Actually ancients are two large shards of the broken mook (Arc Warden being the third) and as they fell down, they corrupted every minor being and attracted heroes to fight for them. Also, each game of Dota is actuallly cannon, cause every time one of the ancients loses it rewinds the time, so all heroes are stuck in infinite war loop.

dota 2 stopped existing once patch 7.00 hit back in 2016. now it's a league of legends and heroes of the storm clone. I would love to play dota 2 again but it no longer exists, even dota 1 got the dummy league features backported
