M RETRO
Приєднався 10 січ 2021
Welcome dearest friends, lost acquaintances and other nomads passing by. This channel is a nostalgia trip with retro technology and an archive of the RETRO SHIT I used to make as a teenager. Be warned, a lot of this RETRO SHIT, is actual shit. BUT it's here for the sake of looking back, sharing with old and new friends and remembering a simpler time.
Enjoy mediocrity at best, and trash as per standard.

GRADE 8 VIDEO SCHOOL PROJECT (2003)
Переглядів 203 роки тому
Instead of doing an actual written project M RETRO and GANG chose to film themselves in a dumpster and entertain the class with this video. We got an A . The original version is over 40 minutes long of pure gold, but we had to keep some of that in the archives. Here's a lame highlight of some prepubescent teens doing dumb things.

Cool cool! Found one of these at the goodwill bins the other month, finally got around to buying film a week ago and now here's this!
I found mine at a thrift store too!
T is for Time. Time exposure.
Nice 😊 looks like it was fun - great results too
My flash also has a bad corrosion problem, I can’t open the battery compartment at all. How did you get yours open?
I used a little rubbing alcohol and kind of pried it open.
good vid but why didn't you try the tapes that were dodgy that would clarify whether the head cleaner worked or not ?
Thanks! I did eventually go back and it did clean up those wacky ones.
Lol
27 magnificent shots 😂😂
That's pretty crazy. I don't understand. Some of these cleaner tapes comes with solution you have to add droplets into. The one you use did not. Makes me wonder how it works? It can't be by solution, right? Cause if it's self-contained with solution, wouldn't that stuff dry out by now even if it's brand-new? So if it helped you, how does it work? Just some sort of ribbon made of microfiber or something?
This type of cassette is classified as a dry tape, I hear they're the most common these days. They are abrasive and remove the "dirt" mechanically, not sure much more than that! It ended up working so I'm happy about that!
Don't use a wet cleaner on a camera unless the manual asks for it.
You wuh?
Dude nice one. You a good dude. Keep it up.
Thanks for the video, had the same issue as you. Pre 00 videos played great, stuck a 2001 video in and it looked like shit. Giving this a try!
Good luck!
My Handycam has the same problem and I'm holding a TDK Head Cleaner in my hand watching this. Wish me luck😭
Hey retro...I have a sony hi8 tr340...can dirty heads cause the video to pixelate and then quit playing altogether?
It's possible, might be worth a try to clean the heads. But a multitude of other factors could potentially cause this issue. Good luck!
@@m_retro ...dirty heads...cleaning tape for 15 sec. and voila!....thank you for the help.
dope video man
Thanks man!
Can you use this tape more than one time?
Yes you can!
Cool video
did you try the old tapes that dropped out audio?
I did! It seemed to help quite a bit in my situation. Not perfect, but good.
@@m_retro good stuff, I have the same camera as you, I took off the tape deck side panel an hour ago (2 screws) and cleaned manually with a cotton swap and isopropyl alcohol, and then wiped it twenty minutes later with a spectacle (glasses) wipe. Works perfectly, I didn’t have the time nor the funds to purchase the cleaning tape. I heard the VHS cleaning tapes can actually damage your heads, never even heard of the 8mm cleaning tapes until I saw your video. Cheers for the video
@@cian4624 That's cool, glad it worked for you. I have read though that cotton swabs can leave residue on the tape head. I was going to go that route as well but decided against it. I did find these (or something like it) along the way that I would have used instead of cotton swabs: www.amazon.ca/MG-Chemicals-Double-Head-Chamois/dp/B008OA7YG6/
@@m_retro you’re right, the cotton wraps alone with the alcohol didn’t completely clean them, must have left a residue as I was getting a better but not perfect picture, that’s why I eventually took off the side panel (2 screws) and cleaned it (clockwise) with a glasses cleaner (almost similar to the chamois swabs) that gave it a good finish. From what I understand the alcohol breaks down the dirt, but must be cleaned. I’m gonna order some of those chamois swabs for future cleans. Cheers
You look so familiar...
