Beautiful video today my dear Bethoney . Your campfire had me reminiscing about the coming camp season. We love camping and having a campfire …so any excuse to have one is the way to go. A crisp cool evening , a cracking campfire a cup of hot chocolate and a sky full of twinkling stars ..what more can you ask for . Your little piece of paradise is so beautiful any time of year ! We love the plans for the shop..including your animated presentation. 😂 You are so comical. So glad you didn’t take the polar dip on your own. Take manfriend up on his offer to videotape you when you do decide, for safety sake . Lots of folks do that polar dip at a few of the beaches around the island ..Dominion beach is a popular spot . Glad you had a nice few days off and had time with your sweet little family. Your soup looked delicious . Hi Bethoney, I found your account after a trip I made with my husband to Cape Breton in the summer, and fell head over heels. I wanted to know what it must feel like living every day in a serenity while also adjusting to a whole new life. (I have so many questions haha like do you cut your own wood for the fire stove? :D ) I'm so glad I found your account, Bethoney, and to see your bravery and preserverence to live the life you have always dreamed of is such an inspiration ♡ I love seeing notifications of your new videos and always wait until I can hunker down in a cosy spot to watch them. Your videos bring me peace and comfort ♡ Your voice is calming and there's something so nostalgic with the way you record your videos and add text effects. I love it all and wouldn't change a thing! Thank you for sharing your life with us. I'm sorry about the water leak, when we first set up our little fish tank, I was very worried that there would be a leak and cause water damage. I found these nifty water leak alarms on Amazon. I've placed a few near my fish tank, under my sinks below the pipes, by the washing machine etc. It rings an alarm and can even send a notification to your phone as soon as it detects water on the surface :D Just thought I'd share if it could give you a little more peace of mind at night 😊

Oh ,my; when I read the title . I thought ,oh no not the loss of another pet! I was relieved it was not one of the fur babies …but wow , what a job to clean up after a pipe breaks !! It’s a good thing you and manfriend just automatically slip into your roles to clean up the problem and do it with almost no need for a lot of discussion. You are right about having a good man there. He seems to know just what needs to be gotten to fix any given problem… I am still amazed at the ram pump he designed ..- and built . Thank you for sharing todays ordeal with us …a problem aired is a problem shared …and although both of you clearly don’t need anyone’s assistance, you know if any of us lived closer we would be there to help you in a heartbeat!! Love your videos! When I moved into my cabin I had no electricity or insulation and of course my water froze! But now I am insulated and I have gravity water and let my water run all winter. It's a real learning curb! You will learn as you go. There is always going to be something... my hot water tank is now leaking but I hope it will last till spring. I am hoping to get a hot water on demand unit. I am 70 years old but wouldn't change my life style for any amount of money! It will get easier I promise! Hope your new year is filled with no problems!

Well, you're doing a lot better than me. 2 weeks ago I made a decision. I wasn't happy, so I quickly packed up. I moved my trailer to a friends and hit the road back to Ontario. I've been back for 9 days now. I'll go back to NB in early summer to sell everything that I have left there. Oscar wasn't happy there either, and I couldn't take seeing him like that. We've moved in with my mom, and will be here for the foreseeable future. Oscar couldn't be happier, he went bananas when he realized we were back at gramma's house. Far more mooching opportunities with gramma in the same house lol.

I loved this video Bethoney! We learn a little more about you with each video , and we get to see such beautiful views. I love the views from your property in the winter…that lovely white blanket of snow on the evergreens is just so beautiful! I loved seeing Tinks antics at the beginning of the video…she is so sweet…following you and racing right up the next tree! We grew up with an outhouse ..it was a very common thing in the 60’s where we lived. Our home didn’t have central heating either …but you know, as kids growing up , we were hardly ever sick . Life sure is different today …but you know…I miss those days. They were much simpler ,less complicated times!! You are living my dream sweet Bethoney . It’s why I love your videos so much …and the peace it gives you living a life in the wilderness . Close to nature , hiking in the solitude of the forest , seeing the wildlife , Joey, and the other critters you have named …it’s all so beautiful ! Warms my soul ! It was the Tillsonburg Retiree Christmas party today and Sandy Gergich went east with her two daughters last summer. I can't remember what town she was from. You and I visited the town last summer. Her and her husband, Frank, travelled there every summer to visit family. Her husband, Frank, passed away this year and two of her daughters decided to take Sandy east. She was telling me today that they went to Chetticamp and one of her daughters said: "I want to meet Boring Bethoney! Where does she live?" of course Sandy didn't know where you lived but hoped they would somehow meet up with you, while walking the streets in Chetticamp. I thought that was sweet and thought I should tell you. "Next year, Bev, you will have to tell me where she lives because we want to meet her" So sweet! Miss you! xoxoxo

