Excellent footage of Bristow Aberdeen 1987. Lots of Tigers and Bristow people should bring back a few memories for anyone that worked there in the 80's. This video is a digital transfer from VHS tape.

Fire fighters return

Two Bell 412s return after taking part in a combined fire fighting air force of seven helicopters and two fixed wing aircraft battling to control two bush fires close to Nicosia, Cyprus. The crews, having grabbed all the glory, head for home.The engineers now have 2-3 hours of work recovering the smoked out aircraft ready for next days flying programme.

I worked for Bristow for 24 years as an avionic engineer but only a few weeks at Aberdeen. This video was almost lost forever only being found recently when an old Bristow engineer was clearing out his loft!

@skyweaver100 Wow.. that is crazy!! Well im happy for you it turned out well-you seem alive ;-) Yes I would probably be paniced :) I went in a super turbulent flight this summer and it scared me a lot hehee I thought we would crash all time :P We also mad a go around and we was really doing a crazy landing at the end XD this is lot worse though. but what was wrong whit the plane?
Yes, it was a real emergency. I am aircraft engineer and understood the situation we were in - scared the shit out of me! But we all react differently so me and my son laughed about it and made the video. I also thought that if we ditched or crashed, the investigators could use the video in their investigations.
At a busy airport most aircraft will be directed to make a few turns as Air Traffic Control line them up for the runway. If it is very busy you might end in a holding pattern going around and around and around descending 300M every time until you drop out of the bottom of the "stack" and take your turn to land.
Whaat, at first it wasnt an emergency and you jsut made fun of "having one" then it happened or what :P? Well, scary shit X) Im not flying so i wont experience this *happy*
