stabilizer glitch effect (DaVinci Resolve)
Inspired by another video I tried locked camera stabilization on some of my clips to create kind of virtual tripod shots. I noticed that some of these clips exhibit this neat effect of the motion blur being locked in space. So here are two clips with more extreme movements to force more motion blur. Stabilizing these clips results in this quite trippy effect :)

Sony A7IV video Moiré pattern, ouch

Was shooting with the A7IV and noticed this really ugly Moiré pattern. Not much you can do about it and only shows up in certain situations, like these fine structured fabrics. hi Matthias, thank you for this. The output to send from your sound card is a mono audio right? thank you
Hey, my sound card has multiple stereo outputs but I can route them quite flexible. In this case I assign for example the tempo sync CV to the left channel and the pitch CV to the right channel. Hope that helps.
thank you for the answer Matthias ! i will be trying that 😀
Very nice indeed
We were able to fix a 7Q non plus for this video. Thank you very much!
That's great. Glad it was helpful.
Thank you for the video! What happen when battery will die? it is just relate to the store date and time when device is powered off? Thank you in advance
Yes, it’s mostly about resetting time when powered off. Some recording options, such as raw, might require properly set time.
@@bobtronic73 thank you
That Sony is NOISY 🤪🤣 … … (I know, it's a filter)
Really, really noisy I'd like to add :) Did the sound by yourself i guess? Me like.
@@grundgedankethanks. Sound is from UA-cam audio library.
Lol, thanks 😄
🎉😊
thank you. Interestingly my Volca Modular seems to need 1/8th notes to sync correctly
It’s a hail of a lot. Nice grading and footage.
Thank you1
that is a lot of hail!
a tiny bit, hahaha
Wicked footage! I'm looking at getting this camera, are you able to confirm does this shoot in Autofocus as well?
Hey, thanks for watching. Forget about autofocus on the F3. The Sony SCL-Z18X140 lens is the only lens that supported autofocus on the F3.
Man these are awesome shots!! Would you ever consider posting more F3 clips? I really like your clips!
Thanks man. I'll probably posting more stuff with the F35, which I prefer over the F3. I might take the F3 for some outdoor shooting as it is much lighter than the F35 :)
Fantastic video! Thanks so much!
Thank you! Glad it was helpful.
Do you use an on-camera flash? Please share your camera settings? What shutter speed do you set? Do you have only one light source, a soft box on top? I already wrote to you once, but I’ll say it again, you definitely have a vision for macro photography, your shots are very mesmerizing and this old camera adds its own charm
Thanks. I only used some cheap small no-name LED panel and softboxes.
❤F3 love forever jaws dropping images congrats! I’ve one 444 rgb version unit a beast
Thank you! F3 is a great camera .
I'm very interested in how to make this type of music especially with that specific type of Yamaha model
Thanks. It’s mostly down to experimentation and listening to references. A big part is the use of modulations, like envelopes and LFOs
@@bobtronic73 alright ty

hey this is just amazing, syncing my volca sample with midi and stuff was just so tedious, but with this i can just sync it with any device that plays the pulse loop. just sampled the click from the sync out and it works like magic, thank you so much !
Thanks for watching. I'm glad it was helpful.
Looks good, would love a f35. Been looking at the F55 have you used one?
Thanks for watching. I have not used the F55. Looks like a great camera though.
What's the f35 like to use?
@@r.hunter4426 It's a big heavy camera with a weird form factor. Also you can only record externally and for anything 444 or 50p frame rates you need dual-link SDI. The EVF is placed rather high which makes it less than ideal for shoulder rigs. But besides that it's easy to use. Most relevant settings can be changed without going into menus. Startup time is fast too. Power consumption is okish but still you can run quickly through batteries. The F55 is a way more convenient camera by all accounts. The image of the F35 is a beauty though.
Yeah it looks a big beast but the image is a beauty! Thanks 👍 Would be cool to say I own a camera that cost brand new $250,000 😂
ahahahaha bro you made damn good macro footage!! I’m now choosing between c70 and black magic, but when I saw how much this beast costs, I’m now really thinking why not try it! Are you using an external recorder?
Thanks for watching. I'm recording externally in S-Log, either using the Odyssey 7Q+ or the BMD Video Assist.
@@bobtronic73 Thank you! Video from 1080 is converted to 4k with crop?

