I totally get it! Washcloths and scarves are real hobby killers lol. I'm glad socks were your entry back into it and are being so well received, too! Regarding your question about changing the gauge for the hat pattern, as we mentioned in the episode it's not always so easy. However, since it's only one gauge away (DK to Worsted) I have some suggestions which hopefully will give you some options without going into re-design mode. 1) Is the yarn you're looking to use a similar fiber content to what the pattern used? If not, it might be harder to get a similar gauge. 2) Knit a swatch in the same pattern as the gauge in the pattern. Start with the same needle size as recommended. If it comes out too small (too many stitches per inch) try a larger needle. Once you meet the gauge, check to ensure you like the fabric as it might be looser/more open. 3) If neither of those work, the easiest option will be to find a new pattern for a DK weight. Otherwise you'll end up re-designing the pattern and it could take a long time to tweak stitch counts to match the pattern. Good luck and keep us posted!

Because the apron teaches basic skills. Why jump into the most complicated projects just to screw up expensive fabric and yarn? I hate knitting sweaters. They never fit even when gauge is followed.

@@sharontabor7718 That makes sense too! My home economics class in middle school (late 90s) taught a pillowcase and PJ pants which I thought was a clever set. Funny enough, I ended up making 3 aprons much later for my brother and his family since he’s a big BBQ guy! I still hate knitting scarves though! 😅 You’re not the first person I’ve heard that complaint about sweaters! Have you tried one in pieces? Not a guarantee, but it offers a lot more structure than those in the round in one piece.

@@LightFromLantern I've felt like I'm the only one putting spells into my knitting and sewing, since it's never really talked about, everyone just talks about spell jars and all the "normal" witch-stuff (and nothing wrong about that! I do that kind of spells also, but my most used method is using my knitting and such since I'm a crafter at heart) so I'm so incredibly happy to find your channel! ❤️
