Thanks for dropping in. You'll find mostly cycling stuff here as that's what changed my life! Over about 14 months I dropped nearly 100 lbs. I do lot's of group rides here in Tulsa, Oklahoma and am looking forward to racing next season. I look forward to sharing my experience and possibly inspiring you to take on a challenge of your own!
Gateway 2024 Cat 3/4 Day 1
Day 1 of the 2024 Gateway Cup! Was feeling really good, the field stayed together...the course is not conducive to a breakaway. Near the end sprung a leak in my rear wheel....it did seal up and I thought I could finish. However after a few laps I felt just enough give in a couple of corners that It didn't feel safe to fight for the front of the bubble. It was too late to pit and I was unsure how they would handle the situation. Being that I could ride the bike, but the tire was soft. Turns out I could have pitted immediatly once it happened even though it sealed upl Now I know!

Gateway 2024 Cat 3/4 Day 2

Felt really good again today. Another course that is prone to the field staying together. In the end, I didn't push hard enough to get to the front in time. I'm finding out that in these bigger races, I don't have the drive to get into the MIX in those final laps for a top 10 or podium spot. Whether I could do it or not hasn't been the question, it's been the motivation to keep my skin and bike...

The third day is called The Hill, it's set in the Italian district of St Louis and it's pretty cool! The course features are it's TIGHT and has a hill...go figure. The hill is a very manageable consistent climb, but wears on your each lap. Legs were feeling even better today on day 3. Managed to squeeze my way up a little closer in the bubble this race, but was not going to push it on this tigh...

Ok let's get straight to it, this was probably one of the hardest crits I've done. It's probably harder than Cry Baby Hill ,but only because you don't have the people cheering you on! The hill isn't as had, but it's longer and just wears on you. Because it wasn't super steep, the speeds were high and lap after lap the front of the race just kept pushing. I ended up getting popped off and nearly...

Went over to Arkansas for the last Natural State Crit Series. Fun race. Wish I would have done several things differently. Keep learning and reading the fields!

Jumped into the A race right after my B race. Legs felt really good, nice and warmed up :) Didn't think I'd be competitive for a sprint or break so I was using this field/race as a learning experience to watch others, and race with faster/better fields. My camera quit in the second to last lap, which also happened to be a $1,500 PRIME! The race got super fast a wee bit sketchy and then as my ca...

Day 2 of Tulsa Tough Cat 3. Raced the category 4's last year and got second place. Had hopes to at least contend in a sprint finish. The heat index was 106. My old legs take too long to show up...got shuffled to the back even with a good starting position. From there it was really surgey and difficult to find shelter. There was a strong headwind on the downhill section so no recovery there eith...

Day 3 of Tulsa Tough. First year in the Cat 3 omnium. I'm one of the oldest in the group at 51. No reason I'm in this field other than wanting to finish today. I'll be in the masters field next year...but wanted to give the Cat 3 field a go, since it's my first year. That being said my old legs take a bit longer to start up...so I didn't go to the coral an hour prior to race and stand. I warmed...

First time racing Tulsa Tough as a Cat III and getting to race Friday Night! I def raced this race cautiously and paid the price for it. It was tough and surgey where I kept finding myself. I typically like to be in the top 10-15 max, so much smoother and consitent. Stayed out of several crashes, that always happen on Friday night at TT. Had to chase back on with the last crash with 4 to go...u...
Built To Last Crit (Cat 3/4) So Many Attacks!

A windy and chilly October day. The course had two small punchy climbs and some fast flowy pavement! This field was motivated from the start! Lots of attacks and counter moves, did any stick, did we get a podium, watch as the action never stops! Hope you enjoy. STRAVA: www.strava.com/athletes/45042827

Last week I lead the field so this week I wanted to work on working through the field. The steps were optional and I didn't want to do them...I ended up losing a few bike lengths just about every time!

GENIUS!
One would be hard pressed to design a more dangerous activity than amateur criterium racing.
Those damn painted lines
close one at the end
Came up with that same hack, and popped a carabiner on top of the wire to the headrest for easy access!
Kudos from a 52-year-old Cat. 3. I raced Tulsa in 2019 when a 3 could do Masters A's, but only Saturday and Sunday. That was a hoot. Y'all really have something special there in Tulsa.
Thanks man! As a 51 year old myself, it was all I could handle this year! Fun to push myself against 15-22 year olds and beat some of them! I plan to do Masters B on the weekend and Cat3 Friday next year. Thanks for watching.
Good Job Trey!
Good 👍 👍 job last 3 days brother see you next year in June 7 2025
Good work!
Not my best angle…
lol....auto selected. I'll be changing thumbs tonight!
Great video!
had to go thru 8 vids to find this vs the latch add on or drilling
Talking about how hard it is to get to or show the patch after it is released doesn't help
Those hills must've taken the spring out of the group.
I think it was more the wind on the last leg, before the start/finish climb, a steady 15-18 with higher gusts I think. Both hills were fairly short and punchy....but def took it's toll. It was a fun course!

