@@jimnewearthblues1672 🙏 thanks
Just one tip, usually these kind of paints are not petrol resistant. I recently pin striped a royal enfield tank for the first time and guess how i learned this lesson..
@@vintagebike_ger I have a plan as I was aware about the petrol problem - the next video I will be fitting the water slide logos then I have a plan for making these and the pinstriping petrol proof hope you come back to see 👍
@@hilbilchillbil 👍
I was looking at pin stripe kits (?) The tape has precut parts you peel out to give the stripe. Ok for straight lines, like my mudguard but I'd imagine, no good for going around curves. Nice job. And nobody will see the mistakes when you're flying by at a ton 😉👍
@@750triton my problem was the tape is wide and not very flexible I think if I had bought 3m tape it may have been better but my search didn’t find 8mm by them. It was easier than I imagined but my expectations were low 🤔 so I guess I was presently surprised - have a go you can always wipe it off - if I can do the tin on the Velo I will be very happy 👍
Bloody hell !!!,for a first try , well done 👏 . Excellent job 👍. You've got some lovely bikes in your garage......bastard 😁. Peace out ✌️
@@andrewbull3537 thanks I did take my time and did some prep but very happy with the end result - hope to have both the Velo and Rudge done for April - better not tell you what the next build is then 🤔🙈😀 🙏
@@hilbilchillbil, if it's a vincent black shadow or an old pre unit triumph I'll be as jealous as f*ck 😁....but then again ...just do a good job 👍. Peace out ✌️
@ your safe with the Vincent don’t worry always plan to do it to the best I can 👍
Goose bumps!
@@carlnapp4412 I know what you mean 😀
The ride is named after Bob Foster? What a capital idea! Greetings from Germany. Cheers!
@@carlnapp4412 wish he was still about to see it thanks for the comment hope you check out my Velocette build 😀🙏
Can the organisers have a word with the weather prior to next year’s run? I had a wonderful day riding with fellow Velo owners….. just did not appreciate the dampness!
Hi Mike it’s the second year I have attended with the same dismal weather so I am sure 25 it’s due for a change fingers crossed 👍
This was my first run. 🫰for next year!
@@mikedavis6795 The Bob Foster is very late in the year - have you considered the Giant run organised with the Dorset branch of the VMCC or the Graham Walker run ? these are well worth an entry. Hopefully we will meet up when my Velo is finished next year 👍
I’m in the South Dorset VMCC so Giants Run is on the cards - good links with the Dorset VMCC.
@@mikedavis6795 Paul Miles is part of the organising team very good event but super popular so it get sold out quick hope to see you there next year 👍

Love to know what you decide to do with the petrol tank!
@@hilarykeeping2733 I will include a bit of footage of what I ended up doing thanks 🙏
Nice work. Always so much more work involved in restoring a motorcycle that nobody would believe when they look at the finished job.
@@velofan. this is the second time I have carried additional work on this bike so I must be a sucker for punishment 😀
The reason you struggle to get the wheel out is that the original rear guard was in two pieces and had three small screws holding the two bits together just above the rear number plate, yours looks miles better and will not rattle thouigh
@@nortoninter1 it’s the trouble I have caused myself to get the look I wanted small price to pay IMO, thanks for your comment next episode will be out next Sunday 👍

Yes it’s a great event so many cool old bikes 👍
Nice start up.
Thanks such a great event if you like old bikes 👍
I wondered what mysterious machine tool that would be in the background on the wall. Then I realised it's a lawnmower.
I am supplied I haven’t had to to modify that yet 🤔😂

@@jimnewearthblues1672 thanks 🙏
I used a hacksaw to start the cross hatching, then made them deeper with a three square file.
@@750triton I actually used a rotary burr and a straight edge clamped on with a small G clamp dragged it down the edge then moved to the next position the foot plate has a crown so I didn’t want to use a milling machine and it isn’t that thick so there not that deep 👍
@@hilbilchillbil They'll be straighter than mine too lol
V blocks, I've got a pair the same with my itc clock no. 64
V Blocks thanks I couldn't remember the name....... 👍
Good stuff. Another job well progressed.
Thanks next video out Sunday
Just worked out your comment - bush in the brake arm ok maybe I have still to put a grease nipple on the arm it’s a fairly long pin surface so I think it will be ok sans bush but let’s see 🙏
i'd of put in a bush. 6pm on a Bank Holiday Sunday; i'm not drinking tea. All good stuff and promotes higher standards in garagistas, thank you.

You need to improve the sound as I personally cannot hear much, if anything that you are saying!
Hi Peter ok noted but you can always turn up the volume your end 👍
@@hilbilchillbil Already at maximum unfortunately...
@@PeterPares ok something to look at my end for future videos 👍
Good stuff. Mistakes and oversights? Nah, the best way to avoid mistakes is to never do anything. But there may be a downside. Keep going and ignore any and all glass half empty critics. Andy. Ps who did the Rudge porting please.
@@2639263926392639 thanks never trying to upset the purists but building something I like 👍 the Rudge is taking a bit of a back seat as the Velo has pushed into first place… the head porting and most of the head work was done by Andy Savage
So great to see that generator head! One of my fave Triumphs but I would want a seat that I can slide back n forth on haha! 😊
Thanks it’s for sale if you know anyone 😀
Hi, Velo clutches are the thing! The flange has to be done up tight and locked and the castellated nut is adjusted after the cable is installed as all clutch adjustments are then done on the clutch and not on the cable once the cable is set to be not applying any pressure on the release bearing. It does look as if the castellated nut is too tight and it can be adjusted with the sprocket on and a 1/4" rod with a 1/8" flat ground on it and put through one of the sprockets three holes and the sprocket turned. Good luck.
Thanks for the advice it’s certainly going to need some adjustment so some fun times ahead, but that’s why I love old bikes always something to learn and understand. Hope your stick with the series to watch the build progress 👍

Thank you Sir much appreciate the tipping of your hat 👍😀 next episode we’re going to get the bike outside and have a walk around ready for welding up of the new frame 👍
