When you look at it on paper, the FC3 Su-27 available on most multiplayer servers has datalink and these missiles which have great range comparable to an AMRAAM, but they're completely irrelevant in practice lose to something like a hornet or f-16 every time which forces them to hide in mountains. :/

taking out an aircraft that is designed to attack ground targets and had no air-to-air capability is literally shooting fish in a barrel. You might as well have programmed in a target drone.

I would think that since the United states has been playing witj stealth for the seversl decades, that they know how to detect stealth. The f117 is being used to train pilots how to hunt stealth and cruise missiles.

Considering the Moskva sank, it's not a fair contest.

If you'd sent an EW plane along the F-14s and Phoenixes would be blind and useless. Their radars were awesome for 1970, but today we could jam 'em, spoof 'em, and probably make those missiles pair up to dance a waltz. The US knows every detail of how those radars work and what their weaknesses are. And now they're only in-use by a potential enemy. I'm sure that equipment's in the EW database now, and a Prowler, Growler, or F-35 will all know exactly what to do to it when they detect it. :)

I had fun watching, but charging blindly into the enemy's guns is soooo WWI :D If they knew they were in a shooting war, a Tico operating alone would probably keep a Seahawk scouting ahead for air, surface, and underwater threats. Then the Tico can run with radar off. The Moskvas would see the helo's radar, but not know where the ship was. But naturally the Moskvas would be using their helicopters to scout too. Theirs don't have a surface search radar, but they can send targeting info to Moskva's missiles...if one got within line-of-sight of the Tico without eating a SAM. Not impossible with the Tico's radar off. But I don't know anything about DCS. Maybe multiple helos with targeting relays would be awkward or impossible to do.
