we were running the starvey stage starting at tynwald hill. had an issue with the drivers wanting to fit better wet tyres before they would start the stage.

Is that Mouton and Fabritzia singing on the introduction.. Definitely 1985 not 84 .... Mouton/Pons wasn't entered on the Welsh 84..... I've got some great photos of this event.. I remember being an apprentice mechanic at the RS dealer I worked at watching this and other BHP FORD films in the paint shop spray booth at dinner times, they were on film rolls and a projector.....

Love the sound of those BDAs....v8 rover too...although modern cars are possibly faster . They just don't have that X factor ...

TR7 V8 was a great tarmac rally car and with the great Tony Pond behind the wheel they were almost unbeatable. A shame they didn’t campaign the car for longer.

Thanks for sharing. This was the first rally I attended, the first rally car I saw in anger was Stig Blomqvist's Quattro, blasting up the old military road on the Rest and be Thankful stage (the hairpin bend early in the video). Absolutely jaw dropping moment!

I spectated on this rally, Glentrool and Blairadam stages. Had Andy Dawson behind me on a road section, what a racket when he went past, that Datsun sounded lovely.

Frustrated by all the coverage of years the Walter Rohl ran the RAC, how little he is shown in these videos. One reason being he isn't British, but the other reason is how clean he drives, so he's not that spectactular to watch, just bloody fast..