Criteriums are like a bad joke and easy way to get injured.. You take 50+ riders, put them a narrow space, going 20-40mph,and then you let them push and shove. Next thing you have bike parts, water bottles, whole bikes, and bleeding cyclists. How does that make sense?
First was on purpose..Inside rider leaned in with his shoulder..second one was rider avoiding a rider already down..third one was inside rider leaning and pushing, trying to shove him off the road..
those are some gnarly crashes
I like how they all bridged after the 1st break was basically caught
Looks like you barely missed a crash at the finish! Whew that was close. Good race.
Yea I think he unclipped in his sprint...we didn't touch until his weight shifted into my direction....we weren't rubbing or anything. Clean by both of us...just unfortunate...ugh. I think he broke his wrist...but not collar bone. Hope he heals quickly..he's from OKC, somewhat local to our race scene.
Didn’t un clip, guy that got second deviated 5 feet to my side and pushed the guy next to him and me which was the guy who ended up getting 3rd into my handlebars! Broke my wrist and getting surgery thanks to that idiot that can’t keep a clean line in a sprint 🤦🏻♂️
I remember seeing you down at the line thinking how bad that sucks, going down like that on day one. Hoping for a speedy recovery 💪
@@becerra2293 geez....I hate that. I hate it even worse that it was someone else stupid decision. Hope all heals well and quick man!
Per usual
Hmmm
That was me with the white bike in the air :/
... Everything was a blur of chaos.
Damn I was hoping you’d have the 4/5 crash
Oh man, hate crashes...hope you're ok!
Not sure if the rear camera was still going or not. I hope everyone heals up quick on that one ...ugh.
@@TreyCoursey hopefully someone has it. Backseat driver on that one. But escaped with some good road rash, sprained ac joint, and a pretty mangled bike.
if you cant fucking bike get off the damn road
Phenomenal view!
That guy that could not clip in would be me 🙂
Nice racing - that one was HARD. Did you upgrade yet? Hoping we’ll both be racing on Friday next year 🙌🏼
Not yet, waiting for mandatory points....will see how the second half of the season goes. Should happen, and yes Friday night next year baby!
Winning is such a great feeling, until you upgrade.
Hell yea
108 in the Cat4? That's wild and awesome
Yea Tulsa Tough always sells out in just about every category other than Masters B, Juniors and 5's. I'm not sure there were 100+ lined up...but big race either way! I was pumped!
Amazing patience there! Way to go!
Next level on this video!
Great race and super cool video!
Some of the smartest racing I've seen in a Cat 4 race in a very long time. Being patient, moving up without wasting energy, taking good lines the whole race. Pretty impressive racing IMO
Thanks Joe! Really appreciate it. I feel I've progressed during the first part of the season...looking forward to the second half!
Congrats Trey! Patience paid off. I really liked the editing for this, splicing in shots from the live stream. That wreck early in corner one though, ugh. That kid was down a while.
Thanks, I felt really good, mainly because I wasn't chasing things down and being patient...thought we went too early in the last corner, but so glad I did...because that was the ticket! I was taking that corner better than many and making up spots the entire race on the outside line....I hesitated just a moment if you see, but then pulled the trigger and decided to SEND IT in the true nature of the Tulsa Tough title this year!
@@TreyCoursey That outside line can be a gamble. Good way to move up if it's open, but if someone wipes out inside of you, they could slide right into you. It worked really well the whole race though. Well played!
@@jph1200 oh for sure...I totally agree. I can't control it, but I def keep an eye for things like that...If I began to feel people were coming up and making it sketchy I would have def played it differently. For the most part it was fast enough we kept it fairly strung out, or at min didn't have dive bombers wanting to take it faster....saw a bad crash in the masters race from a ridiculous dive bomb!
Yup, that was me that went down corner 1. I was on outside line, guy off my left shoulder (on inside line) changed his line right into me, forced me wider. Risk of taking the outside line!
Good job Trey! Congrats! Isaiah with the 300 meter sprint 😅
Yea no kidding right! I thought it was too early but my gut said go with him, if he bombs out he will take me half way...but he held it up and gave me a nice lead out!
Please tell me it was at least raining
it was every day
I didn't like wet roads either. After the first big wreck I was a solid nope. Good luck at Tulsa Tough!! Riding real strong at the right time of the season.
Thanks JP! Looking forward to keeping the rubber side down and giving it my all, see where that gets us! Thanks for watching.
This was great. Thank you for editing it. Wish I could hit love and not just the like button.
wow, thanks! Really appreciate it!
I also noticed that you use more clones in Modeler, I normally use more instances in Layout to clone almost everything.
Great video, to fast but it's ok.
You roadies are weird
Yeah now I know for sure that I cannot pedal through that corner at that speed 😬
lol...yep. Glad you didn't go down.
Cat 5?
Surprisingly this was the 4's! I can't remember if it was a 4/5 or just 4's. lol
Nicely done!
700 watts!!!!
That corner at 5:30 was real fun
um...no I bet it wasn't! lol.Todd certainly wasn't amused :) Notice I moved up...lol. I'm not going to be behind that! lol.
At 37:00 there's a wreck. It happened so fast I would have missed it if not for all the sudden yelling going on in the distance Hope they were ok.
They were ok, no issues with bike or limb. Just unfortunate to have happened the way it did.
Thank you for sharing these. I'm getting to see this style of riding through your videos. It's so suspenseful cause your going so fast. And I'm watching the tires of the people around you, thinking. How do they put that much trust in each other to not suddenly crazy swerve and wreck everyone. So much confidence in yourself and the ones around you. It's intense to watch. I enjoy it.
You nailed it...trust. And when that trust is broken, it can sometimes lead to issues! Thanks for watching I appreciate it.