Hi Matthias, I'm trying to setup my Korg Volca Modular on Ableton following your tutorial. I'm stuck on the sample, did you find the click sample somewhere or did you generated it? Thanks so much for your answare!
Hey Davide, thanks for watching. To answer your question, I sampled the click from the Sync Out of the Volca. In Ableton there is actually an even better way that I just learned the other day. There is a Live package called CV Tools that you can install for free and this offers CV clock generator which basically sends out generated clicks via the audio interface. I recommend to check these out.
@@bobtronic73 awesome dude, thank you so much for your advice and this tutorial! Again, thank you!
@@davidefromearth glad I could help
Fantastic! I’m currently eying one of these for a bargain. It’s slightly damaged but everything works fine. I have a question, though - it doesn’t have the RGB upgrade, and I’m trying to work out whether ALL Sony F3s have SLOG 10bit 422 when reordering to an external recorder? Or is this also an upgrade…? So confused! And there isn’t too much information out there regarding this that I can find. Thank you!
Hey, thanks for watching. Regarding your question, any F3 with the 1.45 firmware (which is a free upgrade) can record S-Log 10bit 422 to an external recorder. The S-Log is an option in the picture profile settings.
@@bobtronic73 Thank you for your quick and informative response :) I have been sent some pictures of the Sony F3. It has firmware version 1.4 and seems to have Slog also. Is there any chance I could get these pictures to you to have a look at before I purchase this camera? I just want to make sure I’m getting the correct version as it seems harder to find active firmware download links these days!
@@joshuahartwell9224 hey, I just checked the firmware manual, v1.4 seems to be ok for recording S-Log via picture profile. You can contact me through my e-mail in my profile or via instagram. Cheers
@@bobtronic73 Can you provide firmware manual, v1.4? Thank you for your help.
Thanks for the video. Gave me confidence to tackle mine. Did so just now successfully. Less than 5 min job. A little note to others trying this. The nut on the power socket may not release and twist the whole thing. Use a flathead screw driver to keep the inner part in position. Warning: careful not to push the screwdriver in too much as you may damage the contact pins.
Thanks dude this got me back up and running again after I thought I had bricked it.. 👍🙏
I attempted this today, did everything as shown and now my 7Q+ won't power up at all.. I'm so gutted. I shiuld have just ignored the message. Could it be the battery I used? If it can't see a battery then it won't power up is what I'm hoping so I'll try and change back to the original battery and cross my fingers... 😢
Oh no, sorry to hear about that. It’s a fairly easy procedure so I’m wondering what went wrong. Keeping fingers crossed that you get it to work.
I had a similar problem but if you go to the power socket and line the notch with your lead it should work. Use a flat head screwdriver but just twist at the top, don’t insert it fully to avoid damaging the pins.
@@Tony_BrookfieldMedia hey man what can I say! In the heat of me bricking it yesterday I didn't even think to look at the orientation of the notch in the power socket! That was it! All I did was Google an image of it showing the notch at 12 o clock. Turned it back (assuming it had turned when I tightened up the outer nut) and bingo, it powered up! Thank you so much for this! 🙏🙏🙏
@@winstonnugara5226glad it worked out 🎉
@@Tony_BrookfieldMediathanks for helping out ❤
Awesome. Thanks for uploading this, most useful !
I'm totally eyeing an F3 right now. The upscale from 1080p to 4k looks amazing! You you find it generally easy to upscale with great results?
4K upscale work fine. Just don't sharpen the footage in-camera.
And it proves that dof is independent from focal length as opposed to what most people think.
Did you use a LUT for this?
Thanks for watching. Yes, I used the Kodak film LUT in Davinci
@@bobtronic73 Is it the 2383 LUT?
@@kraftpunk6654 yeah, it's the 2383 LUT
I need assistance! I have a Q7 with SDI damage and believe I have identified the responsible resistors. To be certain and to determine the replacement parts I would need, it would be greatly appreciated if someone with a functioning device could measure the following resistors directly at the SDI outputs A and B: L602, R601, L601, R604, R603, R607. That would be great.
Sorry about the damage. Unfortunately I can't assist you there.
@@bobtronic73 As I mentioned, it's all about measuring the mentioned resistances so that I can determine which ones should be installed there. Is there anyone else who is currently changing their battery and can take a quick measurement?
@@deadendboredompossibly able to help you
@@RiderX424 I have by now found out that the components are not all resistors, and some of them cannot be measured easily. However, it would still be very helpful for me to learn the results of your measurements.
@@deadendboredom I’m no pro and my multimeter leads aren’t small but this what I could get: L602 nothing R601 Continuity read 0.2 ohms L601 nothing R604 Continuity read 0.1 ohms R603 75.1 ohms R607 75.2 ohms Hope it helps
Awesome! Just did the job. Wondering if you applied any more heat gunk on the little square thingy or left it as is?
I didn't apply new paste. I suppose that would be the proper way of doing it. But I haven't had any issues whatsoever after the reassembly and I had it run for hours since then.
Hello, maybe you can help me - where can i find and download odyssey7q+ built-in color profiles (i mean luts)
Afaik there are not available for download. Can't help you there unfortunately.
The first few shots/edits reminded me of the opening to Insomnia, and of course Inception vibes from the spinning coin. Inspired to go shoot some footage with the F3!
Thanks so much. Enjoy the F3!
Hi ! Nice video ! I can't remove the power connector... The screw thread is dead... Another way to change the battery ?
Hey, sorry, without removing the screw on the power connector this is going to be near impossible. You have to see if you somehow can (carefully) remove the screw.
I had this exact same situation, and solved it by doing something pretty stupid. I plugged in the power connector, then used pliers to hold the power connector in place while using a small wrench to unscrew the nut around it. It took a little bit of fiddling, and I was taking as much care as possible to not damage the power connector in the plier. Dumb, but it worked! YMMV.

Hi, Ive replaced my battery but I still have the warning '''LOW CLOCK BATTERY. !''. And I can't set the date and the time. I've tried 4 different batteries from 2 brands. Still nothing. Someone have an idea?

is the focus done automatically by the camera?
Hey, no, focus was pulled manually.
So this is only when in the Video modes? Not when using Slog modes?
Yes, exactly. In S-Log video mode white balance is fixed. You can toggle between 3200 and 5600K with the 5600K CC button.
Yes please, make a video on handling the S-log in Davinci from your F-3 🙏
After shooting in s-log go to Resolve, import clip and: - Project Settings - Color management tab - Change color science to "DaVinci YRGB Color Managed" - press save - go to clip you shot in s-log and right click -> Input color space -> S-Gamut/S-Log not s-log2 or s-log3, but s-log. Prepare to be a bit blown away after that. Works in free version and Studio as well.
