Android Auto on Skyline OS 2024
How I made Android Auto work on a 2024 Road Glide with Skyline OS. Sorry its not a professional video, I only do these upon request or for certain how-to things I run across that I think will help someone. There are some other videos out on UA-cam that do a great job talking about this as well, but if this helps someone fantastic. I got the parts to make this work from Amazon.

Caught on my dash cam. This is what happens when a trailer isn't hooked properly. No safety chains and the ball came out of the receiver. The trailer came very close to taking out a car entering the on ramp. I70 between Salina and Hays KS going East.

How would I connect the phone to a charger?
@@jaylobos4015 up to you. I carry a separate battery pack.
Do you have to pair the ai box 5o the bike or you cell to get android auto to work
@@jameskost6150 both.
I bought. at first it worked a few times. but now can't figure out what's causing it to stop working. in short, it is not a good solution! sometimes it works but mostly when I start it doesn't work?
@peeterreemann4594 I'm not sure what's causing your issue. It works fir me but it does randomly disconnect. Honestly I am waiting for HD to make a better solution available.
How do you Charge your phone?
@@DarwinismGamer I use a portable charger and keep it in my saddlebag.
Thanks for the info, I clicked on the link, it says product is unavailable, will be picking up my 24 Road Glide and was hoping for a solution like this, since I have an android phone, trying to save the 350.0 Harley wants for the subscription navigation.
@@kerryfallon8754 I think any wireless android auto/carplay device will work.

What year is your Springfield? I have a 2017 and I cannot, for the life of me, find any bars to replace the stock ones. Polaris did a good job finding the weirdest sizes and lengths for these damn bars.
@paulthompson8649 it was a 2020. I sold it, but check out KST Kustoms. Give em a call. They will make bars for the Springfield.

