Westys Fishing Adventures

The problem first started way back in 1980 something on the banks of the Billabong creek at Jerilderie, an along the many bends an stumps of the mighty Murray River at Tocumwal I was all of 4 years old and fishing for Murray Cod with bait.
The problem soon turned to an addiction that addiction has never dulled or subsided, it’s only grown into an obsessive compulsive disorder.
I am not a pro, nor a sponsored angler. I am just a regular Joe that’s out to enjoy the outdoors and share my adventures in this digital world we live in.
Based on the Clarence River in NSW I fish the majority of time with lures unless I have my family onboard, or I decided to do something different. We love to get out an chase crabs, catch and release a few fins, fish in the local bream an flathead comps and just explore our beautiful water filled coast.
There’s the odd tackle or marine equipment review thrown in too.

Solitary Islands Resort Wooli
As the seagull (DJI Drone) takes to the air from the grass outside cabin C1 at solitary Islands resort Wooli, an heads in a westerly direction towards the beautiful Wooli river. From here he takes us for a birds eye view of the stretch of the river out the front of the resort, soaring high in the air to show us the amazingly beautiful ocean and river views from an altitude of 70m.

Fruit Salad Fishing in the Clarence River is a mixed bag of Flathead, Bream, a Remora (shark sucker fish), and a dirty ol Toadfish. All fish were caught on lures.

Ever wondered what goes on inside your crab trap?, Westy's Fishing Adventures has the answer as you see their is a feast fit for a big muddie, some muddie self defence of his feed from a brave little bream, an attempted escape after a Jennie (female) crab arrives. Footage was recorded in the Clarence River 21/01/2016, in 1.7M of water using a SONY HDR-AS200V.

a few little flathead on soft plastics and hardbody lures, 12 caught and released for the day 10 30-34cm 2 over legal NSW 36cm.
when is mercury going to make "BIG TILLER " HANDLE FOR MERCURY 40 H.P. 2 CYCLINDER?
My sled habe the same 5 m invader 165 and we can’t more than 28kmh ..😒 We have found a guide pump behind I broken I hope this was the reason

Hey Wyatt from memory it’s a 16p stainless prop, that at 5700rpm was good for 65kph. Fully loaded boat with gear. That was with only 6 hours on the motor so probably does a bit more now it’s run in more.

Hey Anthony, for the short time I had it really really good, considering I sold the boat it was on with about 6 hours on the motor it was still on its first tank (25 litres) of fuel.

So good mate!!! What motor was on it before? I got a 25hp merc 2006 4 stroke and upgrading to a 40hp brand new merc . Looks like I'll get a 10kph gain roughly on my 399 proline. More just to get it on plane as I have a heavy cast deck etc looks like it's a worthy upgrade! Thanks for the video mate 🤙
Got a brand new one and it slides into neutral when going for a few and not rough conditions. Can’t find any issues, not any help to resolve but the break in did not go so good when full throttle to neutral! Holy shi! Brand new boat and mercury motor and dangerous af. I’ll contact the dealer too but figured it may be an easy adjustment somewhere but the manual does not help.

Hey Scott, I thought it was reasonably priced, considering it was far cheaper to put the stainless prop on at purchase for a hugely reduced price of a few hundred bucks. it was a grand cheaper than the equivalent Suzuki an on par with the same spec’d Yamaha.

I’ve got a Mercury 40 up four stroke 2019 model , be careful of petrol with ethanol as it totally blocked up the VST tank on the motor after 20 hrs use , Use clean new fuel and additive otherwise it will breakdown . Happy boating all
Ethanol is bad for anything an everything is my opinion John, but that said it did say in the manual it could be used. I have only ever used premium 98 fuel any small engine. but you’re advice is appreciated as many people do use ethanol in there boats.
Correct on VST, issue is not being able to use fuel with ethanol it's running it and leaving it in there. Ethanol attracts water. If not running for long periods the service manual recommend draining the VST. I have cleaned one VST and a lot of carbs on used motors with ethanol varnish that I just avoid it now.
I wouldn't run E10 in a lawn mower, let alone a State of the art Mercury 4 stroke outboard motor.
Do you think it’s better then the merc big tiller
sadly Jacob I didn’t have much to do with the big tiller, but from my understanding from research and what the dealer told me they are similar in many ways, but better in the tilt control and the positioning of the shift handle.
How u liking new tiller handle. I'm looking at putting it on my 40 replace the old tiller.
Hey Omie, the new multi tiller is awesome, everything is in a convenient easy to reach location. I found it a bit to long for my tinny but you learn to live that an you get use to it’s turning limit due to the length. but overall really happy with it.
