      Hey Clara, thanks for your question. I know some infrared appliances are used for hyperthermia treatments, which is artificially creating the core temperature to strengthening the immune system. Unfortunately we cannot really comment on this for liability reasons, however you could check out hyperthermiaacademy.com/ for some more generic information.

    • @saunas
      @saunas Рік тому

      Hi Stephanie, thank you for your comment. For a condition like POTS it is best to seek expert medical advice. The lowest temperature will be subjective to how she is feeling, and the benefits will depend on the physiological response to the raising of the core temperature. Hope that helps at all 🙏

    Amazing episode loved it, can u use the RTL lamp whilst your sauna is on too?

    • @TheHelsiShow
      @TheHelsiShow 2 роки тому

      Hi Andrew thank you for watching! Really appreciate it :) With RLT devices in the sauna, there is really one primary consideration, and that is, how do the devices act under extreme heat conditions? If the RLT bulbs get too hot, it affects how they perform in terms of output and efficiency. It can also cause damage to the device itself and cause overheating in the electricals etc. From a health perspective, absolutely. Combining RLT with any other wellness treatment is a bit of a no-brainer because it only requires the application to the desired area. So with an infrared sauna or any heat therapy, it is a great complimentary modality. Hope that helps at all?

    Is binders taking necessary? As I saw other videos saying to so. I feel slight brain fog and little dizzy when done after 15min. Just started using about a few weeks

    • @TheHelsiShow
      @TheHelsiShow 2 роки тому

      Hi Phillip, thank you for your question! They are definitely not necessary, your body has natural detoxification pathways that rid the toxins when in the bloodstream. If you have higher levels though, binders could speed up the overall detoxification process. Like always, detox is only half of the picture, and reducing intake of toxins is just as important! Sorry for the late reply, I hope that helps?

    Thoroughly enjoyed this presentation. Solidified the efficacy of some of the practices I have cobbled together as I’ve explored improving my health. Sauna, taking an ice shower and Wim Hof breathing every day and repeat has evolved into my routine. While sitting outside in the cold in my shorts I’ve wanted to add some additional cold. One great idea from Dr. Cohen was to immerse my feet in cold water while I’m sitting outside in my shorts to increase my cold exposure. My condo deck can’t safely support the weight of a full cold tank, but an ice chest with even ambient temp water could help. I then take a second shorter sauna session to heat back up and then straight into the ice shower, which gives me a 110degree F temp swing in a few seconds.

  • @royromano9792

    I understand his point of view regarding the sauna. But, cold therapy is something completely different than what he is describing. He is either not familiar with cold therapy or it’s benefits, or he is explicitly talking about some other thing that is specifically sauna related.

    • @TheHelsiShow
      @TheHelsiShow 2 роки тому

      Hi Roy, thanks for your comment. Yes he's talking specifically about sauna, and not just infrared or traditional, but sauna as a culture. This includes incorporating cold into the practice. You are correct still, that cold therapy is different, and cold therapy as a terminology for different iterations of cold applications, is similar as the term heat therapy is used. But in this instance, he is talking about sauna culture that incorporates a cold plunge etc. He's also one of the leading researchers in this field of sauna!

      Hi, @@jeremyalexander3505 great to have a new sauna user on the channel! To be honest, we are biased toward infrared saunas. Infrared, especially high-quality infrared saunas such as Clearlight Saunas because the additional health benefits provided from far-infrared and full spectrum infrared wavelengths far outway traditional saunas and steam rooms. Infrared is basically all of the same benefits plus more. They are also really efficient, look great, and are cheap to run. In saying that, even traditional saunas are good for your health.
