hours spent at Piccadilly Circus were too many to count
Absolutely i remember this mall. I'd love to see the inside of it again just to take a trip down memory Lane. Christmas time was always awesome at crossroads and Halloween was always fun too. I couldn't believe it when I heard it had closed because I moved to Shawnee/Tecumseh area. All the Oklahoma malls that I've always went to are still around except for crossroads. It's sad. I really hope one day they can totally renovate it and I could take my kids there for fun memories like I used to have
There's a video of Crossroads Mall inside after it shut down on UA-cam somewhere because I watched it. There's also a video on UA-cam from the 80s during Christmas time.
@@Cartier_specialist awesome! Thanks for the info. I'll check that out
In the late 70s until around 1990 this was a great mall. Then they just seemed to quit trying. I don't think gang activity was its demise, it was poor management and lack of long-term planning for keeping the property maintained and secure.
I grew up in the OKC Metro. Crossroads was always the slightly sketchy cousin of Quail Springs or Penn Square for me. It was a decent mall in its day. The Steve and Barry's was cool. There were some unique stores as well like Easter Treasures and the pet store that was there. Even though it wasn't my favorite, I kind of miss it being there. That area is indeed super rough now so it makes total sense that people stopped wanting to go there.
Steve and Barry’s? Sketchy? It’s seems you only went their when it was well past it’s prime and not in its hey day.
My grandparents owned Salon Brands at this mall. They were a big retailer for hair care products and they ran a nail and hair salon out of this store. Before it was demolished there was still a big label scar where the store used to be. I got a picture of it. You had a picture that caught a glimpse of it. It was right next to one of the mall entrances. You can see the S in one of the pictures lol! The mall had a train / Christmas village that they would build every year! It's a shame it's gone now. Ohh and the food court always smelled amazing.
My mother used to drag me there all the time when I was a kid!
Thank you for this!.Your uploads are always informative!.😎
Thanks for this upload!.😎
I work at Peppermint Music until 1999 when I moved to Los Angeles. Such awesome memories at that mall. Anyone remember Leatherman's?
Why did you omit the cause of this decline? This was once prime retail area and now crime ridden.
When we lived in Steger in the early 50s, Park Forest students attended Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights. I remember seeing the Alfred Hitchcock movie, "The Trouble With Harry" at the Holiday Theatre just before I enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1956.
My dad thoroughly enjoyed Bishops Cafeteria. I remember overloading on French fries when I was a kid.
A great place to eat. I was a busboy in the downtown cafeteria when I was sixteen.
This is my favorite mall, I remember everything about it