All these fence-pulling videos make sense ONLY if we own tractors or pickup trucks, which I don't. So it would have been helpful if you had at least demonstrated how to do it with the puller on the fence post!
Perfect, go make a video showing that. I showed A way, not THE way.
Does anyone know if a garden welded wire fence 0 gauge would be good enough for a yard fence ? I have half an acre with a small dog with no neighbors yet but if I get neighbors later that have bigger dogs would this good enough to keep them from getting my dog . I’m going with a 6 ft fence . If not , what fence would be recommend? I’m on a budget so I can’t afford cyclone fencing right now . 😞
Thank yoy
Awesome idea! Thanks for the pro tip!!!
I like this idea of making the fence tight. Also thank you for taking the time to shoot and post this video. 🤙🏼👏🏼😎 definitely will give it a try.
THANK A MILLION for the simple instructions. I have a full shop. however background is working on my semi and old car. couldn't believe that this simple tool was kicking my butt.
Great advice!
How far apart are you 4x4s?
I dont live there anymore, but they were 10' if memory serves.
I don’t have clamps, I think I’d just bolt the wood together with lag bolts
Wow, we are going to be installing 400’ of woven fence, I like your setup.
Awesome idea! I’m running my fence posts now and I was trying to decide if welded wire would look good enough. Now I know it does!
How did the staples hold over 2 years? Genuinely curious.
I sold the house, but I drove by it a month ago and the fence still looks great.
Do you not even use the plate? Im confused.
Man you just saved ne a lot of money 😂thank you
Thanks for sharing, great idea!
How tall are you? & are your arms shoulder height when sitting?
Where are you attaching the straps to your truck? It looks like the under carriage but can’t tell in the video.
To my hitch.
Can't get easier than this
Hi we watched your video and it was very informative. We have a 2022 and a 2021 and neither of the installed brake controllers are actually stopping the trailer. We have also tried multiple trailers and multiple brake controllers. The dealership wasn't too helpful.. suggested there is maybe wiring near the master cylinder that needed connected, but they weren't sure. Any thoughts?
There are lots of possibilities. I always approach things systematically. Pull a tire off and have someone activate the brakes while checking physically to see if the brakes are being actuated. If so, then the brakes may need to be adjusted. If not then you have to start working your way up the wiring. Is the 7pin getting a brake signal? If not, then it's a vehicle wiring issue or brake controller issue. If so, then the trailer has a wiring issue somewhere.
Keep in mine your truck needs to come with a trailer package in order for this to be a plug n play situation. I just did one on a 22 Silverado 1500 4x4, with a factory tow package - which basically is a receiver hitch, 7 pin plug-in at rear of truck and the under dash connector as shown in this video. I believe the factory RPO code is ( Z82 )
Nothing to do with break controller but on my 21 gmc sierra i added fog lamp bought a complete kit but i needed to take it in to the dealer so they can program it to factory. I assume you need to do this or just buy and aftermarket set up for break controller!
Hello, would it be ok to use your clip on my channel? Full credited of course.
Sorry if I didnt answer, but sure.
Hey, May I use your dashcam clip in next compilation video ? Linked and credited on screen. Thank You !
Sure.
@@garagehero1300 Thanks!
Like how you're thinking; always some smart ideas out there! Appreciate it. 👍
I figured out how to use it but my problem is the roller pins every one of em inside the bearing came out of it! Catastrophic engine failure. Metal got chewed up throughout the engine. Twin cam 88. The tool you normally use to pull out what's left of the bearing and thats just the round housing part of it, is too small to pull it and the larger one is too big. Lol damn ole harley Davidson man! Nothing is easy about working on this thing. Any ideas or suggestions on how to get it out? I'd really appreciate some experience here. I've had my dyna for 5 years but this one is my son's. He's using mine to go to work on while I fix his and its been a nightmare! Help!!!!!
It's been awhile so no ideas now. I ride an Indian these days lol. Sorry brother.
Do you have an updated video showing how you mounted the controller? I’ve got a refresh 2022 1/2 ton LT and wanna add a BC
This is on a 22 refresh and I thought I showed what you need pretty well. What do you need help with?
@@garagehero1300 I was wondering where you physically mounted the controller so it was easy to access. I’m thinking under dash on right or left side, but don’t want my leg hitting it though either
@@Rustored I mounted it at the bottom below the radio and climate controls. It's where I can reach and see it down on my right.
You are doing it all wrong your Corner post are going to pull inwards . You have no h post
H posts went up after, it's not in the video.
Good stuff !
Hope you covered that roof back up..overspray is a bitch
Can OEM controller be installed instead of aftermarket one?
Sure, but I didn't want the oem controller. Also I think you have to get the truck programmed to work with it. This was the simplest solution.
@@garagehero1300 Thanks a lot. The reason I'm asking is where would an OEM be installed? From the video you made, looks like you have a 2022 refresh model. I can't see any spot for OEM controller.
Looks like the fence you demoed was parallel to the back of the house and was fairly level ground. How did you do the fence that comes out from the back of the house at a 90-degree angle? I'm wondering if that welded fence has enough flex to keep the vertical wires of the fence in alignment with the vertical posts? Or did you have to keep the fence square to the sloping ground and therefore the vertical lines of the fence don't line up with your psots. Thanks for any suggestions.
They don't line up on the slopes.
The far side went downhill. The posts were vertical so the wire did not li e up, but I don't think it matters. It looked good.
Ratchet straps.... my missing ingredient. Thank you!!
How much space did you do between poles?
8'
Great advice, thank you. I was getting everything together to do it where you use nuts and bolts to hold the boards together. Your way seems like it would be faster and less frustrating not having to deal with the nuts. I have several spots that need tightened.
Nice video... I'm planning on doing something similar... I will try my garden tractor to stretch the fence..
I am looking at a similar backyard fence, maybe 20’ x 30’ and will definitely copy your method. My question is if you did corner bracing? I am thinking it’s not really needed for such a short distance
No I didn't.
@@garagehero1300 thanks. Did you set the post in cement or do like a 3’ depth?
@@jrfireboy2 I did 2 foot depth and used expanding foam instead of concrete.
@@garagehero1300 oh man I was thinking about that for the corners! Did you do it in all of them? I think o saw in another video that you’re in WVa, I’m in VA and was concerned about depth but was thinking 2’ would be fine
@@jrfireboy2 I did it in all of them.
Drill 4 or 5 holes on the strainer and bolt it, clamped on much harder less chance of slippage, i use this same method but i tension with the tractor.
This is to say " HI " to the ( 3 ) owners of the " Acme Fence Stretching Company " .... !!!!
Thank you so much for making this video
This was SO helpful. Thank you!
Thank you, I had several small stretches to do around my chicken coop and this did the trick . Clamps were plenty strong enough to hold the boards without the wire moving
What staple gun did you use?
Just a cheap air powered one.
That's a nice looking bike
How’d this hold up...I notice you didn’t strip it way down like others I’ve seen? Looking good though!
Really helped. Was getting discouraged.
Good deal, glad I could help.
