The ACU was total garbage. The new OCP is a huge improvement but the Woodland BDU is STILL the best uniform for the woods. And we did NOT starch the uniform, but sizing was ok.

I'm glad the ACU got replaced by the OCP's. The ACU looks like shit and does a shit job of actually camouflaging a soldier.

I was a Moatengator in Panama and field tested the BDU for the Tropic Test center and in combat on Grenada. They were way too heavy for the tropics.

I NEVER CARED FOR WOODLAND PATTERN BDUs ,OR THE CHOCOLATE CHIP DESERT CAMO EITHER. I LIKE MULTICAM, BLACK MULTICAM , AND THE NEW PHILLIPINE TIGER STRIPE , AND THE OLD TRI-COLOR DESERT CAMO ,AND KRYPTEK CAMO. AND THE NEW WOODLAND TIGER STRIPE CAMO .

THE BDU STYLE UNIFORM PANTS ARE BETTER THAN ACU PANTS CAUES THE BDU HAS THE WAIST PULL TABS WHICH IS BETTER THAN THE ACU DRAW STRING WHICH BUNCHES THE PANTS UP IN FRONT AND THE DRAW STRING CUTS INTO YOUR STOMACH . THE WAIST PULL TABS GATHERED THE WAIST UP IN EQUAL AMMOUNTS ON EACH SIDE OF THE HIPS IT IS MOR COMFORTABLE. I BUT BDU STYLE SHORTS AND TAKE THE PULL TAB ADJUSTMENTS OFF THE SHORTS AND HAVE THEM SEWN ON MY ACU PANTS . THEY FUCKED UP ON REMOVING THESE WAIST ADJUSTMENT PULL TABS .

Even though the bdu is no longer in service the woodland camo is not completely gone.I have seen Marine Raiders using it in Afghanistan.

army should have kept the woodland and dcu pattern but put it on the acu uniform

when marching does both rifles have to be at right shoulder or can one rifle be at left shoulder and the other rifle on right shoulder ?

I like bdus I where them for air patrol ( Air Force cadets) but they can use some work I am in love with the acu I looks soooo much better

I do think they will keep ACU for a good while, i don't think they can afford a whole new uniform again. However, UCP is already being sold out. Just to clarify for you " ACU = Army combat uniform " and UCP is the camouflage = Universal camouflage pattern." There are many different camouflages with ACU :)) Anyway i hope they one day will switch over to black boots again ^^

In about 5 years time the Army will do away with the ACU and switch over to new uniforms.

But they are also using ACU but in Multicam. What are you trying to say? However, US army is issued a Multicam lookalike copy and the UCP is about to get pasdout

In 2013, we are still using ACUs. Only Soldiers in Afghanistan are in Multicam

The ACU: poorly made pieces of shit. The crutch rips out of the pants, the patches fall off the blouse when it rains, the boots look like shit after one field exercise, the belt loops are barely sewn on and rip off when used to evac a casualty. The pattern blends in with nothing because its colors are unnatural and the "digital" blocks present a square pattern that sicks out. Its impossible to press and looks like dog squeeze. Other then that, the ACU is just fine if you like wearing dog shit.

You really need to research Army TC 3-21-5 before putting out most of this information. Plus the 3d US Infantry (TOG) flies but another set of regs.

wow I can't believe my comment is still on the top comment section when I wrote that off of shit I've heard in Mega. I was going on about the training side of the things, from what I've gathered at the time, the CF infantry learns even more after the SQ, DP 1 and 2 for further career development, as in becoming a pathfinder, taking drivers course, and all sorts of extra you learn while the US basic infantry doesn't (not confirmed, like I said, off of rumor, never bothered to look into it)

I am in color guard and i am good at it just thought id watch to learn anything new or if i need to improve