Well now Bethoney…don’t you have that sourdough baking down to an art!! Way to go girl. I am learning about sourdough ..a close friend gifted me some starter, that she has had going for over 20 years…she’ is a phenomenal baker. So I have learned a lot from her .Now I have to do some experimenting with it to make other baked goods , besides bread ! I loved that the little stream is running again ..and the sanctuary is looking so beautiful …even with the leaves all gone. It’s just a special place ..and I can see why you love it so much . I took note of Tia ..and how she looked at you as you were about to exit the camper…it was like “come on mom, I’m waiting , let’s go”!! She is such a sweet pup. I can’t wait to see how the shop slowly becomes a “home” ! You have such beautiful surroundings there that the view from every direction is just gorgeous.! Once you have a nice white blanket of snow on everything , your land takes on yet another beautiful seasonal look. Especially the evergreens. I love snow on the spruce and pine trees …it makes up for the leaves being gone on the other trees ..and so winter is their time to shine!! Your bread looks awesome and I am getting hungry! I have an electric stove and a wood stove and a few years ago I tried a Coleman camping oven and it works well on top of the wood stove. I also get the Cheticamp (La Suete)wind also! I really hate those winds! Stay safe

It’s nice to have that big shipping container …and it will be housing manfriends work stuff , if I remember correctly ,you’re mentioning it a while ago. I feel so sorry for you losing your sweet Baby Cat. You gave her a life full of love and a happy home , so she was blessed to be your kitty for the time she was with you! You and manfriend had quite the ordeal getting your dock to its winter home! You both work so well together …and you accomplish much by doing so. I hope to see Joey do a fly by or two when I take Peanut to have his nails done ! I have been experimenting with sourdough too..actually had a friend walk me through the process . It’s quite a process to learn how to take care of your starter and keep it alive . My friends starter is very thick and she only uses whole wheat flour , so it was different learning how to work with it compared to the standard method for making sourdough bread! Hey Beth! I watched you stirring the sourdough starter with the handle of the wooden spoon. Why don't you use the Snurtle (sp ?) You know the wooden stirrer that we bought at that art place, (can't remember the name of the place) I use mine all the time! It works great on everything not just porridge.

WOW, I was not expecting that amazing of a view! The only way I'd be able to get up there is on an ATV. I'm WAY too out of shape to do that. I'd get winded just thinking about it lol. Yes, those rocks sure looked like ankle breakers! Very impressive climb Bethoney, you must have been exhausted by the time you got home. I bet you slept really well that night. How were your knees and other muscles feeling the next morning? I'd be crippled for the next 6 months, and that would have been if I did it in my 20's LOL. I still can't get over that view! It would be neat to go up there with a telescope and do some star gazing. I just wouldn't want to do that trail back down in the dark. Thank you for sharing, I hope you weren't too sore the next day. :)

Oh wow, you guys did an amazing job skirting your trailer! That's how I want to do it next year, get it all framed in properly like yours. For this winter, I'm just kind of slapping it on there to get it enclosed. No framing, just expanding foam to attach the foam board to the trailer, and the ground. I can't believe you gave me this amazing tour AND a shout out! I'm happy you wore orange, had your bear bells, and you had your tea in a thermos instead of making it. I prayed for you that morning that God would keep you safe and my prayers were answered. The view was incredible and all I could think of was "How Great thou Art" God's creation! Beautiful!
