Every chemistry class and test would scare me when I was in class 11 and 12. The thing is, I never understood what was being taught! I was left with more questions than answers after each class.
While I was doing my BSc in Chemistry, it all magically made more sense and I then proceeded to do my MSc in organic chemistry. Came a long way from a student who detested chemistry to a person who fell in love with it!
Over time, I have realised what changed was the approach and the time I was able to give to the subject. As students especially in classes 11 and 12, its more about how much you score and I can't blame you for not giving more time to the subject.
This channel is here to help you understand things from the basics and hopefully make chemistry easy to learn!
Right now, content for classes 11 and 12 CBSE is being created! (Hopefully will do more)
Feel free to reach out if you have any queries.
Remember to always understand the basics!

Hydrolysis of Salts and the pH of their Solutions -Equilibrium
Acid and base react together to form salt and water. This reaction is well known and is called neutralisation.
When the salt is dissolved in water, the solution can either be acidic, basic or neutral. This is because of a process called hydrolysis, which basically is an interaction of cations and anions with water molecule. The interaction is not observed in the case of strong anions and cations.
The pH of the salt solution depends on the relative strengths of acids and bases determine if the solution of the salt formed is acidic or basic.
Essentially:
1. Strong acid + Strong base: Salt solution of this is neutral
2. Strong acid + Weak base: Salt solution of this is acidic
3. Weak acid + Strong base: Salt solution of this is basic
4. Weak acid + Weak base: Based on the relative strength of acid and base, the salt solution is either acidic or basic
As always, reach out if you have any questions or if you need help with a specific topic!
Also, so happy to be back and I really hope you find the content in this channel helpful.

Common Ion Effect -Equilibrium
Переглядів 12Місяць тому
The words Common Ion Effect is pretty self explanatory. When a common ion is added to an aqueous solution of an acid/base, it pushes the equilibrium towards undissociated acid/base. When we have salts, this could lead to precipitation of the different salts. The paper about applications of common ion effect can be found here: www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=www.jchemle...

Elimination Reaction- Haloalkanes and Haloarenes
Переглядів 305 місяців тому
Elimination reactions of haloalkanes lead to the formation of an alkene. This is called dehydrohalogenation. We also discuss the Saytzeff rule which decides the major product when we have more than one type of beta hydrogen. All of this ends with the riveting conversation of whether a haloalkane will undergo a substitution or elimination reaction. All of this makes sense in the video, I promise...
Configuration of SN1 and SN2 - Haloalkanes and Haloarenes

SN1 reaction leads to the formation of a racemic mixture. SN2 reaction leads to the inversion of configuration. This is all due to the mechanism of the reactions. Check out the video and all of this makes perfect sense! Enantiomers, Diasteromers & Racemic Mixtures - Haloalkanes and Haloarenes
Переглядів 325 місяців тому
A chiral carbon is attached to four different substituents. The molecule is said to be chiral when it has a chiral carbon and is optically active. Enantiomers are stereoisomers which are non-superimposable mirror images. Diastereomers are non-superimposable non-mirror images. Enantiomers have the same chemical and physical properties except for the optical rotation. So one enantiomer might rota...

A chiral carbon is attached to four different substituents. The molecule is said to be chiral when it has a chiral carbon and is optically active. A plane of symmetry divides a molecule into two equal parts. Usually, when a molecule is chiral, it does not have a plane of symmetry and if it is achiral it has a plane of symmetry. A chiral carbon is attached to four different substituents. The molecule is said to be chiral when it has a chiral carbon and is optically active. An optically active molecule can rotate the plane of polarised light. We can figure out a molecule is optically active: 1. Figuring out if it has a chiral carbon 2. Drawing its structure to figure out if the mirror image is non-superimposable. Topicw...

Factors Affecting Acidic Strength - Equilibrium
Переглядів 126 місяців тому
Till now we have talked about some acids being strong and others weak. What is the reason they differ in terms of acidic strength? This has to do with the nature of the H-A bond: 1. Strength of the bond: A weaker bond requires less energy to break 2. Polarity of the bond: When the electronegativity between atoms is really high it is easier to break the bond. The strength of hydro acid across th...
