Coleman Beach Shade setup in the wind (review)
Переглядів 25 тис.9 років тому
We took this to Hilton Head Island and set it up on the beach. Was a windy day but it held up, even through a major thunderstorm that came up about 30 mins after this video was shot. Sealed our gear up in the tent and left it on the beach during the storm (we sought shelter due to the lightning). Came back 30-45 mins later and it was still there as if nothing had happened. I mostly cook outside so it's not a problem. But when I do cook inside, the front bunk is usually down.

      @@UhaulCamperFun it’s not gonna leak? And there’s a problem if I let the can on the stove?

    • @UhaulCamperFun
      @UhaulCamperFun 2 місяці тому

      No. It's pressurized seal like a spray paint can. So when you put it in the stove and push the lever it applies pressure. When you release the lever and pressure it allows the can to close. If the valve on the can is damaged, then you would hear/smell gas leaking out and you should dispose of the can as it is malfunctioning.

    I've been looking at camping stoves and I'm leaning towards the butane stove simply because it's a little more compact than the propane units, plus you don't have that 5 lb canister rolling around next to the stove so it's more stable in more circumstances if you can't cook on a picnic table for every meal.

    You would be better off buying a double burner stove with hose and regulater and run 907 or butane cylinder from calor or you can run propane cylinder these butane can stoves are rubish

      We don't have AC yet, I hope to install one in the front cubby near the door under the lower bunk but will have to cut port holes for venting.

    • @leem200
      @leem200 Рік тому

      @@UhaulCamperFun Yes we have several options. There is a middle to the back window on ours, So, thinking of installing it with a wood buildout box so it screws together, and a support behind the wheel holder. Our book original book says to install on back side by door window. Also, thought about the lower bunk area too. I do not want to put holes in the trailer though and it would have to be if we put it there. If I put it in back window it will work without adding fans, or holes. I would still have two side areas on same window. We have no choice but to get ac, we do southern states allot. Live in Florida. My husband will build the box and I would paint it white to match camper since we have to do fiberglass repair and paint her anyway. So would fiberglass it to match. Then it would not be permanent, and I'd keep the middle section so if someone else gets it they have the option. Or if we camp in fall or winter, we just remove the ac and put plexiglass back. If you put it under side compartment it you will have to put drain in, and fans, two holes at least in her side or bottom floor. Ac will not work efficiently keeping her cool.

    • @UhaulCamperFun
      @UhaulCamperFun Рік тому

      Yep I've been looking at building a drain pan to drain through floor and custom build fan/porthole to pull in air from side and vent out through the floor. Also thought about designing a ducted mini split option where I would put internal handler in the cubby under bunk next to the stove area. And have a vent from that compartment and another run under the counter to the rear area. But haven't been able to find something small enough and affordable.

    Thanks for this review! I also am looking for a cheap and ez to use backup basically for if the power goes out for long… In FL we have so dang many hurricanes that Inhave decided I need to be prepared beforeee it happens. Thank u for the very detailed review. I do have one question if you could answer or anyone could answer it for me. I have looked at lots of Japanese ones like this that have lots higher btu and have read tons of reviews that say the Coleman has some trouble cooking thru on meats like thick steaks and thick burgers… Is that true? Or had anyone has these problems or was that just a few people out the many??? Thanks agn for ur review and any help ahead of time!!! ;) Safe and Happy Travels & Grilling!
