Online webinar: Understanding Your Consumer Rights
Some months ago we brought my 97 year old mother to the Montreal General Emergency Department because she was experiencing a tightness in her chest, difficulty breathing and stomach pain. My mother always had fear of going to the hospital so she asked Dr. Mitch Shulman, the attending doctor, if she would need to be admitted or if she would be able to go home after tests were done. What was already a frightening and stressful experience was made so much worse due to his cold, sarcastic, impatient response. Inexplicably, he appeared to feel insulted by the question. I don’t remember his exact words but my brother and I will never forget his unfriendly response. Our mother died not long after that ugly encounter, from two very large cancerous tumours, one in her chest and one in her stomach, which Dr. Shulman had failed to detect. Maybe, Dr. Shulman, you should spend less time on your celebrity pursuits such as your radio gigs, newspaper columns, etc. and more time learning how to be patient and kind to vulnerable people.
Go, Grannies, go! Together we are strong!
