If you use the vacuum method, you can do this yourself in 2 minutes. That way she can stay in the house focused on cleaning, dishes, laundry, cooking...etc...
Plan on replacing both heads a new set of pistons and cylinders wouldn’t hurt to have to polish the cranks out if you’re gonna put on new bearings so the micro crew hold the oil in place but breaking in oh yeah make sure you put in fresh oil it’s not rocket science! When I get the engine apart and diagnose all the stuff that needs to be replaced and get the new parts, stair hot dip, the sheet metal and repaint it. It’s only three hours to have it put back together and running and out the door. I rebuilt many air cooled Volkswagen engines. Formula V enthusiast in SCCA in early 70’s.
@@BajaShine already done. The only thing holding me up is the new rod bushings are too tight to easily slide the wrist pins through without major honing. The originals are worn into the copper (for obvious reasons) but the new wrist pins fit those bushings fine. I can't get the new wrist pins to fit into the new bushings without honing them into the copper either. I just ordered another set of bushings but If my new set of bushings are still too tight then I guess I'll just have to press the old bushings back in because what difference does it make at that point? Once I fix this bushing/wrist pin issue, that engine will be back together and installed in no time.
You guys are guessing, I can diagnose a car problem from the other side of the world, can I safely assume you don’t know what you’re doing to start with? Engines only work one way if you work with that theory he’ll never make a mistake.! 🤔😵💫
Enjoy the cool weather . We need some serious rain .
@@catfishjenkem2226 I'm enjoying it way more than the heat, for sure. Last weekend I finished all the welding on my sister's VW bus. Now I just need to put my VW engine back together and re-install it.
Crazy 😂 ,, it work .. thank you so much ❤
Mine does not seem to have power at all. I tried the CPR thing several time but the charge button light stays solid in on position.
Using bad ammo most likely
I have a 95 Vette and the internet says it take 4.5 quarts.. but it's not even close to the fill line on the dip stick... ?
@@mrdeanv4414 newfangled filters hold a lot more oil than they did in 95, I reckon. I'd fill it with with 5 as a base line and go up from there.
@@HollywoodHornet Thanks
Much appreciated! This has given me significantly more confidence to attempt a little engine surgery myself. I've never attempted anything more advanced than changing oil and headlight bulbs. I'm a little unsure if it's actually going to save me any money in the long run since I have a list of tools I'll have to acquire. Don't tell that last part to the wife.
@@calehein3237 the good news is tools are an economy of scale. They cost a lot upon purchase, but you can always use them again in the future for another repair, making them cost less the more you use them. At least that's how I look at it. I'm glad I could help.
straight up! love your channel.
wow! just get a gallon of gas and watch her go!!! LOL!
Can this same process be used for a 2012 Chrysler 300 3.6vl limited?
@@johanaborunda4693 yes.
I have a 1996 Lincoln Town Car and at the beginning of your video, there was a small orange plunger-looking piece and i am not sure where that part goes.Thanks.Your re-installation video did not show that part.
You talking about the plug the factory installed that the dipstick pushes into the pan upon installation? You don't reinstall that plug. It was there from the factory to prevent stuff from falling into the pan. Dipstick installation pushed the plug into the pan when dipstick was first placed into the dipstick tube during production. I guess now that I think about it, you could reinstall it if you wanted to, but once you put the dipstick back in, you'd just push the plug back into the bottom of the pan again so there's not really a point, unless you want the next guy to think he's the first to change the fluid?
@@HollywoodHornet Thanks, guess dat means I must be the first one to drop the pan!!!I got nervous when I dropped the pan and heard that part hit pan and had no earthy idea where it came from.Appreciate the incredibly prompt reply-watched another You-Tube and confirmed that the part is only installed at the manufacturer. My dad would be pissed as he supposedly had that tranny serviced a few times-guess no one BUT me has EVER dropped this pan!!!Thanks again!!
@@anthonycyprusjr7829 I reckon you can keep that plug as your cracker jack prize then. Enjoy!

Fantastic, straight to the point, A+
I hope that you were able to enjoy the nice cool weather that is ending . I am keeping all of the critters watered here ,we need rain . Back to the high 90s,hopefully for the last time .

