Hey thank you so much. I appreciate the kind words! 🙏 So I guess a few things come to play as far as tone. If you’re using your fingers or pick, amp, pedals etc. In this specific video I was playing with fingers and running into a Tube Screamer to get the drive sound. It makes it sound a bit more present in the mids to cut through. I was going into a Vox style amp if I remember correctly. So that’s on the gear side, as far as playing in full honesty, I have no idea what I’m doing :) Just following my instinct and trying to emulate what David would play! I hope that helps!

@@ianlitovich thankyou so much for replying. I'm playing fingerstyle. I have a tone for Davids' High Hopes solo which I'm happy with through my boss ME80 with an extra compressor and reverb through my laney amp. I'll keep at it 👍🤣

Thank you so much! 🙏 Absolutely love the Duo Jet. I feel personally that it’s a very versatile guitar and you can get a wide array of tones (specifically speaking of ones with Filtertrons). I’ve personally never been a huge fan of Les Paul’s but I bond with Duo Jets quite a lot. I know they are two different things but having the chambered small cutaway body to me is such a huge benefit as far as comfort. I love that it can get dark like a Les Paul with HB but you can also dial in twangy tele type stuff. A lot of people hate on the tone switch which is the preset positions of a bit rolled off or a lot and I actually find it very useful to get tones on the fly. Maybe I’m biased but if you’re on the hunt for one I highly recommend it. I think you’ll fall in love with it. Good luck 🤘🏻

To be fair, in the context of what I'm playing here, it's pretty much going for that old 60's sound. I actually use them all the time in the studio for all sorts of things, not just old sounding music. They might not be popular anymore but in the right hands they can bring something very fresh to a ton of styles of music in this day and age..
