What was the issue? What failed?
DEF *sensorr?*
Yes sir
Had Semi- trucks put out of service by DOT because these brakesweren't adjusted properly the gap was great between the brakes and the brake drums.
Too much!
Some body needs a wheel seal 👀

1/4 back turn is all we do at our carrier hub shop. You are allowed in between a certian spec for DOT inspections.
7 1/6 is also 11mm fyi
7/16 is a tad bit bigger than a 11mm fyi
Wait so with those white clips for the def lines do you just pinch them together to release them and take the line off? I work on semis but it’s for a wrecking yard so all we do is take them apart and I always just used a pick to take the clips off but was always wondering the right way to do it so I could do it faster.
Yes pinching them together while pulling up will remove the lines easily with no picks needed and also get you a 3/8 plug to plug the coolant lines to avoid having to do the coolant flush and refill save you a lot of time
Where do you get the coolant line plugs?
@@kyleself7484they can be found at a hardware store…ace hardware, Lowe’s, Home Depot etc really handy in the mechanic field get extra to store
Flint stone brakes yabadaba-doo
You're legal until 2.5
How would you tell if a semi tractor comes with automatic slack adjusters?
In the book it says that all airbrake systems atleast on tractor trailers since 1994 have automatic slack adjusters. That being said. Im 99% certain that this guy here has an automatic slack adjuster.
Section 5.3.2 of the "Texas commercial motor vehicle Drivers Handbook"
Another way is by looking at the back of the slack adjuster automatic slack adjusters such as this one does not have a nipple you have to pull out to adjust the brakes…manual adjustment slack adjusters have a nipple you have to pull out to adjust the brakes
wheel seal need to be replaced
Are you releasing the adjuster ratchet? If not, you are ruining the adjuster. That's why you have to manually adjust them.
11mm socket
What's all that oil all over the brakes.. doesn't look like grease
Bad wheel seal and that requires new brakes if they get hub oil in them
Great video 🤝🏾
DEF fluid is a waste
I’m with you on that it can be removed just another expense
Say something lol
Initial brake adjustment 1/2 turn . If you have to adjust the brakes any other time your ASA ( automatic slack adjuster ) is worn out .
I agree steer brakes 3/4
True but not all rigs and trailers have ASA or not greased properly and stuck. Still good to teach the new drivers in case they need to adjust them which in our field is a must know.
Never just guess, this is a guess
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yea, now the way you just tighten them will be riding the 💩 out of that drum. Wth
Half a turn out at best man you have way too large a gap. 1/4 turn to half turn at most.
Having same issue on series 60 14L; how do you know it just isn’t the gasket that needs to be changed? I only purchased gasket, thinking that all that needed to Be changed. Haven’t done the job yet.
Due to the actual filler tube being cracked and gasket ripped it was time sorry for the late response
That sound when you turned the wrench means you never released the air brake…
Wrong, that style slack adjuster always clicks when you are backing the brakes off. Dumbass
@@Nothingmore71 you could’ve said so without the “dumbass” you asshole
No, it means he has an auto slack adjuster 🙂
@@tonyh7119See I didn’t know that it had an auto slack adjuster !! I’m here to learn . Thanks for the polite response 😊
3/4 is too much and never in my life heard of that. Also, you never showed releasing brakes. Do you know what you’re doing bubs?
If he didn’t release the brakes he wouldn’t have been able to turn the adjuster…. Do you know what’s you’re doing bub?
@@Nothingmore71 yes, maybe we have a communication problem. You need to release the brakes and that means putting air to them. Got it? Then as you stated you can turn till your fragile heart desires. 3/4 is too much bud. Never heard of that and probably won’t ever again beyond this video. Wait, your statement assumes he released the brakes already and as soneone trying to make a video on adjusting the brakes the dummy left out a crucial peice. You assumed people know this and by that assumption I assume your a simple minded grease ball. About right?
@@teamdada2194yes he should mention that you need to push in (release) the brakes ,if I'm correct here
@@darklight4815 yes you are correct. People making videos need to get their stuff together. After rewatching the video I’ve come to the conclusion this guy needs to stop making instructional videos. Also, most of the commentors are mentally challenged.
@@teamdada2194 Roger that 👍😊
They say 1/4-1/2. Never heard of 3/4 and by the looks of it thats too much.
It's 9/16
Can be 5/16square 7/16 or 9/16
Ed you are wrong🤦♂️
you let her go too much