Would this tool work for a 2012 dodge charger with the same problems?
@@kingdylan-2623 I can't 100% confirm, but I don't see why not. The whole point of me buying this tool was specifically for ABS module initialization. You can select many different makes and models to work with. The Autel is not exclusively for a 2010 Challenger.
Just so you know, the damper (pulley) has a number of holes on the outside of the damper and some are filled in with pins. This is for external balancing of the engine. There are also the same kind of holes around the flywheel with pins in some of them.
A claw hammer?
@@gcwhitby455ho I was too lazy to grab the sledge. Ditto for the dead blow or the mallet. Whatever tool is closest to me I use as a hammer when hammering is required. We've all been there.

@@catfishjenkem2226 oh no. Not another future engineer. I adjusted the alignment on Katie's Beetle yesterday and mowed the lawn but it was hot as hell out there. I'm gonna relax today and stay inside, and prepare to work all next week. Does the Change Oil light turn on from a timer or does it actually detect oil quality?
@@DC. Mileage based on the Corvette. If you change the oil and never drive it, that light will never turn on.

Your video sucks. First of all, no one cares that it's hot at your house. Second of all, don't have the music up so loud. That's ridiculous.
anyway, 12:49 is it good idea living a wrench, on a vibrating motor, near the belt, while the engine is running
Probably not, but in this case, the box end was perpendicular to a stud that stuck out about an inch past the wrench. So, the wrench would have to pop up and over the stud, so I just did my thing and took that chance. All is well that ends well. Thanks for watching!
every mehanic video should include swearing
Every repair or maintenance ends up being a major project, so swearing is a guarantee.
It’s the ammo 😂it’s not the gun
After 7 months of having it how has it held up? Also why didn’t you install the tailgate seal? Anyways great video!
@@TheZR2Kid the seal didn't seem necessary. I couldn't see a benefit for this application anyway, so we decided to roll without it. It's held up great. No complaints.

Well with mine that doesn't work after having the seat belt inplace using it as it is intended the ding ding ding still keeps dinging after minutes of this it stops for a few seconds and guess what it starts all over repeating again and again and again
I told a friend about the problem I was having he took a look below the female side of the seat belt and pulled the wire connection apart...yeah no more ding ding ding
Thabks for the video. My light is on for auto start and stop along with check engine. Dealer is booked through September and i asume that is what it is! Jeep, what a dumb design
youre driving in turn only lanes!!!!!
Damn pressed for expired plates hahahaha.
Buddy was really bothered by the tire pressure light at the end
How much?
Do the running board lights have turn signal wire. If so, where did you connect the turn signal wire to?
My memory fails me in my old age, but I believe they were supposed to flash with turn signal. For some reason, when hooked up, those running board lights looked like a UFO under there with a pulsing flash. I can't remember if it was when the signal was activated or the brakes were applied, or just the parking lights turned on. In any case, because of that weird strobe effect, that wire was disconnected and now they only illuminate at a consistent light with the parking lights on. Running board turn signal flash was disabled.
And u stole stuff
Great vid. Any info on a c212a-84?
Good morning !! Man the heat is gonna be brutal next week . I have been literally starting on the yard at 6 am . Then giving up around 11 am . Same old same old ,trimming trees ,burning ,weedeating , cutting etc . I keep loads of water out for the critters. I absolutely hate drum brakes lol . Have a great Friday and weekend . 431 am cst . BTW My buddy has a tiny yard ,he starts cutting at noon and then cant finish lol .Its a good thing he doesnt have acreage and 700 feet of fence to weedeat . I hope Katie got home safe
Bad test. Your voltage meter needs to go in the trash. A volt meter set at 20 volts shows the volts you start with, and once engine is running shows how many volts the alternator is charging. Your pressure water system tester actually blows head gaskets if an engine is cold. They should only be used after an engine is hot because the engine metal is expanded, but cold it isnt and can cause an area of a head gasket to actually blow. As for the OBD 2 tester, you test nothing if no engine light is on. You could check one for a pending code, but other than that its pointless. Heres the proper way to check out a car. Make sure the volt meter is putting out 13.5 to 14.5 volts when engine is running. First, look under it for oil leaks, second look under the differential and see if oil is leaking out. Next, squeeze the upper radiator hose when engine is cold and if it has pressure when it is cold it has a blown head gasket, but if the radiator or tank is full and no pressure when cold then its okay. Next, turn on the key then start and pay attention to how long it takes for the oil light to turn off which should be no more than 3 seconds. Next listen to the engine for upper noises (especially in the modular V8s that are notorious for clattering rockers when engine is cold and chain problems), next listen to the oil pain area for rod knocks.
