Three and four body lepton and lepton-hadron states: 18 November 2022
Speaker: Muhammad Jamil Aslam
Bio: I am working as a Professor of Physics at the Department of Physics, QAU, and as a visiting Professor at the University of Alberta. My research interests include Flavor Physics in and beyond the SM, Exotic states in the quark and lepton sectors.
With Profs. Fayyazuddin and Late Riazuddin, I have co-authored a book, A monograph on the theory of relativity, published by World Scientific Singapore. Together with Prof. Fayyazuddin, I have recently edited the Memoirs of Riazuddin, A physicists Journey, which is published by the Oxford University Press.
Abstract: Quantum Mechanics is at the very core of fundamental physics. In this talk, I will briefly discuss the Quantum mechanical methods used to calculate the properties of more than two-body systems. I will also describe quite a simple technique one can use to calculate the decay rates of these states.

Avoiding accidents increases the cost of installation as well as of electricity production. In a...
Bound muon decay: A Harbinger for the New Physics: 20 Jan 2022

Speaker: Dr. M. Jamil Aslam Abstract: When a muon bound in an atom decays, there is a small probability that the daughter electron remains bound. That probability is evaluated. Surprisingly, a significant part of the rate is contributed by the negative energy component of the wave function. In this talk, I will explain how one can calculate this probability and also compare our result with the ...

How do you know that you get a single photon rather a single group of photons. These groups may be entangled with another group of photons, just like a single photon may be entangled with another photon. You have not showed it in this video I believe. You said, at about 12:30, that to get a single photon from a single atom would be very sophisticated experiment. But this is not what you are doing here. Maybe for your purpose you can think of this group of photons as a single photon but you're not operating on single photons. Right?

There are some professors who speak in the lowest volume when a sentence is about to end and people like me can't get the last few words, that makes it difficult for us to understand.

17:37 we have lattice points (Bravias R=n1*a1 + n2*a2) and a Basis consisting of two atoms. now, fast-forward to BCC, 21:18, it seams you change the definition of a lattice because you allow rational number coordinates. this is very confusing.

22:45 for the centred rectangular, can you get the location of the atom in the corner with integer n1 and n2? i think a2 should run at 45 degrees. just as it's done in 3D @ 55:53
